Trauma story. At age 11 or so. A neighbor boy during a childhood game pulled out my mandibular right canine. My Mom did not rinse it. Wrapped in a moist towel took me to the dentist. Within 30 minutes after the event the dentist placed the tooth in the socket where 57 years later it remains in good periodontal health. Never forgot the event. In fact that event inspired me to become a Dental Hygienist. I began on a mission to educate and help people save their teeth. Just an antidotal story. Smile Dr, Ryan. You are truly wonderful. I’ll let you know how I do after I retake my boards for Florida. This will be my fifth state license. Seems I take boards state to state a few months before reciprocity. You are helping clarify relearn things I missed the first time. You are adding depth to my love of dentistry. Debra

hey so i have question a googled and in DD it said class V- luxation, class VI avulsion ?
    Ellis Class V
Luxation: The effect on the tooth that tends to dislocate the tooth from the alveolus. Teeth loss due to trauma.
    Ellis Class VI
Avulsion: The complete separation of a tooth from its alveolus by traumatic injury. Fracture of root with or without loss of crown structure.

Hi there! Thank you for asking this question. This is actually seen differently in the literature depending on where you look. You are correct that for the board exam, they use V=luxation and VI=avulsion. I use this categorization in my newest video on traumatic injuries for NBDE Part II exam preparation: ua-cam.com/video/LXyZBwIhHHs/v-deo.html
