I am so glad to see/hear you again. Totally understand your stepping back from the intensive necessities in creating a vlog so good for you for your sensible decision. Always a joy to encounter your generous spirit.
It was wonderful to sit with you over coffee and share your year. In 2023 I noticed the videos were fewer in number than the previous year and remembered you talking about being more active in the school. I loved your reflections on 2023. I will hold the ladies who are with cancer now in my heart knowing how very deeply they are seen and loved in their community and by their Creator 💙💚💙
Hi Laura! Your comments regarding New Year reminded me of a poem my pastor reads the first Sunday of each year: When you’ve trusted God and walked his way When you’ve felt his hand lead you day by day But your steps now take you another way … Start over. When you’ve made your plans and they’ve gone awry When you’ve tried your best and there’s no more try When you’ve failed yourself and you don’t know why … Start over. When you’ve told your friends what you plan to do When you’ve trusted them and they didn’t come through And you’re all alone and it’s up to you … Start over. When you’ve failed your kids and they’re grown and gone When you’ve done your best but it’s turned out wrong And now your grandchildren come along … Start over. When you’ve prayed to God so you’ll know his will When you’ve prayed and prayed and you don’t know still … When you want to stop cause you’ve had your fill … Start over. When you think you’re finished and want to quit When you’ve bottomed out in life’s deepest pit When you’ve tried and tried to get out of it … Start over. When the year has been long and successes few When December comes and you’re feeling blue God gives a January just for you … Start over. Starting over means “Victories Won” Starting over means “A Race Well Run” Starting over means “God’s Will Done” Don’t just sit there ………… .. START OVER
I was so blessed to see a new video! I teared up when you said you lit a candle for us. I've missed your thoughts, musings, and glimpses into your world but I totally understand your priorities.
Dear Laura, lt was so good to visit with you tonight. I have missed seeing you pop up on my utube feed. I kind of think of you as my little sister. We have a lot in common. I am a native New Yorker who used to live in an intentional Christian community in the FingerLakes. I have an old friend who grew up in the Bruderhof in Rifton. I loved my experience as a mother of seven. The time flew by so quickly. I get such vicarious joy from listening to your joyous simple pleasure of being a Proverbs 31 wife and mother. I am praying that the Lord will bless you with more children. I currently live in VA near DC. Some day l hope to visit you there at the mount.
Happy New Year! Thank you for sharing! What a lovely NYE service. A nice difference from the zanier ‘party’ culture of the holiday. Would love to experience it.
Hi Laura, glad to see you back. Hoping to visit Spring Valley this year. Would love to see more day to day life such as the farming, kitchen, school and workshop. To ease your digital burden maybe different people could create their own content according to their roles. Just a thought
Hi Laura 👋 Thanks for the update and all that is new with you, your family and community! I'll be looking forward to your 2024 adventures and updates ! 🍎
How lovely to see you again Laura, and your beautiful smile. You are so cheerful, positive and uplifting, a really tonic with all that’s going on in the world. I’ll be looking forward to your videos. God bless xx
Hi Laura, John here. Lovely to see your videos and reminisce on my time living at New Meadow Run in the fall and winter and Woodcrest in the summer in the 1970's. What a beautiful and creative lifestyle your blessed to enjoy. And all the wonderful gardens and singing! I am a landscape gardener in Md. I was honored to meet several of the original founders back then and be in the presence of Emma Ma Arnold, wife of Eberhard. She had the most beautiful Divine Glow on her face. The Bruderhof was very welcoming and accepted me as part of the family. Believe me it is rough out here in this world. I hope at some point to visit a couple communities in my travels.
Hi, Laura, HOPE for 2024 sounds great. You all know how to enjoy, celebrate and share. Thank you for spreading sparkles of hope for all who are finding you. Have a happy and healthy (belated😉) New Year with your family and community, love Monika❣
Happy New Year, Laura! I hope that 2024 comes with many blessings for you and your community. I think you are perfect for guidance counselling. You have the experience and knowledge but your personality seems perfect for mentoring the young adults. You’re very open and honest, smart and funny but most importantly, you are a good listener (saw your interviews), so I know the kids will relate easily to you. It is heart warming to see such a God centred community especially in these days … Love from Canada ❤️🇨🇦🙏
This was so fun to see you again and hear about your year. I look forward to other videos when you have the time, as it sounds like you are very busy! May 2024 be a wonderful year for you all. 💜💜
Happy new year to you too. And your family! Where you talking about TJ and Sue? I love them. And how wonderfull there youngest with her curly red hair. She always smiles even when she was sick.
Happy 2024 to you as well! I have a question that I wondered if you could answer in a future video (if you have time). There is so much in the news about tweens and teens having alarming levels of depression and anxiety. Do you see this as a serious problem in the kids you work with? Does the Bruderhof community provide protection against this worrisome trend? Do teens in the Bruderhof spend a lot of time on social media (which has been implicated in anxiety and depression in young people)? Thank you for your informative, kind videos.
Happy New Year🎉 Good to see you back on UA-cam! I recently started watching the videos by Peter Santenello, have you seen his videos? I think you could do a great collaboration with him, he makes grad little documentaries about different communities in the US - so interesting.
I started watching Peter's videos about three years ago. I've often thought it would be wonderful if he could feature the Bruderhof and Laura. He is always so respectful.
Nice to see you again! I love the idea of living in community...this is not meant as an antagonistic question, but during the pandemic, did your community establish any mandates? How did you all walk through that together?
Of course it's nice to see you. Of course you'd want to be with your family, the nature of a hen. Thanks for visiting us! It's nice to hear things are good for you, or they seem anyway. It'd be good if we can see more of your faith practices. As Christmas, did you guys sing silent night, Noel, go caroling? Did you make egg nog, was it any good? Santa Claus comes from Saint Nicholas of Myra. Which I've supposed we are emulating his spirit. With the Protestant Reformation, so much tradition was lost, meanwhile carrying on practices that were practiced never knowing why, but just did it. Then, someone comes along and ask, where others create a think tank and dream up some rationalization which in effect is a lie and deceitful. Then other churches that know their lineage shamefully concede to go with the flow, where we lose roots and validation, which eventually can be attacked and only thing a person proclaiming faith can do is stubbornly turn red faced and hold to the nonsense they were taught, which makes someone look foolish. Just mentioning as many as you influence, you can see what I mean.
I know several women who are Christians and they told me that they did not tell their children that there is a Santa Claus. If you are a true Christian, then we do not lie - period. It is not okay. And yet you seem to think it is fine and "fun". You may want to re-think that. On another note, I absolutely LOVED your description of the live nativity and singing and the candles home.... so sweet and so peaceful. That was amazing and it made me wish I was there.
Happy new year Laura and family, this is a personal question but are you guys allowed to use birth control because obviously you just have the two boys, I’m just being very nosy 😂😂

love your take on Santa, and all your other bits of wisdom.
You are meant to be a tutor! And a mentor and a mother and a wife and a daughter and a sister and a friend. You are great, Laura!

No worries Laura! Make vids when you feel like it and have the time. You don't owe people anything.

The Bruderhof is so interesting. It's where my research into authentic christianity leads me. Unfortunately I'm in the EU - no Bruderhof.
UK, Germany, and Austria.

I don't know about mandates per se, but they _did_ isolate, mask, and such. If you go back, you'll see she mentioned it a few times.

Pretending there is a Santa does not mean a person is not a true Christian.
Santa is a game! Christians can have fun.
If I joined can I still speak via phone to my brethren
I’m pretty sure you could speak to anyone you like, on the phone, but they would also be welcome to visit.

Google. No need to be so nosy.
