I just acquired a 1960 6v6 version without tremolo. My multi cap can was a Mallory that I replaced. A new cord and a fresh 6v6 were all that was necessary for now. The 6v6 that was in the amp worked but had a fizzle to it on lingering notes. I had spares of all the tubes in the amp so after trying a preamp substitute, I soon realized the power position was the answer. I bought this ga5 to be a playmate for my ga1rt, that has the alligator clips that slave off of another amps speaker for the reverb to work.
There's also a version of the Skylark with two EL84 tubes for output. I think there's another version as well, which brings the total to at least 4 versions!

I really dig the models you get to work on. Its a walk thru the history of great guitar tone
These are cool little amps, especially for recording. Looking forward to hearing it.
From a quick look up close, that big cap resembles a car coil..! Nice walk thru Lyle, interesting amp..Ed..uk..😀

Are you planning to finish this video series? 🙂
Never mind, found it. Thanks
Have you heard a tube go microphonic only on variations of one note, like A anywhere on the neck.
Yeah, kinda, but that sounds more like a solder joint or loose hardware IME.
@@PsionicAudio Thanks, I'll let ya know...
Would you give me the unloaded voltages for power transformer. Trying to find a replacement old
One is shorted . Thanks You
‼️
When it goes back on the bench, sure. Probably tomorrow.
@@PsionicAudio Thank You very much‼️
Gibsons almost never follow the schematic if there is one. It keeps things interesting for the tech.
