That may be true, but the important thing is to just recognize we are living in the era of one of the greatest chess players to live. Forget the comparisons with the others, Magnus is one of the greats, no question about it. Enjoy it!

Was cheering for Artemiev, such a nice guy. He had a good start and was leading for sometime. His lost to 39th Serbian GM was decisive. No shame in that, it is always those what if's when someone looses.

Magnus and the world knows he is the best. Ding knows it also. He doesnt need FIDE to know it. Maybe if a worthy opponent shows up he will retake the Crown. Maybe old age will force his rule to end.
It was one of the reasons I think Fisher wanted more points to be granted for a win..like 2. Though, grandmasters from Russia could have also conspired to choose a winner…by all bowing down to one player.
I hope he competes in the next Fide Grand Swiss. I don't know which one I think is the hardest to win between that one and the World Cup, but I would say it may be the Grand Swiss just because the format makes it so that you absolutely have to take risks of you want to win the thing, a draw is almost a loss in a Swiss format.

Without further context, it feels like Dubov fafo. If the final standings posted was with points deducted then that means he and Magnus were tied going into the last round. Not playing for a win to potentially be the world champion is unexpected to say the least. Not sure how I feel about this one, but definitely a lot worse than the double bongcloud draw a while back.

That is correct, but it seems the blitz world championship started in 2006, and the rapid world championship started in 2012 (when Fide regrouped the two tournaments together). As Magnus became world champion in 2013, that doesn't leave a lot of possibilities for anybody but him to get the triple crown. Vishy apparently was runner up two years between 2006 and 2012, so he got close to getting a double crown in classical and blitz, but never really got a chance at the rapid because of the timeline.
