      4 years down the road now and I have used this advice many times! The first time I did this it was on a wheel from a Skyline that was a seamless wrap and ive never been good enough to pull those kind of results. I told the owner I can make it look new but not seamless (no skive machine). I then applied this technique to just the flawed areas that were the reason they wanted it recovered and in very little time the wheel was like new again! I didnt even charge the customer, I had learned so much for free I just passed it on, the first time. This video popped up in my notifications so I thought it was worth updating my experience. I have also used super glue to repair chips and cracks in wood steering wheels with the thick gloss coating. Fill, sand, fill sand until perfect and you can buff the repair areas away.

    Very cool!! Looks BRAND NEW!! I’m actually gonna restore the leather head rest of my favorite rocker recliner today. Of course I’m gonna use the Rub ‘n Restore! It works great however because of my “ALMOST BALD” buzz cut, every 6 months I need to touch it up. I don’t mind because your product is a lot of fun to use and basically “dummy proof.” If you don’t like the final product, you can always do it again until you’re happy!! I wish you did more videos! I really get excited when I get the notification!!! 👍❤️🌺😊

The cars used cars I recently purchased were not cared for well. My leather couch we got before we had 5 cats. They enjoy running across it, they do not use it as a scratching post thankfully! Okay, here is the 100.00 question....what leather paint do you use or recommend for a grey to black color change and is dye better than paint for longevity to U.V. rays and normal wear a steering experiances

    • @RubnRestore
      @RubnRestore  9 місяців тому

      You're not going to have luck with dyes on a steering wheel, in my experience. More info why and the differences between dyes and finishes here: rubnrestore.com/how-to/leather-dye-vs-leather-paint/
      Our products are acrylics. These wear naturally, but are not as durable when it comes to changing color on auto interiors or steering wheels. Heavier urethane or elastomeric coating like those made by SEM are initially a better choice. The disadvantage is that if / when these heavier coatings degrade, the stripping, sanding and prep can be more arduous. With an acrylic, there's no cracking, flaking paint that has to be evened out, and you just apply more. See here: rubnrestore.com/how-to/vinyl-and-leather-finishes-paints/

If the plan is to retain the original colour, would you suggest planing on respraying the entire wheel with the colour used for the repair? (ie colour closest to what you originally had) Or, do you think a spot repair would be sufficient?
