How To Hold And Turn A Steering Wheel-Driving Lesson

In this video, I show you how to hold and turn a steering wheel. It's a simple driving lesson, and I show you a beginner skill! I outline the process for holding/turning the wheel with two hands and one hand (I believe that it's important to know how to do both). These skills will allow you to keep your car centered in a lane while driving, and steer through turns smoothly.

I passed my test a few years ago in UK. They do allow hand over hand. People are right though it did get banned. Just never take one hand off the steering wheel. Passing the wheel through your fingers is easily done just relax and practice. I had one minor for getting overtaken by a faster car on a B road while it was raining. I was travelling at 50mph. Anyone learning good luck!

Thanks for a great video, going to show my son who is learning now and we are debating the various methods. Just a comment on the 1 handed method: You show it while standing still, but when moving, and more so the faster you go, your body will be thrown by the turning, and thus it become a less safe method of steering around corners because you 1 hand can easily slip off the wheel and then you could be in trouble. So really just for slow speed e.g. parking etc, or going mostly straight

Regarding 1 hand on steering wheel approach could person also use one hand between 6 and 9 position to rotate wheel Not just the 12pm position? (Or is that too awkward)
