There’s an “Amish” documentary on UA-cam that’s very interesting and actually keeps you watching. Can’t remember the name but he rides along with a guy who’s like the Amish but not, he uses electronics but only to a certain extent. He explains all the different types of Amish there are.
That sounds like Peter Santenello, just found out about him recently. He has a few great videos with the Amish, as well as tons of other interesting videos on cultures. Usually has someone from the area with him for the video showing him everything they can, very capturing video format, binge watched a lot of his videos.
I used to work for a driving company and there was Amish people always at this gas station and they would roll up in brand new f250s lol it was weird at first seeing them hop out of that instead of a stagecoach

Living in "Amish country" or near it, you get to see Amish people around often. They're not exactly what people may think. Not AS secluded, lol. Some have cars that they use only on rare occasions. I always see them at Walmart shopping as a family group. They make the most awesome food too. If you're ever in PA, stop at an Amish flea market and grab a moonpie or an apple dumpling off them. They're handmade, extremely delicious, and helps make them some money. You see them often going by in their horse and buggies too around here.

I lived in Goshen Indiana growing up near quite a bit of Amish. I fell in love with this Amish girl.. the first time we saw each other she just looked at me with this glowing smile and she just stole my heart.. she was so pretty and graceful. we would write each other a little letter and we had a hiding spot that we would exchange them at. that was such a sweet memory of my childhood.. she would write me poems and leave me little sweets. She even sew me this little heart. I would draw her pictures and write her stories and we'd share life experiences. I asked her if we would be allowed to be together.. she told me it never happened before and that she would probably have to leave her family. She told me she understands that we aren't gonna be able to meet and that she was very sorry. It was so heartbreaking to not be able to even hug her goodbye. But that was the nicest girl we where like star cross lovers... just hopelessly in love.
So, I live around a lot of Amish communities. One time when I was little at a Cub Scout Day Camp, the local volunteer fire department came out, let us play in the water from their hoses, and showed us their gear. One of them was an Amish man and they made sure to make an announcement that no matter how many times we mentioned it, he wouldn’t know what we were talking about when we said he looked and sounded like Darth Vader😂
I know alot of Amish and they have to be the hardest working people ive met. I mean who mows their yard with a donkey and blade anymore? They tie themselves to a plow and horses and farm acres of land liKe that. Amazing to watch.
I do some work with these Amish guys from Cadiz, KY. I have heard them cussing and saying the f word. I told them I was going to start a band called the Amish F-Bombs!
Okay the Amish have some of the best food. Like no joke. I have to always end up buying some because of how delicious it all is. Same with the Mennonites.
