@@Mario123007 yes but neither of what you are stating is wrong. If Sony or Microsoft wants to, they can fund platinum for a Bayonetta 4 game. It's not up to Nintendo to decide that unless they already have contractual agreements for a 4th game.
@@Mario123007 No one in this comment section stated that Platinum desires to develop for other consoles when it comes to Bayonetta games. It's just that within business sense, other companies are free to make deals with Sega and Platinum to make or fund Bayonetta games or other forms of multimedia like Anime or maybe even movies. They don't need to contact Nintendo for that only specifically for Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3 and all the endorsement connected to those 2 games.
OJ, I'm gonna have to quote "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair for those whiners about Bayonetta being a Nintendo exclusive. "Whether they LIKE it...or they DON'T like it. Learrrrrn ta Love it. 'Cause it's the best thing goin' today. WOO!!" They better learn to love it 'cause it ain't changing. Nintendo turned Bayonetta from a cool one-off game to a bonafide FRANCHISE. They should be thankful for it & they will learn to be thankful. Let 'em cook.
How is it that people are still acting surprised 4 years later when Bayonetta 3 was first revealed and 3 years after the second game was released, which everyone should have been clarified by then why it became Nintendo's exclusive. But nope, 7 years later and people are still acting dumbfounded and lash out at everyone, including the developer like a rabid dog. So for some who finally got it in their thick skulls about Nintendo saving the series from going 'kaput' and paid for the game to be made, they still complain that the game should be made available for other platforms or the PC because Sony and Microsoft also did it for some of their exclusives. Well, unlike Sony and Microsoft which are conglomerate, meaning that they "multi-industry" and selling video games is just a part of their whole business, so even if they were to stop selling games, they could still continue their operation like they did before entering the video game industry. Meanwhile, Nintendo is primarily a "video game company" and their games and consoles are their lifeline, so it's extremely important to get their consoles selling, and what is one of the things that will entice consumers to pick their consoles? Of course, EXCLUSIVES! That's why exclusives are way, way more important to Nintendo than any other companies, because it's their main business. That's why Nintendo bother to invest and develop their own games over the years to keep the fans around for their true exclusives like Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, etc. with 3rd party exclusives like Bayonetta once in a while, which is not even a common thing, as most that appear to be exclusives are "timed" like Octopath Traveller, Daemon x Machina and Monster Hunter Rise. So Bayonetta is one of the few rare exclusives that actually stay with Nintendo, mainly because Nintendo "saved" the series. Yet, people still complain that Nintendo is being selfish by not sharing Mario games on PlayStation, Xbox and PC... smh
Well said. But Bayo is different to games like OT or DxM to my knowledge, because Nintendo funds the development for Bayo, while for the other games they're the publisher. MS also has the Windows OS, so to them it probably doesn't matter whether you play on XB or PC, because they're making money either way.
Who else thinks Nintendo should snatch Platinum Games while they still can? I feel like they could easily become a VIP studio that help out with other games while also making there own like Monolith Soft & hopefully Retro Studios if Metroid Prime 4 is a hit.
Nah, even though they have their less good games I think they're better off making their own decisions. Plus they already expressed that they want to self-publish games in the future.
I think Platinum should stay as they are it'd be dull quite frankly if all they did was make games for Nintendo or under Nintendo's authority. Multiplatform companies are more appealing cause you never know what games are going where.
I haven't gamed on a nintendo handheld since the Gameboy. Im now for the 1st time playing bayonetta 1 and have 2 ready to go. Im loving the game play . The game is awesome so far. I can only imagine what 2 and 3 will be like.
I do hope you've did multiple playthroughs though, It took me atleast 1,5 year after finishing the Bayo1 before I started Bayo2 because the combo system is so good. The first initial playthrough doesn't do it justice.
Bayo 1 is amazing, but IMO 2 is far better as it refines the gameplay and takes out a lot of the dumb jank and quicktime events from 1. Can't wait to see if 3 improves it even further.
This reminds me of Astral chain likewhy complain just because if the game isn't on your console it's a good game it's going to sell well and they bought the rights so just leave it alone

@@Nintenguy128 as for Bayonetta games (2&3) it's owned by Nintendo, the situation is pretty much similar to Sony's Spiderman, Sony do not own the character Spiderman but they owned the game. Same here with Bayonetta, Nintendo do not own the character Bayonetta but they owned the game (2&3) and as PG's independency in making the games it's as independent as any outsourced developer can be. Like if I hired you as a house builder, yeah I can give you artistic freedom but you still have to work with my budget and time schedule. Something to that nature.
@@Nintenguy128 funny how funding the project 100% from start to finish is called "not involved in them" Why Bayonetta 3 is Nintendo's IP (notice I said Bayonetta 3 the game not the character) and is a 1st party game because Nintendo funded the game fully, it has become Nintendo's financial risk to develop the game, Platinum in this case is just a "developer for hire" just like Bandai Namco is a developer for hire in developing Pokémon Snap, and you don't call Pokémon Snap a 3rd party exclusive. A 3rd party exclusive is when the developer themselves finance the project then a decided to sell their games in one platform and one platform only, maybe because the platform owner give them a financial incentive or just because the developer don't see any benefit in developing the game for operations in other platform, but the financial burden for the success or failure of the game still solely rest on the developers themselves.
@@Nintenguy128 you're confusing the Bayonetta IP and Bayonetta games. The IP is not Nintendo's, but the games (2 & 3) are. So while Bayonetta is not owned by Nintendo, Bayonetta 2 & 3 is Nintendo first party by the virtue that they funded the whole game from start to finish, so yeah they bought it they own it (the games not the IP) And again, it's funny how you ignored that Nintendo fund the 2 games and insisted that "Nintendo is not involved"
It's hilarious that if people ask for InFamous on the Switch, PlayStation tards dunk on them for being exclusives. Then those same PlayStation tards hate on Platinum games because they're not releasing Astral Chain and Bayonetta 3 on their console. Yeah, anyone that thinks Bayonetta 3 (or Astral Chain for that matter) will be available elsewhere have a below average IQ. After all, Nintendo is the reason Bayonetta got a sequel to begin with. No way Platinum is going to backstab Nintendo.
Well, PlatinumGames can NOT backstab Nintendo anyway, even if they wanted to. They would have to face the infamous Nintendo Ninjas in the courts, and, the type of morality that PlatinumGames reveals would be shunned by all the other developers.

Bayonetta 1 is literally on every system under the sun. I got the 360 version, Xbox One version, Wii U version, and Switch version. Definitely overkill but thats how much I like that game.
I remember all the hubbub about Bayonetta 2 being exclusive to the Wii U back in the day and I didn't feel sorry about the situation for a second as ALL the consoles have exclusives and it wasn't he first time that a sequel had gone exclusive to a certain platform. In the case of Bayonetta 2 it wouldn't even have happened without Nintendo stepping in so being angry about it not being on Xbox or Playstation was just silly. That argument is even MORE SILLY now as there's like 100 million Switches out there with the cheapest one being 200 bucks so if you REALLY want to play this game then just pick up a Switch. It probably doesn't even come out for another year!
Damn, what's happening with your subscribers? You've hit 80k and got down tons of times this week 😢 But thanks for the video, unfortunately this discussion still is necessary every time Bayo shows up! 🙄
I can't believe there are gamers out there that were deep enough into video games to care about Bayonetta but not knowledgeable enough to know this VERY PUBLIC information. But I guess that's a side effect of the gaming industry being dominated by a bunch of basic folk after the dawn of the 360/PS3 Clone saga (aka that time when everything that sold was just clones of CoD, GTA, AC, etc)

The problem is that the first game was a cult multiplatform hit. Platinum Games could have pursued timed exclusivity. It didn't have to be a lifetime exclusive. Thats the real shame about this franchise. It could have been a lot more successful if they did it a bit differently.
Nintendo funded development, so why would they make it a timed exclusive? Also plenty of franchises started on NES and SNES and left Nintendo's eco system for years. Are you concerned about that too?
@@NuiYabuko Not concerned about any of that. Platinum Games are independent. They could have done what Square Enix did and made FF7 Remake a timed exclusive. I think they should have tried to go down that road.
@David Stewart No I think Platinum Games should offerred Nintendo timed exclusivity in exchange for some funding. They should not have locked themselves into an exclusivity deal in perpitutity. Alternatively they could have rasied money via crowd funding like The Wonderful 101. The point is they could have done it differently, like how FF7 Remake is only a timed exclusive on PS4.
@David Stewart Again, if you read my previous post, thats exactly what I said. Platinum Games should have only accepted partial funding from Nintendo for timed exclusivity. They should have not allowed Nintendo to fund the entire project. They could have allowed some crowd funding as well. "...thats like expecting sony to release god of war on the xbox" Sony Santa Monica is owned by Sony. Its a first party studio. Platinum Games are a third party studio, they are not owned by Nintendo. They could have done it differently and given Nintedno timed exclusivity. In the same way Mass Effect was funded by Microsoft, but eventually went multiplatform.

3. Nintendo loves this franchise and has been incredibly supportive to it not just with lipservoce but actual money.
4. You want to play it buy a switch is logic that shouldn't need to be explained to any intelligent non salty person Nintendo buyers aren't running round demanding Spiderman 2.
Good video. Your understanding of IP is a little off. Nintendo co-owns the copyright, which is the IP for the individual game. Sega owns the trademark which is the IP for the character.
Well said. Many gamers dont know that the actual Bayonetta belongs to Sega, to this day.
@@Mario123007 i think both are right
@@Mario123007 that is exactly what he said😑, he just explained it within business rights.
WOO!!"
They better learn to love it 'cause it ain't changing.
Yeah I would rather have Platinum being capable of making games for other hardware rather than just Nintendo Consoles.
I think Platinum should stay as they are it'd be dull quite frankly if all they did was make games for Nintendo or under Nintendo's authority.
Multiplatform companies are more appealing cause you never know what games are going where.
I dont want platinum going first party they have too many bangers.
NO! Platinum is too good to be owned by a single game company. I don’t want Nintendo, Microsoft, or even Sony acquiring them.
Ohohohohohoho! I have news for you!!! The games are great!
Bayo 2 is outstanding...non-stop high octane eye popping face melting ultra violence..start to finish....with sexiness
This reminds me of Astral chain likewhy complain just because if the game isn't on your console it's a good game it's going to sell well and they bought the rights so just leave it alone
Bayonetta is an honorary Nintendo character at this point. People will never seem to accept this.
Truth pssh this been going on since back in the day. Folks said, "She just another Dante." and dismissed it.
4:02 Actualy Bayonetta got into smash bros back during wii U era because Nintendo did hold a voting for who gets into smash bros?, and Peopel all around the world votet mostly for Bayonetta to be in it. the fans made that a thing it could have easly been someone else as far as nintendo cared back then that is. Also the hole Bayonetta was to strong for smash bros controversy and how she got nerved into oblivion because of it was a clear sign that she wasen t intended to be playable in the first place. so Smash bros was definatly a Uniqe case xd.
Nintendo saved Bayonetta from disappearing, So they own her. And WE’RE SUPER LUCKY 💜
Folks never learn to do some research when it comes to how game exclusivity works. Either way since Bayonetta 3 has some outrage, it's gonna be a fine game just like Astral Chain lol.
Man, I’m pounding my head every time gamer said wow 4K/8k graphic or ooh graphic doesn’t look good
total meme at this point of time
Nintendo bought it so they own it... I think that is really the simplest explanation
They own the 2nd and 3rd games rights, but not the whole franchise or the character... Thats what I got from this vid
@@tony_0088 well I didn't say I was being detailed, I was being simple😅😅😅
@@Nintenguy128 as for Bayonetta games (2&3) it's owned by Nintendo, the situation is pretty much similar to Sony's Spiderman, Sony do not own the character Spiderman but they owned the game.
Same here with Bayonetta, Nintendo do not own the character Bayonetta but they owned the game (2&3) and as PG's independency in making the games it's as independent as any outsourced developer can be.
Like if I hired you as a house builder, yeah I can give you artistic freedom but you still have to work with my budget and time schedule. Something to that nature.
@@Nintenguy128 funny how funding the project 100% from start to finish is called "not involved in them"
Why Bayonetta 3 is Nintendo's IP (notice I said Bayonetta 3 the game not the character) and is a 1st party game because Nintendo funded the game fully, it has become Nintendo's financial risk to develop the game, Platinum in this case is just a "developer for hire" just like Bandai Namco is a developer for hire in developing Pokémon Snap, and you don't call Pokémon Snap a 3rd party exclusive.
So while Bayonetta is not owned by Nintendo, Bayonetta 2 & 3 is Nintendo first party by the virtue that they funded the whole game from start to finish, so yeah they bought it they own it (the games not the IP)
And again, it's funny how you ignored that Nintendo fund the 2 games and insisted that "Nintendo is not involved"
Operation platinum baby!! I cant believe Bayo 2 is 6 years old jeez
This is the video I was hoping for, thanks OJ!
It's hilarious that if people ask for InFamous on the Switch, PlayStation tards dunk on them for being exclusives. Then those same PlayStation tards hate on Platinum games because they're not releasing Astral Chain and Bayonetta 3 on their console. Solid logic... but then again, what should anyone expect from the Fifa and Call of Duty normies?
I’ve waited so long for Bayonetta 3. I’m not a person that replays games a lot but Bayonetta adds so much replay value
Very excited. No problems on my end. Thanks.
At this point I wish the ip banjo and kazooe was brought on by Nintendo as well
Microsoft has left them for dead for how many years will come
Im still shocked Sony let this go threw there hands
Looking at Sony now, after closing Japan Studios, I'm really not. lol
The real hilarious part is that many of the same idiots bitching about Bayonetta being exclusive to Nintendo platforms now would buy the game if it did go to their platform of choice. It's just whining and complaining for the sake of whining and complaining.
They mad 🤣
Yeah, anyone that thinks Bayonetta 3 (or Astral Chain for that matter) will be available elsewhere have a below average IQ.
After all, Nintendo is the reason Bayonetta got a sequel to begin with. No way Platinum is going to backstab Nintendo.
Well, PlatinumGames can NOT backstab Nintendo anyway, even if they wanted to. They would have to face the infamous Nintendo Ninjas in the courts, and, the type of morality that PlatinumGames reveals would be shunned by all the other developers.
@@stripedrajang3571 I know that.

fantastic video OJ, one of your better ones as of late IMO. i don’t really pay attention to a lot of the business side of gaming because i don’t really care; companies will do what they think is profitable, and if their game looks good and it’s on a platform i own, i’ll consider buying it. bayonetta definitely seems like one of the more interesting cases when it comes to console exclusivity and I thought you broke it down nicely enough for someone like me to understand. learned a lot, cheers, and thanks for the vid!

isn't it the same as what Sony did with Street Fighter 5?
I know I was one of the few Xbox 360 folks that picked up the game "at a discount"
Bayonetta 1 is literally on every system under the sun. I got the 360 version, Xbox One version, Wii U version, and Switch version. Definitely overkill but thats how much I like that game.
Xbox and playstation is regret now👈🤣👉no bayonetta for them
Ohhh yeah its going down foreal!
I can’t wait to put my hands on Bayonetta 3 🤓
If you still don't believe this video watch thespherehunter Bayonetta 2 vid for more info about the exclusivity of Bayonetta
Great video
You've hit 80k and got down tons of times this week 😢
But thanks for the video, unfortunately this discussion still is necessary every time Bayo shows up!
Why don't have Ratchel and Clank or Jak and Daxter on switch? Lol

Ye bro lets defend the company thats abusing the gaming industry and game exclusiveity for years, anw even if nintendo said no they could make other adjustments it wouldn't have been the end. You just wanna be mad
Bayonetta is such a good franchise. Love everything platinum puts out.
The real shame here is that they accept Nintendo. Bayonetta should have been multiplatform. And knowing some DMC Devs are involved it could have looked like dmc5. Now bayonetta 3 looks really outdated.
In your irrelevant opinion
I don't see why all the fuss about this ip,nobody cared about it, neither sega, nintendo paid to have it they own it, end of story, game is mediocre anyways gb.
the truth is that bayonetta 1 was remastered in 4k for ps4 and xbox just last year for the 10th anniversary. the ip is owned by sega and they can do whatever they want with it. i wonder what sega will do on bayonetta 2s anniversary, which should be in 2024? i totally expect ps5 and xbox versions by this time
The problem is that the first game was a cult multiplatform hit.
"...thats like expecting sony to release god of war on the xbox"
Sony Santa Monica is owned by Sony. Its a first party studio. Platinum Games are a third party studio, they are not owned by Nintendo. They could have done it differently and given Nintedno timed exclusivity. In the same way Mass Effect was funded by Microsoft, but eventually went multiplatform.
The problem with that is the fact that the game wasn’t that big sales wise, so they probably needed full funding from a company in order to break even
