Great episode. Paraphrasing what Jeremy said, but I loved this quote towards the end. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. I am bombarded by 100+ temptations a day. I first obey because I love the Lord. If I don't feel that, I obey because I trust the Lord. If I don't feel that, I keep fear in the basement of my faith. I obey because I fear the Lord. "
Thank you for this excellent conversation. I have listened to countless hours of content out of Israel and about the Middle East since October 7, 2023. I heard about the secular things at the party before the attack, but I had not heard anyone make the Biblical connections regarding the Nova Festival...
As an Israeli and fellow believer in Christ, I can say that the spiritual "chain of events" didn't start on October 7th. Also when you see things from the inside it is harder to express them because it's people that you know. And the result of October 7th attack was that every Israeli knows someone who was killed in battle or murdered or kidnapped. And I believe it had a major spiritual impact that didn't rise to the surface yet. Just think of Jeremiah, not as a reader, but as a prophet of his time. It was hard for him to speak judgment on the people, he didn't want his nation to suffer, but he lived through it, and about 50 years after he died God started working in the hearts of those who repented and brought them back to the land. It's easier to look at it when you know the full story. It's harder when you live it.
Thank you VERY MUCH for taking the time to offer this perspective, @doronmjtourguide. Please forgive us if we sound ignorant and arrogant in how we're talking about these things... we love Israel but know that our perspective is limited. It's true; I do not know ONE Israeli who isn't personally damaged by what's happened. We have friends who're called up into service as well because of the terror campaign-- people with families who're putting themselves back into harm's way because of this evil. Father, bless Israel today!
Thanks for the insights!
