  • The Field Company No. 12 Skillet
    For those of you who desired a Field Company cast iron skillet that was a little bit larger, the wait is over. In this video, I give you a look at the new and beautiful #12 Field Company cast iron skillet. This is a gorgeous 13.25" skillet that weighs in at approximately 8 pounds.
    The 12 and all other Field Company skillets now shipping feature Field Company's new 'seasoning 2.0.' Field Company went back to the drawing board and developed a seasoning technique that is much more durable than before. I have tested this new seasoning on a #10 skillet and believe they set the bar incredibly high with this new method. Field Company skillets, as you can see in this video, season well and remain seasoned. To me, that is one of the marks of a great skillet!!

    I grew up hating cast iron skillets. I thought they always rusted and things stuck to them. I did not know how to use them and my mother was not the best care taker of them. So, I used plenty of nonstick pans for years and years. Finally, I saw a video about the best restaurant seared steak happens in a cast-iron or high carbon steel pan. And because I love a good steak I have been on a mission, that finally lead me to cast iron cookware. Every since I have a substantial collection of modern cast iron skillets, grill pans, enameled, and etc by Lodge, Finex, Camp Chef, and Le Creuset, and Blanc Creatives. I will never go back. This has upped my cooking game to the nth degree. BTW, I have made your mother's ultimate five cheese macaroni and cheese more than 4 times and it is our go to recipe. Everyone that has eaten it, loves it!

      That's a great story Gypsy. Yeah in addition to the sear you mentioned, I can't believe how the iron actually imparts flavor into food too. Let's hope we can get Jeffery to stick around and make more videos too.

    I have the No. 8 First Casting as well. Go in early on Kickstarter.
    Have since bought the No. 10 & No. 12. They really are fantastic pans.
    Use the No. 12 almost exclusively. It is just that handy.

    I ask because though I bought a pre-seasoned Stargazer skillet the seasoning was insufficient for even my first attempt cooking in it (bacon & eggs). I don’t want to mistake and buy something I have to season 10 times before it works.

    What are your opinions on chainmail for cleaning?

  • @mmyr123
    @mmyr123 3 роки тому

    I got a number 10 last week and it did not come in perfect. The milling was bad on one edge. Also the seasoning has come off after frying one steak. It left a chalkline imprint of the steak in the middle of the pan. I then notice it was coming off my other number eight so I put them in the oven on self clean to start over without their preseason because I don't know what is in the seasoning and don't want to eat it. The pans are really nice but the seasoning in not good. Also the customer service is subpar. Got one email back and nothing on my response for help. They don't answer the phone either. All they have is direct voicemail.

    Not to insult anyone, but I bought a vintage Griswold (estimated to be about 90 to 100 years old) for $1. (YES ONE DOLLAR!) at a yard sale! Out of the 6 skillets I own, it is my favorite! I would NEVER buy a new one again! You can find all brands at yard sales, thrift stores etc... With a little elbow-grease you can restore it 100% and have a better one that is made today!!! Just MY opinion!!!

When you call them you get an answering service, not the company at all. So now we don’t have the skillet, they haven’t gen us a refund.
