my favourite verse in this passage is actually Mat 12:29 - "how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can rob his house." This is precisely what Jesus did when he delivered the demon-possessed man (vs 22-28). On the cross Jesus defeated sin and death - and in doing so tied up the strong man. Today - this day - Satan is bound and Jesus is busy plundering his house. I LOVE this image because I have several loved ones in that house. I know by faith that the strong man is bound -- and so I pray constantly that Jesus will steal / set free / rescue my loved ones.

It is a powerful image, and a great comfort to those who know they have been set free from this strong man. Bless you.
