Whoa, I'm envious of that standalone Thinkpad keyboard. These things (I mean keyboards on Thinkpads, up to 420/520 series) are so wonderful and tactile.
Having a wireless one would be even better. Just imagine local console debugging a Raspberry Pi when you can't just SSH into it... :)
As for renaming interfaces, I'm OK with it only when they're radically reengineered in a way that breaks forward and backward compatibility.
The server looks really nicely packed on the inside. Just like TARDIS. 12 cores (24 threads? not sure if these Xeons support HT), 16 ECC DDR3 slots - all that in a single rack unit, I'd totally take it. No need for anything bigger for webserver+storage.

I have that server, it's nice 🙂 I am running Fedora Linux on it, it can't run current versions of RHEL or CentOS because drivers just aren't available in the enterprise kernel but latest Fedora is great, passed through the USB serial interface to the imm into a server 2012 VM and was able to update the firmware that way. I am mostly using it as a lab server for spinning up VM's and containers 👍 I was planning on getting more storage but not currently a high priority.

WOWOW Thank excellent great info for my "Ordeal By Fire" - im in thailand and I paid 66 pounds for one and its got ProxMox in it (no login data) and what maybe a small IDE drive under the raid controller I'll examine the raid controller to see if it has the 2TB limitations and examine the MMI to see if I need a key, just ordered another whole one for spares and maybe the second CPU/RAM shall cannibalise out, as I only need one test server, I thought well what the heck I'll buy one instead of making a NAS out of fartberry pies or wasting money on a NAS which I did many time before elsewhere and hated it. SO grateful for your video - our power supplies here are cheaper than anything and noise doesnt worry me as I have an RF test bunker where it is going to live at the end of my fibre under the garden! (yes I put my own 63mm MDPE utility pipes in everywhere as I built my own house!! Great "ab initio help" for me clip... PS I don't care how old it is, I am 71, so I've seen it all since 1979 and making computers the size of twenty 2 U racks work hahaha!! Anyway, my second (and final ) marriage is 13 years old so as the wedding bells chimed (or the monks chanted in my case) this was getting made 🙂!!!!! tak skal du have!
