Saw these guys opening for Mercyful Fate with King Diamond in Philly mid 90s. Never heard of Solitude til that day. Life changing. The vocals, the riffs, the hooks. Masters of doom. Underrated band...every kid that listens to metal should be forced to listen to these guys and Wino from Obsessed. GODS of Doom
Yup, went to see Fate in Connecticut and most everyone was talking about Solitude. We were like "who?" Five seconds into the set we were hooked forever. Never got to see them again 😭
Underprivileged band... For me, this is the original old school doom. When I first heard them I got stuck and then for me it's at the top! Thank you very much for this video it's fucking awesome!!!
I am absolutely stumped. How can a recording this old do Lowe's voice this much justice? It blows me away more than the studio version, which already did the job perfectly. 10/10
They would be for me. Unfortunately I don’t care for Alone. Darkest hour is ok but has some filler tracks like “Falling” (an uninspired Black Sabbath worship tune) and Haunting the Obscure. Downfall is... weird, but I do like about 5 of the tunes on it. (I think) Chapel of Burning, Midnight Dreams, Phantoms & Nothing more I dig. I think that Adagio is better but it’s still not as good as the 1st 2 cds.
No way, Falling rules. I agree that Haunting the Obscure is kind of average. Through the Darkest Hour has some of their best songs but also some very average ones. Yes, the first two albums are the best.
This song is rhythmically similar to “Sad But True.” It’s better tho. Had they done 3 more kick ass albums as good as the first 2 albums, they would be my favorite doom metal band; The sound of Sorrow and Crimson Horizon was epic doom perfection!
Can barley remember jamming with John Covington:":":"WOLF"""" at Cedar Valley college. I actuality like have recordings our jams in the college studio. Talk To me John Covington. We need to jam again. That was 1988. This is 2020. Are you still out there?

I'd say that bands like Pentagram, Saint Vitus, and Trouble are original old school doom. This is "epic doom" in the tradition of Candlemass.
