Mullet and Bass fishing in the Lake District on the west coast. First ever time and learned loads for next session. Loverly day spent fishing doing new stuff I’ve never done before. First session of my holiday.

My grandfather used to fish for mullet .he'd sit quietly feeding the bread to them ..then when they had settled he'd drop a peice of bread in with a hook in it ..mullet are shy fish .I've caught mullet twice while fishing for bass .caught them on mud rag ..I enjoy listening to you as much as I enjoy watching you fish ..thanks

Best bit is planning next session at night in pub talking to wife as if she’s bothered 🤣 whilst playing gin rummy. Mullet was not there that day but I don’t give up as I’m stupid 🤣🤣🤣. Great video Vern as always , that’s fishing for you love the content mate . It’s time to get the hip done now book it in for next summer . Tell the doc you got a winter series to make then you be ready 😂. We will always stay with the channel even if it’s rig making for the hospital bed on a Wednesday or Rod building in the shed . Great video mate, there is a lot of mullet in the Humber on the north side I've seen hundreds of them . tight lines 🎣🐟

Vern it happens....light gear small hooks for mullet...easily spooked 👌👍...augers I think we're 60's/70's beach rods🤔🤔

At the pub in the decision making conference with the wife yarning. I can to realise probably best to fish for mullet when you can see them first then bait ground and fish. Learned a lot over the week so things will improve. I hope. Pleased you enjoyed thanks for watching. All the best stay safe.

Another picturesque fishing venue Vern.Being on holiday at a new place as we all know is hit and miss. But having said that you gave it a proper good go with no luck I enjoyed watching and could see you were struggling with your hip I just worry if you fall you could do more damage best stick to fishing easier marks Tight Lines Vern 🎣🎣👍will speak again real soon
Venue was great I’m okay I could fall on a carpet 🤣. Like you say I gave it my best for a long time but no luck. Could have gone to a harbour at Whitehaven but more of a challenge here. No fish this time but have realised if you have days upon days or preferably you live there you can find these fish and get to know the marks to bait up and then fish. From cod King To total blanker in such a short space of time. Brett of Brett's fishing diaries is still catching fish. Maybe ask Brett for some tips. Just pulling your leg mate and not the bad one.

Vern, if mullet are as shy as their reputation, rather than rely on a rod tip for bite indication, maybe try the freshwater way: pinch a big bit of bread onto the line, hanging between two rings. Less resistance, big old ‘flag’. Should fess up: never caught a mullet!

Holidays and fishing do not mix in my experience. I could bore you with where I have blanked but I would only depress myself. However, there is a heaven for sea anglers on holiday and this place is Brixham, where I have always caught and I am rubbish. Good luck and please let the wife out of the van.
🤣🤣🤣 she was reading a book and finished it this time. Yes even though I’m up at least once a year it’s hard and a lot of learning to catch at right places. The heads and pier are good catching marks but my hip lets me down to fish those marks at the minute. Couldn’t get any bait either but did find a bait supply in next villages at end of this holiday, typical. 🤬. You can only fish what’s in front on that tide it’s just hard as you say. Brixham well I shall give it a go looking forward to it. All the best Robert stay safe.

Vern best place is a harbour for them small hooks & bread floating on top of water mate,loads in Kirkpatrick in Scotland mate.

Back in the day vern we used a float and used bread crust for the mullet...fished tetney lock grey soft lipped mullet ...worked well never seen or heard of anybody leadgering for them ..good luck
Plus big blow lug is orsum for bass 10 yards passed the last wave ...but you know that ..stay safe
Yes I need lots of luck 🍀 but watched many catching fish with this method but bread was dry and couldn’t keep it stuck to hook. Kept coming of so better bread next time. Are they still in Tetney lock. All the best.

Went to pub every night apart from day we were there afternoon and evening. But skew wiffy that night.
Whoever told you to fish for mullet that way needs Fisting. All you need is a match float rod plenty of cheap ones out there a small waited carp float with either bread or maggots as a bait and watch for that float to go dawn and be prepared for pulling your pubes our around the old chap as they ain’t easy to set a hook into. I’m watching they video as I’m writing this 👍

As you watch my videos you will see this novice come to many decisions but wanted to use maggots as was told to use them by an old boy I met last year there. Just couldn’t get them. had three blanks on the roll now two on chesil which is 380 mile round trip,why do we do it,on the mullet i use six hook micro rigs of thr float fish and bread often catch more than one,and anything else about
That sounds good that must be in a harbour for the depth. Will bear that in mind if I’m right. Only 2 or 3 ft deep at this mark on the margins. Wanted maggots but couldn’t find where to buy them up there. Blanks don’t matter to much unless you travel a long way and mates catch around you make it worse. Not had to endure that yet🤣🤣🤗. mate, Cumbria is the most disappointing place ive been to so far, apart from tunisia.the drive is nice but the coastline is shite. Yorkshire coastline looks far nicer.
Better pubs in Cumbria where we stay. In fact as we’ve got older we have realised we go to drink in the pub🤣🤗. The pier and the heads fish okay but I’m knackered to fish those. But I feel you may be spit on for the last two years. All the best stay safe.
