I love that this is named after Pat Boone, he's been long overdue a proper acknowledgement for his services to Cyclocross through music, they didn't call him the Cyclocrooner for nothing!. Excellent stuff, well done Trek!
The Boone frameset has been around for a while now, this is just the newest generation.

I switched to TREK from Specialized and feel I did the right thing because dollar for dollar TREK gives Me a better riding experience
Specialized is also more scummy with regard to their practices.

@@mikeogden5256 You may already be aware, but they tried to sue a small bike shop in Canada a few years back over the name Roubaix over a trademark. And, they have a history of such behavior. Real jackasses.
I currently have a Domane, but had been considering a Roubaix from Specialized before doing so. Reading up the company told me to go with Trek. I have no idea if Trek has done stupid nonsense like that, but I haven't found anything really bad about their practices, unlike Specialized.
That other company will absolutely 100% ignore you post sell. Purchased a World Cup Epic a few years ago. Clear coat started bubbling within 4 months and then started peeling within 1 year. Took it to my LBS where I purchased the bike when I saw the 1st bubble... they took pictures submitted claim. I was told it's ok and sometimes it just looks that was and put some clear fingernail polish on it and warranty denied.. took the bike back a few months later for another request for warranty because now the clear coat was peeling everywhere claim denied and was told basically don't bring the bike back they (the other company) isn't going to do anything.... I tried everything even calling, emailing and trying a different bike shop a few hundred miles away when on a trip...that other company will do NOTHING... If you purchase a car and the clear coat started peeling within a few months you would want it fixed..Very disappointed in that other company...

I want the 2023 trek session like the previous gen without high pivot, but with 250mm of rear travel and a new fox fork just for that bike with more than 200mm

ps. Ridley has had integrated cables on their CX bike since 2020. Not available in NA tho.
So gone is the front isospeed in favor of more challenging cable routing for those who want to travel on airplanes with the bike.

They kept the front isospeed, its just redesigned and integrated into the fork. I work at Trek. So I've seen it.

Saw one of these in a recent Cyclocross race in Wisconsin. The video doesn't do the color justice, its awesome in person. The bike was on display, not in the race.
I work at Trek and have seen a few custom orders of this baby come through. Its a beautiful bike.

I'm not racing but just want a bad ass bike to ride , am I wrong to buy this bike?
I've owned several CX bikes from different brands and can say the Boone is hands-down the best of them. While it's nice that they hide the cables at the front (mostly) starting with this 2022 frameset, what they don't say is that they dropped the ISO Speed decoupler at the front area to accomodate the cables. I would rather they have kept the ISO Speed at the front to complement the one at the back.
I work at Trek. They actually kept it, just redesigned it. Its integrated into the fork.
Hope this hints that the new checkpoint is coming.

What is the max front chainring size?
I believe it is 52t but you can also use any standard 2 by drivetrain for larger range
44. Trek Baloise Lions us a 44t ring, I believe. However I could be wrong and its a 42. But it looks bigger than that. Saw them in Arkansas.

I can fit a 700x37c on my old Boone (canti-brake 2016 model) with some clearance for mud. So, what is the rear tire clearance for this new 2022 model? If it can handle 700x38 or 700x40 with some mud clearance, I'm sold. Not, everyone can afford to own both a Boone and a Checkpoint. Also, is the cable routing through the headset a concern for power washing?
700x38c clearance with ISO standards - you'll have room to play!
As for cable routing, you won't have issues washing your bike.
Can I put a front derailleur on it? I checked on the Trek website but there's no information about that there.

Can anyone tell me what's the difference between Boone and checkpoint?
Boone carries our CX-specific geometry and tube shapes that make it the ideal race bike for riders looking for confidence over barriers and technical terrain. Checkpoint is focused on endurance over rough terrains, like our Domane. However, the Checkpoint is 2x compatible and offers rack, fender, and multiple bottle mounts for wherever your adventure takes you.

It looks enough like an Emonda it might be hard to tell besides the ISO speed.
@@Wesrl for sure thinking of getting one of these for me. Like i font do hard gravel neither gravel trips so the checkpoint is to much. But my town as a lot of coble and dirt areas also super hilly and this might be the perfect tool to get here
@@bernardo9202 it will be good at anything they say it is not for Gravel but nothing stops you from doing it. If you do not need mounts for fenders and racks Boone is find since the main difference with it is a higher BB. I am planning on getting a road set of wheels for mine when it comes in so I can have a new road bike and gravel.

Second road wheel set for road rides then the aero matters. Also any speed above 20km/h is where areo gains mater and most riders already wear skinsuits

They do that cause dedicated cross racers have their own race wheels. Also, they aren't actually bad wheels. They are a very budget friendly wheel thats pretty light, tubeless, and has high engagement.

Naa, I think trek is way over priced and no sexy at all! Pointers, if you want to do invisible cable routing do all the way like pinarello! I had one trek and I gave up! I would go for he build bikes only NO OTHER LIKE ITALIANS! also not so good when trek wants to add their own components. Maybe wait to see what ENVE bikes will bring as they are made in USA made and way better! No Chinese or Taiwanese made.
Those aero frame tubes don't look cool, they look fat and really dumb on a bicycle. Like the lollypop color scheme but I just bought a titanium bike and not looking for another bike.
