At some point they let the artists give them a layer for foils what to highlight and the foil looked different from the regular art. Today way too many foils are just outright making the art darker and have absolutely no highlights at all. Unglued had really nice foils that had different artwork even with foil, adding some hidden details. Some of the Karlov Manor cards also do that, most people dont even know it, putting some special signs in the cards thats only visible in foil. If the foil is used to give the artwork another level of complexity then its great, sadly they fail to do that quite often now.
For me it isn't the foiling process itself (though some definitely look worse than others), its that all the modern ones f-ing PRINGLE! Everything from 8th edition and before never pringled quite like this. I have cards from 1998 that are still as flat as the day they came out of the pack...
I am not interest in foil cards perhaps I am not a extreme collector and I always wonder if I get the point making cards I wonder what they would look like.
I find the Step-and-Complete foil and Invisible Ink foil to be some of the dumbest foil ideas ever. You’re telling me that it’s a traditional foil but with the Phyrexian insignia haphazardly thrown on in a grid pattern? Or a traditional foil that gives what some corpo thinks are funny detective notes if you own a blacklight? Why do people like these?
Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines 4W Legendary Creature - Phyrexian Praetor Vigilance If a permanent entering the battlefield under your control would cause an ability of a permanent you control to trigger it triggers an additional time. Permanents entering the battlefield under your opponents'' control do not cause abilities to trigger. 4/7 (note: this was done from memory so the wording is likely a bit off, but you get the gist)
I ❤your take hilarious😂😅🤣🤣well done😊

Foil Foil yeah Kirby sees what you did there. Poyo Poyo.
Foil Foil!! Foil Foil!!
Am I going crazy with being weirded out by so many unnecessary foils? 😅
No - only wanting one foil is considered normal.
0:17 ugh, look at that card I feel like we're at a rave 😀.
Im only interested in the Foils I enjoy the artwork of. To be fair a lot of them are fine though and it kinda works for the sets they are in.

Disagree with your takes on Foil Etched and the FTV foils, but seriously…Step and Compleat gets a better rating?…that is the worst foiling.
