This is a product for the Challenge Project summative assignment from Chadwick International - Grade 10 English Language & Literature. The song has been written based on the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It expresses the theme of the “mockingbirds” being “killed” - symbolizing the innocents being destroyed by the cruelty of society With lyrics having been written in Boo Radley’s point of view, a character in TKAM who represents one of the innocent “mockingbirds”, the song expresses his emotions and sentiments towards the prejudiced society, being treated as a “monster” in town. Although the song was written regarding specific textual evidence from the novel, please consider that our own interpretation/analysis of the context may bring about different perspectives on the theme of TKAM, and may not always be identical to the aimed purpose by the author.
