Diver Down is a awesome album! Love it and once I hear Dancing in the Streets, it's stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Pretty Woman is soooo bad ass, and those are not my fav songs from that album. There just isn't a bad song on that album.

Van halen was a great band and everyone releases new videos and articles saying negative things about them to chash grab on them and their success. Its what separates the 80s and 90s from today. All you need today is no talent and a computer, then you are golden for an article.
Nope its a mini moog Edward played with Alex doing that 7/8 or whatever time signature. Sunday Afternoon in the Park is a classic art painting. It happens to be in Ferris Buelers Day Off. Ferris's friend is staring at it in the Chicago art gallery when they take the joy ride in the dads car ..
I was a young teen when I heard "Finish What Ya Started" from the Live Right Here Right Now double album! That and Judgement Day were the tunes that made me a fan of VH! Then went back to the previous albums and became obsessed
Ok! I think ALL these songs needed to be released! All line ups presented a different style! Little Guitars off of Diver Down I my favorite on that album!
I checked out on Van Hagar with Poundcake and its power drill intro but the song I think qualifies the best is “Pleasure Dome”. Musically it’s somewhere between their song “Loss of Control” and Zeppelin’s “Achilles Last Stand” except it’s a 7 minute story about Sammy’s vaguely descripted Pleasure Dome.
"Me Wise Magic" Love that song!! "Finish What Ya Started", not my favorite, but still different. I have zero problems with it. "Humans Being" is a great song. I thought it worked well in the movie. I liked the harder edge of the track. "Inside" has always been this silly, throwaway track. In my opinion it was the weakest track on "5150". Far from hating it. "Tattoo" was sad to hear. I felt this was one of the worst on the album and of the Dave era of the band. "One I Want", lyrically was beyond silly. The song just felt like it had zero focus! "Sunday Afternoon In The Park" was different, kind of cool. Leading straight into "One Foot Out The Door", set it up nice. "Diver Down" was a mixed bag. The originals were amazing! The covers were decent. "Amsterdam" was one of the better tracks on "Balance". Solid rocker. Maybe it did not age as well as some others. "How Man Say I" is the closest thing on this list to a "should not have recorded". Made me cringe the first time I heard it, still does. But I believe the band has the right to record what ever it wants.
"Me Wise Magic" is one of their best songs, and it has ZERO % feel of the Sammy era, what the Hell are you talking about??? This is PURE classic Dave era Van Halen. The Music and lyric groove brilliantly, and it illustrates perfectly what was magic about the original lineup and what may have been if they had just done what EVERYONE wanted and get the original lineup together in the 90's. That track is pure magic
Well, it just sounded like that to me, but it wouldn't have been so cool with Sammy singing it. It was best with the original line up. I dig that song! Thanks for watching!
Van Halen can do whatever the hell they want. They’ve earned it and I don’t consider any songs filler because it’s VAN HALEN! VH 1 Fair Warning VH 2 Women and Children 1984 5150 My tops. Everything else is still great but hard to rank. They’ve never put out a bad record in my opinion
In the early years VH's best song were Light up the Sky, Take your Wiskey home, Jamies Cryin and Beatiful Girls and there are dozens of other great tunes!
Me Wise Magic and Humans Being are absolutely amazing songs. Finish What Ya Started is good. Inside...doesn't bother me, but I'm sure there was better choices. Tattoo is absolutely awful. I dont like anything on 3. I like the covers on DD - the real gem on that one is Little Guitars. Amsterdam- love the music- hate the lyrics (Sam lyrics are generally corny but this was a new low)
I think VH degressed with every album even under DLR. Tell me that the 1984 LP measured up to the first release. Not even close. The last Roth LP at the end is totally forgettable. They were great in their heyday and great live shows but it never got better over time.
I agree with the Diver Down, both songs from VH 3. She's the woman should have been the opening track on ADKOT. The inside, I didn't like all that chatting in it. Me Wise Magic is a killer track. Finish What yea started is a killer track.
“Inside” had a fun groove to it. Not the best off that album, but it did fit that particular collection. Diver Down was fun for what it was. Off the “3” album I would have dumped “Josephina”…that song just sounded like a disjointed mess to me. Edward’s voice would have worked better singing lead on a more uptempo yet sinister sounding song…a Metallica-ish sound or even a Pink Floyd sounding tune. I would have dumped “Man On a Mission” off the “For Unlawful” album…the one cheesy song off an album of killer music. Going way back to “Women and Children First”…..”Fools” just sounded sloppy and clumsy.
Amsterdam is the only song I like on Balance , lol. Inside is the most irritating song on this entire list to me. If I have any control when it comes on, I skip it immediately.
Great video. My thoughts (and mine alone). Inside is a goofy song that, alone, can ruin a great album. Something tells me this song was Sam's idea. Tattoo is a very cool song. I just wish they had recorded it before Dave lost his full vocal register. Would have been way better on VH II. Sunday Afternoon in the Park fits on Fair Warning but probably could only fit on Fair Warning. I think it sits perfectly with the mood that Fair Warning puts you in from the first note of the first track. Amsterdam has a great melody and the guitar riffs are top tier but Sam's lyrics ruin it for me. I'm sure you've already figured out I'm not a big fan of Sam's but I will admit that a lot of the songs from his era are very good, but nothing like the first 6. Again, my opinion. If I was to choose a song from the first 6 that I would not have put on a record it would be Dancin in the Streets. It was tough for me in High School battling the Priest and Maiden fans when Diver Down came out. Just when they were starting to accept VH as a heavy rock band through Fair Warning, with Diver Down I had no shot. I love the album, but a couple songs on there were perfect ammunition for my classmates to use against me.
Oh yeah I get that. Dancin'.. wasn't one of my favs either. Funny, my classmates gave me crap over Kiss, now they are older they all think they are awesome - haha. Thanks for watching!
