My diving journey has just started, i can finally say that i am a certified diver as of today, completing open water and finally completing a goal i had set for myself 43 years ago, and finally accomplished. My dream destination, wish i hope to accomplish within the next few years is Yonaguni Islands in Japan. It is known as the Japanese Atlantis and it has an air of mystery around it that just looks awesome to be in as a history and archeology lover. Thanks for the opportunity and the valuable info that you always bring to your videos! Much love!
I've been diving AI for about 15 years now. I'd not dive without it, It's such a useful tool. Real time gas consumption lets you manage your dive in far greater detail, Last year I was in the Red Sea, off Sharm el Sheik, we were drift diving a reef wall at between 30-40m, my gas remaining was looking a little iffy, so I came up a few meters, and watched my gas time adjust on the computer to a point I was happier with. It's a very nice thing to have.
Divers Ready is one of my favorite UA-cam channels for diving info. As a relatively new diver (only a year and a half and just 89 dives so far) I don't; see myself as a the diver anytime soon but I have heard so many good tihings about Shearwater Research and I think I would really love to have the Peregrine TX or the Tern TX with the transmitter.
Dream dive destinations (plural) Sorroco, Galapogas, Lord Howe Island, Azores, Scapa Flow, Ceontes, Truk. Problem is there are so many and so few days in a lifetime left. PS the Peregrine Tx is awsome for recreational diving - 20 dives in and no way would I give it up.
My dream dive is on Maledives. I have never been there but I hope that I can go there one day and enjoy that amazing location. Water, beautyfull nature and peace.
Thank you for the excellent videos! It's revived my diving career wiht my 16 year old son, and we're looking at the Peregrine TX as a next gear purchase. His first Key Largo trip we loved the Spiegel Grove! Though a dream destination remains Galapagos.
Well as for where I want to go, thats an easy one. Truk Lagoon in 2026 with the Divers Ready group. After watching your videos, especially the one with Pete, in the spirit of making sure nothing stops the diving in Truk, I will probably buy another computer so that I have a spare. My PeregrineTX is awesome and I love the screen size due to old eyes, so either a 2nd Peregrine TX or maybe a Perdix2.
I have owned the Shearwater Petrel and two Petrel 2s for sidemount diving. I'm always upgrading with my Shearwater computers as they introduce technology. I'm currently diving with a Perdix 2 Ti with Air (breathing gas) Integration and a Petrel-2 (as a backup) in my Tec Shorts on every dive when diving in Backmountt configuration ... typically in wetsuit or rashguard in tropical "destination" dives (Florida Keys, Bahamas or Caribbean, etc.) or temperate water (North Carolina wrecks). When diving in Sidemount configuration (usually when Drysuit diving) during the late Fall and Winter, I wear two Perdix 2 AIs (one on each arm) and each has an attached 2-1/2" SPG on a 9" HP hose, as backup. LOVE SHEARWATER PRODUCTS!!!! DREAM BUCKET LIST TRIP: South Africa's Sardine Run diving -- with You!!!! Cheers!
The day I finally sat down for a couple hours to calculate my average SAC rate with our furry friend from Endor... this comes out. Coincidence? I think not ;) I want to thank you and all contributors who align with what you all aim to do... to make diving as fun, safe, and beneficial for all of us as possible. Been enjoying this channel for over a year now since I started scuba diving in early 2023, and you have greatly helped me to make proper decisions and critical thinking in my dive skills, gear, and who I go diving with. I have learned about amazing gear and other products (especially from Shearwater and Dive Rite) thanks to you. That said, the top piece of gear from Shearwater on my wishlist is the Perdix 2 Black with a Swift Transmitter. Glad to see you enjoying your trips, and wishing you all the best on the next ones of your journey. Thank you James, once again Cheers
Love the content James, look forward to every video you release. I just purchased my first Perdix 2 6 weeks ago along with a SWIFT transmitter…2 weeks ago I bought a second Perdix 2. I absolutely love them!! Today I started my tech diving journey, starting with Tec Sidemount followed be Tec 40, 45 & 50. Therefore next on my equipment wishlist is a sidemount reg set and a sidemount BCD. Up high on my destination wishlist is a sardine run in South Africa and watching schooling hammerheads in the Banda Sea!!
I normally dive while on holiday, but I want to start diving back home. But as I'm from the Highlands of Scotland, I'll need to buy a drysuit! So that's top of my wishlist.
Thank you for this content. Awesome video. Just purchased my first Shearwater Perdix 2 with transmitter. Used it on a night dive and that thing is absolutely amazing. I have been diving since 1985 and i don't know how we survived before AI. I feel much safer underwater now. Keep doing what you do. :)
Having the user-serviceable batteries is what'll probably swing me to Shearwater as my next computer, given a lot of manufacturers don't want user-serviceability.
James, great video as always!!! I always like Divers Ready!!!! My favorite dive destination is the coral beds of FIJI off of BegaLagoon. My dream dives (Bucket list) are Antarctica, Truk/chuuk Lagoon, Silfra Iceland Entered contest. I currently dive with a Shearwater Perdix AI.. purchased in 2018ish. It is the best computer that I have had. My 1st computer back in 1984 was The Orca Edge.
Great video, as usual. You guys are so professional and knowledgeable of gear, I love watching your videos for tips. I would have to say that my Dream Dive destination would have to be Egypt at this point. After watching the video you made of that, Im convinced. The water looks so warm and inviting and so clear. But that will be on my list, as well as some others. Thanks for the video. I personally use the AI Peregrine TX and I love it. I would love to have a Perdix 2 as well, but that will come later. Great job guys..look forward to your next video :)
I've had the good fortune of being able to dive at Roatan three times during the past few years. I love it there not only for the incredible diving, but the beautiful scenery and great people I've met. I've loved my Peregrine computer very much, and if I were upgrading today, I'd definitely go with the Peregrine TX.
my wife and I have recently become more serious about our diving - we're doing the PADI 'rescue diver' course right now - and so her birthday present was a shiny new Peregrine TX and Swift transmitter. I'd love to get one of my own to match! Dream dive destination: the Neutral Buoyancy Lab at NASA Johnson in Houston!
I have been diving Air Integrated for a very long time. Your video on the Garmin computer convinced me to buy the new MK3I. I know Shearwater pairs with multiple different companies' transmitters. I’m a little bit upset. You didn’t even touch on the Descent T2 Transceiver's capability. Hopefully, Shearwater has plans to pair with it!
Great timing! I'm currently looking a new dive computers to replace my 22 year old Suunto, and I have been leaning towards Shearwater. Now I'm taking a serious look at the Peregrine!
Happy user of a teric, super durable and reliable computer, backed with a swift! Would love to have a second swift for the stage set. I enjoy wreck diving, so obviously Truck is on my bucket list! Keep up the good work, your channel is great and informative!
Thanks for sharing this information! I bought my Peregrine last year and it’s held up great. My only regret is not being able to little more patient! Had I been, I could have held out for the TX! The TX is now at the top of my wishlist - though as an aspiring future tech diver the Perdix is definitely in my future
As I am looking to progress in my training to advanced wreck and intro to tech, my choice for next computer is definitely going to be a Perdix. Dream dive destination is Chuuk Lagoon.
I went diving on the Seychelles few months ago. I’m not that long into diving, but this was a once in a lifetime experience for me. Sadly to see the reefs dying there. I’m 18 years old from Germany and will volunteer in a coral restoration project next year. If I would win a dive computer, this would help me so much with the costs for my upcoming project. Regards from Germany, I love your videos, Paul
I've just picked up a Shearwater Tern TX, and I'm really looking forward to finally diving with AI. I was eyeing the Terric for the longest time, but the Tern came in at the right time, with all the features (and plenty more) that I need with my current skill set, and a pretty irresistible price point. My dream destination? Easy. Raja Ampat. There is something magical about that place. And the dive sites are all incredible.
Next dive item on my gear wishlist is a Perdix 2, I just got into technical diving so I need a computer to keep up! My dream dive destination would be some of the cenotes in Mexico!
I did my Open water cert 10 months ago and after my mask/snorkel & wetsuit - the Perdix 2 was my first main purchase. Mostly because i could struggle to accurately read my SPG. The dive store who were training me were good enough to lend me a transmitter for my first 8 dives. So impressed am I that I have just purchased the Swift transmitter to use for my advanced OW next week. Then hopefully on to my dream spot cave diving with sharks at Fish Rock!
My favourite diving destination is Blackbeard. I also want to go on a dive trip to the Red Sea. For dive equipment, I am all Shearwater, and I am happy with their equipment. If they are watching this comment, I hope they will develop a dead reckoning on their dive computer. Compass is good, but dead reckoning will take their dive computers to the next level. Love your content, James! Keep up the excellent work😄
Good points all round. Also IMO mounting the AI transmitter on a short 6” HP hose is essential to avoid deck staff accidentally picking up the tank / rig by the transmitter. Also essential to make sure no one turns on your gas except you: do it very slow and steady to avoid damage to the transmitter.
I’m using the peregrine dive computer and I’m in love with it can’t wait to get an upgrade to pardix2 because I’m going to start Tec diving . Shearwater is my go to dive computer 😍
my no. 1 channel for tips and tricks when I'm looking to improve my skills as a new diver. Raja Ampat would be the next on my bucket list, looking to see how it compares to Anilao or Verde Island.
I’m new with diving, me and my friend went to Miami in march and did a snorkel dive with sharks. We fell in love with the underwater world, and want to explore more with scuba tank. We are about to take our open water course 16 of desember. I have already done my e-learning with PADI. I would love to have own equipment one day. Can’t wait to dive!
My next dive tech purchase is definitely an AI transmitter for my Garmin mk3i. I've learned a lot from this channel, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Dream Computer is always going to be the newest Perdix. I have a Peregrine right now, but as a future tec diver, a Perdix is a must-have. As far as dream destinations go ,Galapagos and Komodo are at the top of that list. Cheers from Cyprus
My dream destination is definitely the Great Barrier Reef. Also need to get my transmitter hooked up at some point had that on the back burner for months
Great video. My dream dive is probably Bonaire, and will be making that trip soon. Great content my wife and I enjoy watching the divers ready channel.
Next big purchase on my wishlist is the Perdix 2 AI with 2 transmitters. Im a cold water sidemount diver and next year is my first foray into the caves of Vancouver island!
On my wish list is the perdida 2. I could try one on my last dive and it was amazing. Thanks James for all your tech videos. Always with amazing content.
Another great video! Definitely need a new dive computer to keep up with my busy summers of diving locally and teaching. Old one has to get the boot. Goodwick to everyone!
Already a Shearwater owner and love their products! Currently run a Perdix AI but would be thrilled to also get a Teric to join the dive-watch community. A dream trip for me would be the Red Sea…lot of family interest in Egypt and would love to travel there! Great videos! Love to content and info in them!
I finally got my Perdix 2, next I would want is the TX version of the Peregrine. It's great for when I'm just doing simple recreational dives, my wife and kids can use it, or it would be a great backup when 2 computers are needed. My favorite/dream dive destination at the moment is Fiji. We have a group of friends that go every other year and that would be so much fun! Yes, the place is important, but any great place becomes fantastic when you're with friends!
I can’t wait to get further into diving. I love the whole Peregrine lineup from Shearwater and am looking going getting the Dive Talk GO to start my rebreather journey. Love the videos and the information.
I actually bought my perdix 2 because one of your videos and now that I finally got my first reg my next target is a sharewater swift. We dive cold waters down in Chile and different conditions can change the consumption a lot without noticing. I've had Galapagos on my bucket list for years, but have never managed to organize a trip there. I guess bat island in CR is probably a close second that I'd also love to do. always great content :D
I appreciate that you use sponsorship that you believe in. I’m currently using a Ziegler SPG compass/pressure combo. Would love the Peregrine TX and Swift transmitter.
Shearwater is the way to go! Perdix 2 and Peregrine guy here and love them both. Do a lot of diving here in the Marshall Islands and the Shearwater products are what the “old guys” trust. 😁
Ai is just next level. I am diving since 3 years and am really happy with my Ai. I am using it since a year now. On my wish list is a backplate and wing. I got a used wing style bcd when I started, by a friend. And love it. But for future diving it will be a backplate wing 😀 Btw thank you so much for your videos. It helped me a lot starting in this awesome hobby. ❤️
My teric got battery drain issue. Sent it to local distributor in bali (dont recall any official shearwater centre in indonesia) Got it back within 2 months. With new box, new straps, even remora straps. FOR FREE!!! since then i owned a peregrine tx as well. And no matter what other maker fill their dive comp with. Shearwater got my trust period. I . Will . Dive . Shearwater .
My Perdix 2 has been a game changer for my diving! As far as my wishlist, I have 2 items. First is a Swift transmitter, second is a DivreRite Nomad Ray.
Hey James first wanted to say thank you for all you do for the dive community, and a personal thank you for giving me something to watch on the way to work. I have been looking into possibly getting the perdix 2 Ai for about a month now since birthday is coming up was going to treat myself but let’s see.
What is on my Christmas wish list: Prism2, but I'll settle for a Perdix. Dream dive destinations: Matsushima islands. I've always wanted to go ever since seeing them in a Bond film as a kid.
Shearwater Peregrine TX was my first computer after finishing my open water course. Having the AI during AOW was super helpful well as during a recent dive trip. On the wishlist is moving to a Petrel 3 which will come with time. Dream dive would be a week or two spent in Florida warm waters. Currently a cold water diver year round and would love the warm water!
New diver embarked on an AOW in Sharm el Sheikh with Emperor Divers, bought the Garmin G1 and Peregrine with AI. The Garmin is now going on Ebay whilst the Shearwater with the AI is by far the winner!
Great video. I monitor my wife and daughters gas pressure when I am diving with them. I prefer to mount my transmitter on a pigtail hose because I have seen a helpful staff (but it could also be a helpful fellow diver) try to lift the tank and BCD by the transmitter because they mistook that for the valve.
Instructions unclear.. so my dream destination is the Philippines currently, and my most wanted gear item is either a scooter or side-mount rig with matching regs. Love the content!
I just got the Peregrine TX after watching your videos along with... the transplate / Voyager XT wing and XT1 / Xt2 reg set from your real world reviews. Love what you provide for the community and was a huge part of me getting back into the sport. Cheers! I would love a SWIFT transmitter to pair along with my new baller computer!
Next bit of new kit will probably be a Lefeet P1 DPV and my dream destination would probably be six months volunteering on a reef restoration project (I’m saving that for retirement)
Dream destination? Probably Truk lagoon, can't wait for the footage! I just paid for my first liveaboard trip to do wrecks in the red sea so I couldn't say that one.
Hey James, as usual great video. As a diver that first had an AI computer back in 2003 when Suunto Vytec was all the rage, I wouldn't go back either. As to location bucket list... Truk Lagoon (Chuuk Lagoon) Micronesia for sure!
Came across your channel recently and loving your content. Thank you for all valuable information and keep it going! My dream diving destination is the Galapagos island.
Dream destination: Definitely the Great Barrier Reef!! My next SCUBA dream purchase is the Peregrine Tx to Replace my 8 year old Suunto Vyper Novo with AI due to my Diving a lot in the NE and with low visibility and no color deferential it would be a godsend!! Thanks for all your tips and great advice throughout the years!!
I was certified in the late 1970's and did some river diving for logging artifacts, but had not dove in 40 years. Last year I recertified and enjoyed ship wreck and coral reef diving in the Dominican Republic. I hope to do more ship wreck diving as I live in Michigan (the great lake state). My dream dive location is Greece. In pictures the Sea looks so beautiful, and they have ship wrecks form thousands of years.
I was certified in 1977 when I lived in Michigan. I stopped diving in 1995 and didn't dive again for over 20 years. Life, family and work just got in the way. I appreciate where you are coming from. I hope you are enjoying your return to diving as much as I am! JSea
Recently discovered the channel and absolutely love the videos! Atm I'm saving up for my first ever complete set of gear and was planning to buy a shearwater computer.
Much love!
Congrats on your certification and the incredible adventures that now await you 🤿 safe diving
@ thank you!! 🙏🏼 🥰

actually a dive computer has been on my wish list for quite sometime now.
Love this channel....ai only on dive products, not their story telling and commenting. Tips from this channel saved me life.
My dream dive is on Maledives. I have never been there but I hope that I can go there one day and enjoy that amazing location. Water, beautyfull nature and peace.
Shearwater Outstanding computers, great segment from Canada!

Gotta pay dem bills man, fair play!
I also love Shearwater so totally know you’re legit when you say you stand by their gear. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for sharing this information! I bought my Peregrine last year and it’s held up great.

New to diving and researching gear before buying my first set of gear. I like the detailed good and bad information these reviews are. Thank You!!

I’m using the peregrine dive computer and I’m in love with it can’t wait to get an upgrade to pardix2 because I’m going to start Tec diving .
Shearwater is my go to dive computer 😍
Great video.
Definitely the Plura Cave as a dream destination.
Great series.
my no. 1 channel for tips and tricks when I'm looking to improve my skills as a new diver. Raja Ampat would be the next on my bucket list, looking to see how it compares to Anilao or Verde Island.
Don't know how new Yoh are but to properly enjoy raja Ampat, get about 50 dives first. So youl be able to handle currents etc
I have been diving the Petrel 1 for over a decade, watching this video with serious interest in the air integration capabilities of the Perdix 2!
Definitely a Shearwater dive computer ;)
Thanks for the content James. Next big purchase is going to be a Dive Master class.
My dream destination is definitely the Great Barrier Reef.
Also need to get my transmitter hooked up at some point had that on the back burner for months
Just started this beautiful sport and got my OW certificate last week. Keep up the pushing great content James!
Great video. My dream dive is probably Bonaire, and will be making that trip soon. Great content my wife and I enjoy watching the divers ready channel.
Love shearwater. Such an amazing diver first company, in a field crowded by companies who put profits over divers.
Nice one James
Took my new Peregrine TX for a week of diving in Cozumel and love it. Truk is on my retirement bucket list!
Been looking into getting more scuba gear lately. Your videos have been a great help!
I really want the tx. Seems perfect. Socorro is my buck list dive
Hey James,
My favorite dive destination so far is Fakarava! my dream destination is Truk Lagoon and raja ampat!
Have fun in Truk!
I currently have a Shearwater Peregrine. After watching this video I now need yo upgrade to the TX. My favorite dive location so far is the Maldives.
I love Perdix 2, love Sherwater and your chanel James
Ai is just next level. I am diving since 3 years and am really happy with my Ai. I am using it since a year now.
On my wish list is a backplate and wing. I got a used wing style bcd when I started, by a friend. And love it. But for future diving it will be a backplate wing 😀
Btw thank you so much for your videos. It helped me a lot starting in this awesome hobby. ❤️
For sure shearwater perdix 🎉
My teric got battery drain issue. Sent it to local distributor in bali (dont recall any official shearwater centre in indonesia)
Got it back within 2 months.
I ordered mine last week, it should be at my LDS any time now, and I can't wait!
Yay! I love AI... works like a charm and allows you to totally streamline your rig
I've been AOW certified for about a year, and I don't have a dive computer yet. Good luck for all
New diver embarked on an AOW in Sharm el Sheikh with Emperor Divers, bought the Garmin G1 and Peregrine with AI.
For me, the Peregrine TX would be the best dive computer. For recreational diving in my eyes probably the best choice.
Just finished my AN/DP cert. A new shearwater with a transmitter would be an awesome primary computer
Hi James, Loving this Shearwater content. I would love to have a Shearwater Perdix 2
James you have changed the way I look at my training path. I am looking at buying a trip to Raja Ampat with my Dad.
A Shearwater perdix with AI would be #1 on my wish list
My dream dive destination is deep dive Dubai.
Next Equipment, after getting a Dive Rite Regulator Set, will either be a nice wetsuit or a pair of fins.
Dream Destination Kneeling Island.
Perdix 2. Thanks James. Great channel and content.
Dream dive vacation would be anywhere with James as my buddy!
Dream destination? Probably Truk lagoon, can't wait for the footage! I just paid for my first liveaboard trip to do wrecks in the red sea so I couldn't say that one.
Great Video James !!! My dream dive destination and hopefully next trip is Malta to complete my technical training
Dream destination is definitely Truk Lagoon diving my ISC Tiburon CCR which uses shearwater electronics in the head and handset.
Up next for me is IDC so I can start to give back to the community that has brought me so much. Excited to equip with AI!
Hey James, as usual great video. As a diver that first had an AI computer back in 2003 when Suunto Vytec was all the rage, I wouldn't go back either. As to location bucket list... Truk Lagoon (Chuuk Lagoon) Micronesia for sure!
Definitely the Yucatan cenotes as a dream destination, oh and Truk of course!
Great video. I’ve got mine set up with pig tails, just seams safer & helps with my long reach. Palau & Raja Ampat are bucket list locations.
