    Oh sure, I see this AFTER I have sorted my axles, thanks a lot!!! Makes me want to dump them back into a coffee can, build this just so I can resort them!

      Just imagine... You build a Piece sorter but you don't have pieces to sort, 'cause you used them to build the piece sorter... frustrating

      TheAllBlackMan well if the machine was faster it would be more rather into his own efficiency. You could save time like this if you have that many parts and God knows there are plenty of people that do

      I used to work in the lumber mills industry and I programmed/automated stuff like this all day, controlling motors, encoders, hydraulic valves/pistons etc , the concept is the same to sort 2*3, 2*4, 2*6, 2*8 & 2*10 of different lengths

    Wow. This is incredible. I have attempted to build a LEGO axle sorter 3 times now, and failed each time. I am blow away with your solutions to many of the issues I had. I am amazed. Well done.

    This is probably still the best design concept for axel sorting, alot of other designs tend to not sort the smaller axels very well.

    An other great machine with 1 motor. Not as complicatied as I am used too from you, but again a great feet of enginering. Nice to see something different instead of a GBC module :) Looking forward to your next stuff

      @@avic6069 super easy, Just build a slope with holes from small to big. The big Coins roll over the small holes until the hole is big enough. Cheers

    I reckon the lifting of the axles by scissor action and rejecting the excess ones, for when the sorter is not ready to accept more, is the real genius part in all of this. The rest is quite straight forward but still cool!

      Garth Palmer Yes, but space isn't a problem. I just need to find an open plain, and here in Sweden, as long as I inform the Government of my business and ask them for their permission, it's all good.

    An old design concept but still neat to see in action. This is somewhat similar to how the old Linotype distributor worked to return the matrices to their proper channels in the magazine after casting a line of type.

      Alex What I can tell is, they are sorted by length by moved over the various gaps , but I don’t get how they sort them by color, since there seemed to be gray and black ones of the same length in the mix...

    If I had not seen this with my own eyes, I would not have believed it to be possible. Seeing this and the creator's other mechanical creations leads me to believe that anything is possible with Legos.

    Thanks. You won't believe how similar my next brick sorter is to your axle sorter. Especially with the spill-over technique for sorting. I've developed a nice funnel for queing the bricks though which you will like. Congratulations on this - best yet in my opinion.

    Interesting! I've always thought about something like this, but in my mind I've always conceived the pieces being sorted with holes which get smaller in length for each piece.

    Thats maad. As a suggestion; you should make a filter that sorts every lego piece into boxes. Then when you buy new pieces, you just put them into the machine and it does all the work for you!

    The rods have different lengths according to color. The reds are very short. The even sized ones are black and the odd sized ones are gray.

    I like the fact that it's only old fashioned Lego Technic. No Mindstorms or sensors - just mechanics :P I remember that speed controller from my Lego trains :D
