      Absolutely, there are replicas built around the world that don’t hold the same historical significance but help to give an idea of the sheer size of the stones 🗿

    Very fascinating about Stonehenge though. British historians are one of the best on earth. Even if they don't know the whole story about Stonehenge, don't bother asking anyone else on this planet. So fascinating. Really though. Thanks for sharing anyway. Have fun you two!! 💑

    I've been fascinated with Stonehenge since I was little. Definitely somewhere I need to visit 😄 years ago we visited Las Vegas and there was a Titanic exhibition in the Luxor and there was a huge piece they'd recovered from the side of the ship! Funny that you said you felt compelled to touch the stones.. I was the same 😆 CCTV everywhere though so I didn't risk it!

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  2 роки тому +1

      Yes us too!! Isn’t it a shame you can’t commune with your ancestors in that way 🥲 I’m sure some people do get do touch them, we’ve seen photos of the solstices and it seems it’s one time when people are allowed to be amongst the stones 🤩

    We have just come back from WA and in Esperance they have a full sized replica of Stonehenge as it would have looked around 1950 BC..its made of Pink Granite which gives it a shiny new appearance..I saw the original one in the UK also and I guess knowing that it was built that long ago it seems to exude an ancient energy though I still would recommend seeing the Aussie one for the sheer size and engineering mastery

    • @gillianfahey6464

    it looks quite dangerous, maybe it's me, but I get the feeling that the stones could collapse in any moment while you're walking close to them. Anyways the location looks amazing

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  Рік тому

      Haha they look pretty sturdy but even if they did fall, I think they wouldn't injure anyone as you can't get very close to them. It's a beautiful spot!

    NO! just NO! The most overrated historical "construction" .
    in all sense of the word- just wildly overrated.
    there are monuments out there with far mor significant historical value ..... older, more beautiful, some of them are actually in British Museum stolen relics of other people with much richer ancient history. its a form of cultural compensation :D which happens when you conquer the world and realise you are not the center of civilization and never were
    point is: the image of Stonehenge is purely based on PR and has no real historical value.

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  9 місяців тому

      Interesting take! We have heard about these relics that were taken from cultures around the world and we agree that they should be returned to their country of origin 👍🏼 but in terms of Stonehenge, it’s still quite impressive that it was constructed in alignment with the sun. Albeit not as impressive as the pyramids aligning with Orion’s Belt but nevertheless quite well done!

    26£ per adult to see the stones and you can’t even go in the inner circle. No thanks, I could use my money for something more interesting, like a zoo. Not filling the pockets of some greedy ppl. And you could see those for free from some distance anyway

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  Рік тому

      Quite expensive, which is why we got a membership for the year 😉 they do use the money for restoration and conservation across all of the properties they manage (so they say). BUT if you go on the summer solstice it is FREE *and* you can walk completely freely amongst the stones 😉
