OMG. This video was so helpful. The glovebox was tricky getting off but after that 123 it was done. I just cleaned the filter because I could not afford a new one. What a wonderful difference... thanks guys.
Thank you for watching!

Nice video. Saved myself a little money and replaced it on my own.
Thank you for watching!
We're glad our video could help!
What you might be smelling are the particles stuck in a dirty, full filter. Changing your cabin air filter should help with that moldy smell you've been getting.
On 2005 Aveo sedan it's not exactly the same. There is a plastic bar behind the metal one. The plastic bar is an integral part of the dashboard. To remove and insert the filter, you need to twist and bend that plastic strip downward almost to the breaking point. Even so, the filter still doesn't have enough clearance and will be distorted during the insertion process. One of the several bone head designs on this Korean car.
Also, there are two arrows on the new filter (I bought the Purolator ONE replacement), one says air flow direction, the other says UP. When you insert the filter with the UP arrow pointed up, the air flow *is* from left to right. I installed it this way, with the UP arrow pointing up.
Thank you for informing us!
I just cut the plastic near metal part. Anyway changing it is still difficult- I broke my filter...
I wanna know the lunatic that approved this

Thanks, will do!
Great video thanks right on the money only took a few mins! 2006 Aveo.
Thank you for watching!
This was very helpful. Thank you! But the air flow arrow must point at the left instead of the right in my Aveo 2008.
Thank you for informing us and you are correct the air flow arrow should be pointing to the left.
filterheads Ok thanks for confirming that! Now I am confident I did it the right way :)
@lycidas512 We're glad you found our video helpful!
I could do that myself, thanks so much for posting the vid.

Great video thank you!

My 2009 chevy aveo's cabin filter that im currently using has an imprinted arrow at the bottom pointing upwards to indicate which way it goes in correctly, but the airflow arrow at the top points "right", towards the blower fan, wrong filter perhaps or maybe the filter should have been put in upside down?
If you bought the cabin air filter from us the air flow arrow should be pointing to the left.
The 00-07 Monte Carlo takes the AQ1001 filter that we sell. The video can be seen at /watch?v=ptADvMadKRU and the procedure is very similar.
simple.. thanks!!!

Hey Filterheads, is it possible that the Aveo 5 manual transmission with no AC does not have a cabin air filter?
AQ1108 filter fits:
Chevrolet Aveo 2004 - 2011
Chevrolet Aveo5 2007 - 2011
hi I've a AVEO ls 2008.i took off glovebox and I cant get the cabin filter lock open.any help guys please .......
Does the housing door look the same as the one in the video?
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Hi, how about if it is right hand drive? how do I change the filter on the drivers side?
We do not have a video for the right hand drive. Thank you for watching!
What do you do if there are debris and leaves stuck in the air inlet side
You can use a shop vac to vacuum out the housing.
does anyone know how to replace the cabin air filter for a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Lt
Your cabin air filter installation should be similar to the link below.

Please can someone help! Behind the metal plate which you unscrew, a plastic plate in the same shape blocks access to the filter!
I cannot remove it fully, or install a new one without bending or cutting the plastic out. What can I do please?
Could cutting the plastic impair the functionality of the glove box or its adjoining door plastic and centre console backplate?
Aveo 09 LT (A/C)
We can further assist you if you email a photo to us of what you are seeing behind your glove box.

This is true on the 2005 Aveo sedan also. The plastic bar is an integral part of the dashboard. I need information on 2010 Chevy Aveo cabin air filter
The 2010 Aveo takes the same cabin air filter that is used in this video and the process is similar.
Thanks you for this! Ac isnt working right, and I am thinking it had to be a filter, just could not find it, and could not find it online, had to ask youtube.
Glad it helped!
Our data tells us that all of the 2004 models should have the same glove box setup. It's odd that yours would be different.
Did this improve the air flow of the A/C?
Changing out your cabin filter keeps debris from entering your car. Without having a cabin filter or changing it once a year your air flow can lower in quality.
Can you please tell me where in lumina 2005 cabin air filter is located?

Hey can you help me with the spark plug change on Aveo 2012?

I tried to replace the cabin filter on a 2011 aveo with a/c but the opening is sealed shut. like they forgot to cutout an opening for the filter. or am I doing something wrong.?can someone help pls?
Well, are you sure you actually have A/C? This might sound like a dumb question, but do yourself a favor and check under the hood for your compressor and A/C lines. Mine doesn't.
+prevale4Dpwn car gets cold and everything if that is not an ac on my car, what do i have then?
mine is 2011 also and the filter is horizontal, arrow pointing up, and on the right side of the compartment.
@noseandfins i too have same issue

I've got water literally pouring onto the passenger side floor out of this area under the dash/behind the glove box while the AC is running. Could a dirty filter like the one replaced here cause such a problem to occur? any suggestions if this is not the fix? poor college student trying to fix their car without breaking the bank.
That means that your AC condensation line is blocked. The water is leaking from the evaporator. Very simple solution. get yourself a paper clip or a stick and inspect the drain line.( A quick online search will help you locate it) then use a solid line and try to unblock it. then while your are at it, replace the cabin filter since it is inexpensive and bacteria would build up if not changed on a regular basis.

my 2004 Chevy Aveo without AC Unit doesn't have one, the ones with AC does only. i was looking did everything like this video shows and bummer is not a lid on it. is sealed .The dealership told me that my 04 SVM dosent have one only the ones with AC got it.
+edgar bowen we'll make a note of that for future viewers. Thank you!
+filterheads you welcome thank you
I removed the 4 screws and the steel plate but right behind the plate there is another bar of plastic that is one piece together with the glove compartment . I had to curve the filter to insert it and almost damage it. It is an Aveo 2007. Why do they make it so complicated.
Verdelufe same with my 07
Same problem here! Damn...

Can you please make a video for the airco ?
Yes, when we find one we will shoot a video on it.
Me too, how do you get in there to look for bad connections?

Thanks
You're welcome!
my 2004 looks like it needs to have the plastic under the metal bar cut to match this and do it easily.. I bent stuff out of the way, but next time I'm just cutting it

From the way all the stuff fell off the filter on the right side it looks like the air flow should be from right to left, but you said to have the air flow arrow pointing right.

is this same on Kalos 2004

My 2005 is different. It seems to have some fake cover that I can't seem to get open
From what I can tell, only the ones with AC have a filter. Did yours have AC?

You're welcome!
Why does mine have no filter? (2010)
The 2010 Chevrolet Aveo has a cabin filter and the installation should be similar.
Is it normal that by default the car does not have a filter in the cabin?
Since early 2000 majority of the cars on the market come with a cabin filter installed.
I have a 2010 Aveo5 LT - When I tried to unlatch the housing cover as directed it cracked off. It appears that it's a facade. This door doesn't seem to be a door at all, however, to the right and upwards in this area there seems to be a filter. Does anyone else have this same set up and if so can you guide me to how I can replace a filter? My manual isn't any help. Cheers
We can help you with your installation if you email us photos of what you are seeing at sales@filterheads.com
Same set up with a filter upper right over the blower motor and I can't get to it.
what about chevy epica 2009
Chevy did not install the 2009 Epica with the ability to change the cabin filter. Thanks for watching!
+filterheads dear sir , i have heard from my friends .. the way to change epica cabin filter is the same way as chevy impala .
if you have more information pls inform me
Our information says that the 2009 Chevy Epica does not have a cabin filter. The best thing to do is verify with your dealer to see if they really do have one. Since this is only a Canadian car (we are based out of the US) our resources are limited.
I can't get the cover out. I may post a video.

I know the answer now. I don't have air con so I don't have a filter lol, that's why I couldn't get the cover out, there is no cover.
i did this, and could not figure out how to open the filter lock, then i realize i dont have a AC on my 08 aveo LS, so thier is no cabin filter...lol

I took my wife car to dealer. I cant find it they look up it say some of car do have some do not have cabin filter mfg change later the middle of the year.
Take easy to do by myself and save money !!! No need to ask auto service
I agree with myrna buckner... we can do our own...
Thank you for informing us!
fuckin awesome. hey , does this get rid of moldy smell when you activate the ac or heater? or does something more have to be done for that?
It might be time to change your cabin air filter. filterheads.com
Ok in my experience I had to shave down the sides of the housing entrance with a small knife. If not for that, the slight size increase of the new filter plastic encasing made it impossible to replace. Once I did that the filter fit like a glove.
Thank you for informing us! What brand of cabin air filter did you install?
That's a good idea!!!!!
you should change that filter more often, not every 5 years, lol :)))
Thank you for watching!
I have 2010 Aveo, and do not have this latch, so it is not true for 2010
Also 2010... No tab

*the metal bar
Purchase your new filter at filterheads.com
This isn't the same for a 2009 aveo, their is plastic that is behind thermal bar which makes it impossible to put the new one in without bending/breaking it

2010 IS DIFFERENT
Thank you for informing us!
I have an 07 Aveo5 without the A/C. From my research, there is no cabin air filter. Do you think the evaporator box, that holds the filter, would mount the same way as the box that doesn't house the filter.
While I do not want a/c, I do want a filter and it seems I need to change the box in order to do so. So, does it look like I can swap them out?
Agreed. I also have a car without AC and it was missing (no tab, and when we opened the housing by removing the screws there was nothing there).
