    I just got a Fuel grinder and it kicks ass I used it to sharpen my lawnmower blade this week. I also just cut up random pieces for steel just for fun. Great review Ozzieies!!

    Milwaukee tools are good for plumbers or electricians but for metal framers or other trades that they work with hard materials makita is the best, good prices and they last for ever, also the battery, love milwaukee accesories but those fuel batteries won last on hard labor

      I feel like Makita have gotten much cheaper in quality. Mikwaukee is superb. I agree with their batteries though, they dont last long even the high output ones 6.0ah plus, the run time is disappointing

      GREAT to hear.

      Yes they fixed it sweet and fast, now i have two full time hard working grinders sharing the load. It was the bearing that was busted... so if you feel that its spinning rough its the rotor rubbing and will need new bearing... should be diy easy fix even after warranty i guess

  • @TimKollat

    Im just beginning to finally come to the conclusion that battery tools of today may just be worth switching over from electric. I know the drills are definitely worth it, but are the battery operated grinders worth it? I use metabo and makita electric grinders for heavy use. Cutting a lot of rebar and saw cutting/scoring decorative cuts in concrete. Are these battery operated grinders going to be as powerful and long lasting as an electric? I run all my grinders without the guard and handle. Does the guard come off of these easy or are they permanent attached? If they are then I won't be buying one

    • @OZToolTalk
      @OZToolTalk  7 років тому +1

      mojo jojo YES YES YES they are worth it.... you won't look back mate.
      They are seriously tough these days.
      And regarding the guard... leave it on. It's not worth a missing finger. (Mike)

  • @dillwiggle2
    @dillwiggle2 6 років тому

    Yeah this toggle and safety switch on these new grinders are worse than the old ones imo. The old safety switch as you mentioned was better operated going the opposite way and the toggle switch was thicker making it easier to switch on with your fingers and also maintain. Prefer the old switches to these new ones. Would rather have a slide on/off switch than this new paddle switch which i think they do actually make now.
    Also It actually weighs more than the old one too (i weighed it).
    And when your cutting sideways one handed the safety switch and paddle switch are very akward to use. Have to use the opposite hand to deactivate safety switch and the meat of the paddle switch is higher up and is not great for one handed cutting sideways, again the old one much better and can be operated with one hand.
    Great video review guys !

    • @XRA1D
      @XRA1D 9 років тому +1

      Werkzeugnutzer People should get used to the paddle switch because it is a lot safer. Say something like a hoodie string gets caught in a grinder, the grinder will walk up the string and it can kill you. With the paddle switch, just let go and it shuts off and will do less damage to you. The switched one will keep going. And since these are so powerful they won't stall out. Many people have died from neck injuries this way.

    • @Werkzeugnutzer
      @Werkzeugnutzer 9 років тому +1

      XRA1D I know would you will say about the safty of the paddle and it ist true, I also have the paddle version but the "old" brushed motor but this is not the point. it was only the the businessway i don't understand. why they have 2 versions of a tool if they don't sale it all of the world the same time oder the same speck, you know what i mean?some things like a string of a hoodie you don't alowed to wear in germany on work with maschines, because of the dangerous on this thinks it is forbidden to use from an german organisation it is called "BG" Berufsgenossenschaft or translated somethink like (German) employer's liability insurance association.

    • @XRA1D
      @XRA1D 9 років тому

      Ok, forget about the hoodie string getting caught in it, say you're using a wire wheel, the grinder jumps, touches your clothing, and then it will do some serious damage to you. There are more than one instance. And yes it's stupid that they don't sell all of the same versions in different countries but I think the switch style ones should not be allowed to be sold anymore. It's a big safety issue. Shop inspectors should treat the swtiched grinders like a grinder without a guard on it because both are dangerous. I've had a wire wheel jump on me, it didn't catch on my clothing but I said "Damn, I need to get a paddle switched grinder so it would turn off when it gets pulled out of my hands and I let go.

    You guys should test a makita tools torque/RPM, to me it seems there is a bump in power on my tools when used with a 4 amp hour battery,getting the 5 amps soon will see if there is enough of a difference to be noticeable

    • @dwainott8002
      @dwainott8002 9 років тому

      Yeah, I did some testing on this a while ago with my Dewalt tools. My circular saw and drill were unaffected by a switch from 2ah to 4ah batteries, but the impact driver saw a sizeable power boost. The ryobi 18V impact driver we're about to review also did the same thing. I'd like to see some more clariy about this from tool companies.

    • @alekskuksenko
      @alekskuksenko 9 років тому

      Hmm... the difference isn't huge and I am not sure its not just because the battery is newer with less degradation. .. maybe the 5.0 amp will have a significant difference

    • @dwainott8002
      @dwainott8002 9 років тому

      Aleks Russian yeah i think its more to do with how many batteries can be drawn upon simultaneously. the slims have 5 AA batteries, the fat batteries have 10. Unless the discharge rates have increased with the high capacity cells, its unlikely that a 5ah will be much/any better than the 4ah.

      Agree but good choice, I went all in on Makita recently do not want to f around with 3-4 chargers and 10 batteries out on a job, all things considered though I don't think you can find a better middle grou8nd than Makita 18v. Point out a single manufacturer that consistently beat Makita on all accounts all the time? Sure I like the Fuels too and some Dewalts and work with Hilti every day cause my mate drag around his bags full of Hilti, if only one platform yeah I will take Makita over them all, just such a thgings as Milwaukee/Dewalt wobble chucks, or Dewalt batteries sitting real loose on the tools, Makita's also just feel like underrated all their tools and ergonomic is superior, Rugged, very high quality plastic and molds used to stamp out the bodies, smart simple solutions. Maybe not very exotic or good looking but trusted and feels very good to use.

    i was going to get milwuakee combo and when i tried to hold the grinder in my hand i had to go for makita. Its kinda stupid funny that such a great tool can be ruined with such a thing... Its literally impossible to operate when cutting, u gotta twist your hand to keep the thing going and then no way you can cut precisely... I dont know how they could miss something like that,how hard can it be... Its not like they are manufacturing cars where you can make so many mistakes, justa few things to consider and they got it wrong...

      Here in the UK, we only have a switch type version of the Milwaukee available, no paddle version. However, one thing I noticed is that the switch version is only a 115mm (four and a half inch) grinder while the paddle switch version is a 125mm (five inch) grinder. I had to import the grinder mainly for getting the 5" version, the paddle switch does not bother me.

    Makita all the way for me. No idea why Milwaukee uses this paddle style switch. I'm sure some love it but think the majority like a trigger. I can't stand the paddle.

      they make the paddle switch because it's a safety requirement on most mine sights to have it.

      Come on with that crap man. If he likes it and it hasn’t failed him then it ain’t garbage. If you like your brand and have batteries in the platform then keep running them A T.

      most tools are made in China. And every brand has faulty products. But it sucks when you're the one to receive it...

      So is Milwaukee and more or less all important parts inside that "assembled in the US Dewalt's" so many still seem very confused about, but that was the idea was it not? Make people think they are US tools? Makita have got tools made or at least assembled in a range of countries though including Romania, Vietnam etc...

I don't think people understand that quality doesn't always go out the door.. makitas have been made in China for years and all their tools are bulletproof except the new Japan made impacts..it's all good though I know my quality from use and will always have better tools than the fan boys

      [Dwain the brushless Makita was released elsewhere as both 4.5" and 5" I believe. In Australia, only 5" I think, ours was definitely a 5".
