The father of two teenagers who had planned a pool party at the Summit Waves water park in Lee’s Summit is calling for changes after the party was cancelled at the last minute.
Thank you, sir, for setting this matter straight! Lee Summit tried to establish a false narrative, but you didn’t let that fly! Your family deserved more and you made that happen. 🙌
We just witnessed the epitome of what is meant by the term, A Real Man”! This Father is intelligent, mentally agile when fielding questions from journalists, protective of his wife and children, a business owner and provider, supports his community and leads by example. Hats off to his lovely wife that stood by her man and trusted him to lead the family in the right direction.
This was beautiful to watch. We need to see more Black men represented in a positive light.

I lived in Lee’s Summit, MO for over 20 years and the sad part is the racial bias has not changed and unfortunately the racial issue is conditional minded to the younger mind and the adults are the ones who decide to train biased attitudes towards race! It’s super sad they are still discriminating in 2022. I am praying for this family for the justice they deserve. My Son still lives Lee’s Summit, MO with his wife and my two granddaughters and he was pulled over while being black, the cop said…oh, you looked suspicious. Keep in mind all races pay taxes to live in Lee’s Summit, MO. So stop the discrimination because it’s wrong at all cost. It’s hurtful when we are doing the “right” thing and then penalized for it. Enough is simply enough. They did their homework and that a golden standard in my book.
Not sure how Lee’s Summit is, but 99 percent of the time when there are big group fights at places like these…. Malls. Etc. It’s ALWAYS blacks. Young blacks are a huge reason business go under and areas go down. Not even the good ones want to be around their BS.

They looked at the social media response and after decades of people RSVPing "I'll be there" and not showing up, they decided to cancel the reservation based on their own assumptions and prejudice of the entire situation! If they had just waited and talked to the family they probably would have paid the extra $200 to cover of any extra people happened to show, but if even the POLICE said there were not 500 kids there, then they did NOT break any contract!
They created their own possible bad situation with their own actions, but like this father said, the way it turned out says EVERYTHING about who these teens are and how they were raised.

The waterpark can handle 1400 guests. If 500 was a problem , stop after 250 count. But that wasn't the problem.

The father said the park contacted his business phone number on the day the business was closed. The park had his wife's number too and her email but did not contact her to cancel the party.

This was not about race. They are using race as an excuse for their actions. They promoted the party on social media which was against the contract. And brought double the amount of people they originally stated they would. It was a safety issue which is why the employee was uncomfortable. They did not have enough security.

This father handled this situation masterfully and I'm so glad that their family and guests offered this establishment NO reasons to deny entrance after having found out the party was canceled. This makes the staff's intentions even more obvious.

I love how he spoke to the effects of how this has mentally impacted the black boys in his family and his wife as a mother of black boys in this community. PLEASE FIGHT BACK!!!!! A similar situation happened to my family in 2011 in Florida. Our family was evicted from a resort for no reason (other than being black). Some of us were sleep, some of us had not arrived yet. We had been there less than 24 hours when the sheriff came to evict us. Use us as a case study “BONLYDIA JONES -WALTON VS LAKE EVE RESORT” We sued all parties involved including the Sheriff’s department. “ ALL 250 attendees who were denied access has a potential claim! It was 60 of us.. SMH…..still happening in 2022.
And that woman who denied access because she was “uncomfortable” should be fired.

I'm glad the family spoke up about the 500 people claim. I read the comments on another UA-cam channel about the 500 people. Even though the video didn't pan the people waiting, one could tell there wasn't even close to 100 people waiting and that the police body language wasn't one of handling out of control people. The park already had people in their park and I 'm sure they wouldn't go over their limit of customers. It's a shame when the park takes $2,000+ for a party then their Karen employee decides not to let the people enter.

It probably would have been smart to say that at the time of the denial to the park. Instead she chose to say she felt uncomfortable. She made herself sound like a racist Karen. So that's her bad. When a group of minorities show up for a paid for party, the last thing you want to say on video, is you can't enter because I feel uncomfortable. Stupid people shouldn't be speaking for the park. If she had a legitimate legally binding reason to deny access, it would have served the park well for her to express that at the time, on video. But instead she looks like a racist white woman. Please don’t forget to include as insults, “You articulate well” and “Oh my, you have good diction.” I am an adult African American female who interviewed for an executive assistant position and the exec conducted the interview. When he entered the room he did a double take, then started with small talk when he made those two comments above. I replied, “As compared to whom?” There was about 15-30 seconds of silence then he exclaimed, “OH NO! NO, NO, I DIDN’T MEAN …” I’m not sure how he finished that sentence because I walked out. To me, those comments are racist innuendos. Why is communicating well considered an anomaly for African Americans?

I agree, it doesn't matter what status you hold in society, everyone should be treated with dignity. But PRESENTATION goes a long way also. It's very important to be able to articulate and convey the message.
I smiled all the way through this interview. This is what a strong black man looks like and I am so proud of him. I am also proud of his wife for sitting there and allowing her husband to lead. The kids were well behaved and I am glad he gave their accolades. We see so many times on television young men that are problems and it is good to showcase those who are not.
