    It would be good if there was a kit that fixed the diff alignment issue. I'm convinced thats what causes so many breakages. I have done a 50mm lift, diff drop and front locker and still blow CVs. The diff sits back from between the hubs so is always on an angle.

      LowRangeNick Thanks for your reply. One of the things I like about an auto locker on the front is you get to keep good steering on corners. It will also stay unlocked in 2wd mode. About the only disadvantage i can think of is an icy road where it may be counterproductive due to the low friction failing to unlock on a corner. Not too much ice in QLD thou.

    I have a factory manual for my MUX which shows the various jacking points and suggest to jack the front of the vehicle position the jack under the center of the engine using the cross member. It would appear to do this one would have to remove the crash protection. Is this why you always jack using the chassis member on the side?

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  2 роки тому

      Yeah that's correct. I usually jack under the front control arms and then put the jack stands under the chassis.

    Hey mate love the vids so helpful for all of us dmax /mux owners out here, just a question the diff mount bolt through the crossmember does that have to be done up all the way so the rubber washers or bushes are hard up against the diff mount or should there be room for it to move ?👍👍

    Love your videos. I am in the process to install a diff drop (like yours) on my Dmax , fews questions:
    how much torque NM do you tighten the four bolts on the cross bar and the two long ones to the chassis?

    Thanks
    Al

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  3 роки тому +2

      Not sure on the actual torque for the bolts. Just do them up nice and tight haha. I think the oval spacer is to raise the diff 5mm if you don't have as much lift and don't need the diff dropped the whole 30mm.

    Hiya, apologies for the long comment. But I'm hoping you can help. So the general thoughts are, you only need a diff drop for a lift 2'' (roughly 50mm) or more. Correct? So over here in the UK, I can get an ISUZU APPROVED Pedders 1.75'' lift kit for my D'max. Won't hurt the warranty of the vehicle and so on. Sounds great. But why, if a diff drop is for 50mm or more, are the diff drops so small? Only 30mm? Even after fitting one, you still wouldn't be bringing it back to the factory height right? I mean, I could fit one to my D'max after the very small 1.75'' Pedders lift, and it wouldn't even bring her back straight. So why am I advised I don't need one unless the lift is over 2'', and if that's the case, why don't they drop the diff further? Just none of it is adding up to me? Regards.

    • @LowRangeNick

    Nick what is the advantage of raising the vehicle and then lowering the diff. Surely that means you have made no difference to the vehicle clearance. So why do the lift?

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  4 роки тому

      Fitting the diff drop doesnt decrease the clearance underneath the cross member by much at all. Maybe 5mm. In most IFS vehicles the clearance under the front won't be what gets the vehicle hung up the large rear diff usually sits quite a bit lower and is where you will get stuck.

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  4 роки тому

      @Mud & MUX The new crossmember only sits about 5mm lower then the factory one. The design is different to the factory one so that it drops the diff 30mm but only sits about 5mm lower underneath the vehicle.

  • @einfelder8262

    You have practically no down travel - you need to fix your upper control arms to gain down travel, especially since you now have better angles on the shafts.

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  4 роки тому +1

      If you put longer upper control arms onto the Isuzus without the correct bumpstop length in between the tierod end becomes over extended and can bend and destroy itself. The balljoints like to fall out of the aftermarket arms as well.

    Do you have more than a 2inch lift?

    Could this be done without jacking the car up?

      Yep, just makes it easier to get underneath.

      @@LowRangeNick I'm thinking to do a 40/50mm on the new dmax and really don't want to do a diff drop because I got some custom bash plate... Pray for the cv hold haha

      @@LowRangeNick apparently you can fit straight 33 without lift on the new dmax so no need of a big lift... I'll try to get 45mm lift to play it safe... Thanks Nick for your help!!!

    If you lower it 30 mils .. sort of defeats why you lift it

      It only drops the crossmember 5mm lower than the standard one. If you are going to get hung up on anything it will be the rear diff not under the front. The front clearance is 280mm and rear diff is 240mm.
