I just love these piloting movies. So many show only video's from the point of view from people on the ground. Where i just love flying helicopters myself in Arma and in the Battlefield games. Keep up the great work!
hi there found you channel through chKilroy and Beagle you three make really good videos and your whole set up seems really good, definatly earned a subscriber
"Air, ground, that was high-speed as shit!" I love this game. Dslyecxi, your videos are awesome... inspired me to get back into PC gaming after eight years (last time I played OFP). Great work.
Haha, I love how the mission design seemed to go for revoking a few laughs at times rather than simulate an actual Battlefield :D Also: thanks for uploading another transport video, these+command videos are by far my favourite.
The technique is done by reducing throttle to as little as possible (as to prevent the motor from adding any additional energy to your craft) Then pulling back on the stick as hard as you can, UNLESS your altitude starts increasing (then you're pulling too far back) Thus, pulling all of the speed out of your flight but you're not climbing either.
I can't see it, but it matches what the crew is saying. Thanks for point it out. :) I wasn't sure if for some reason it thought he landed too hard or something like that.
I'm a combat veteran from Iraq 07-08 and Afghanistan 10-11 i was a army infantry and from my real life experience this is the most realistic game out there. For those that say c.o.d is more realistic if you haven't been in combat u can't say if a game is realistic or Nat. This game is so real we have a soldier that prepared a real life combat mission brief. He left every nco and oficer in that mission brif room so impressed!!! That they wanted him doing brih in HQ
If I saw a missle hit you, then that's what I'd have said, I saw no missle and the guy I replied to obviously saw no missle either. I'm no expert at arma2 choppering, much like most viewers, I can't tell which beeping means what in every type of vehicle, but hey, thanks for clearing that up!
One thing I'd like to see more is some brief info on what went well/wrong. In this match, it would be good to know how so many were slaughtered and what might have been done differently in the future.
Let me Google that for you: Man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS or MPADS) are shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles (SAMs). They are typically guided weapons and are a threat to low-flying aircraft, especially helicopters.
Funny using the Term Chinookery, I coined that very word in May of 2004 at Ft Campbell workin CH-47 RESET Program. :-) Nice vid though. Outta try the real deal. It is the only time in my life I have felt VMA (Very Much Alive)
Honestly, it's a completely different game from BF3. I've had alot of fun with both, and have found that there are some great aspects in both games that I wish the other had. If nothing else, it's a slower paced game that can be much more rewarding when you achieve success, and I've found alot of little tricks from playing it that have helped me improve my BF3 K/D as well.
Thanks for the great videos! I would like to see a mortar section (three or four 81 mm or smaller calibre mortars) and the necessary forward observers being attached to the company HQ under appropriate circumstances. I imagine coordinated artillery support would just add so much more battlefield immersion. Is indirect fire support too difficult to manage? Sorry about being off-topic here. I tried to post on the channel comment section, but that didn't seem to work.
man great skill id love to do what you guys do especially transport or rotary wing i just wish i had the time to do it (school and other important commitments)
oh really ? looked liked you died when you bailed from the chinook, but.. also was more so a black out.. soo.. any landing you die in is a good one, so nice work :D
Don't go too fast, pull the throttle all the way down and only lift the nose SLIGHTLY. You should aim to be slowing down about 500-800M before your landing and if you overshoot it, do a circle of the LZ to slow down.
What method do you use to flare up, dump speed but retain a low altitude? I have spent a while in the editor trying to figure it out with multiple aircraft but I cannot seem to get the hang of it!
He IS pulling up, but simultaneously lowering collective. The two when used together like that result in net 0 change in alt., with the desired reduction in air speed. Watch Dslyecxi (LOL just got that now - typing it for the first time.. anyways) "art of flight" series - explains it well
Does Arma calculate for passenger weight either in vanilla or by mod when maneuvering or does it operate just the same? I've never piloted a Chinook, so I have no idea.
probarbly anotehr question which has been answered in countless videos and posts, but what joystick setup do you use + hatswitch layouts, like you zoom alot, does that mean you use your control colum buttons to zoom?
Normally I would just comment naturally but I would really like if you saw this directly. When engaging the BRDM was the gunners Tracers incorrectly displaying from your perspective? Because rounds seemed to be hitting target but tracers were way off. I've noticed this in other armed vehicles/aircraft and wondering if it's the case here.
Well I think beeping in most if not all aircrafts means the same thing. However I didn't see a missile either but I figured it was one considering the beeping.
Why is flying in formation important? For instance, if Phantom 1 returns to base and loads troops, then waits on the ground for Phantom 2 and 3 to land and load, is that not better than waiting at low speed off the coast of a known enemy position? Basically I am thinking that the friendly airbase is a safer place to be and RTB should be priority, or am I wrong?
The idea of formation flying with multiple transports in one group came out of Vietnam. As much as that statement is right, the formation allows multiple aircraft to use door gunners combined firepower to cover each other, as well as multiple aircraft means multiple targets to be divided by the enemies fire power. There is also a command aspect, a formation allows the insert of multiple chalks of an entire platoon at the same time and doesn't leave the troops exposed. This is especially true when you have 32 aircraft or something. Also, bush did 9/11 and climate change melts steel beams.
Is it just me or the command at the start of the missions is always the same guy? Also, love the ending,i'm guessing that some enemy infantry got close to the airway.
Mr. Dslyexci, At 21:54 you said to the other two Chinooks "Make sure your gunners are very careful [something] IFF. We have friendlies and hostiles mixed all over this area." What does IFF mean?
I just love these piloting movies. So many show only video's from the point of view from people on the ground. Where i just love flying helicopters myself in Arma and in the Battlefield games. Keep up the great work!
Some of my favorite things from Arma: Chinooks, and Sahrani. Great video man!
hi there found you channel through chKilroy and Beagle you three make really good videos and your whole set up seems really good, definatly earned a subscriber
i love your Pilot videos, apart from traveling there is never a dull moment, great video as always.
Yes! I love the Chinook! I'm sad that you don't use it often from what i have seen. I am happy to see you guys flying it
Classic rewatch... love the absolute snicker and mess with them at end. Haha
"Air, ground, that was high-speed as shit!"
I love this game. Dslyecxi, your videos are awesome... inspired me to get back into PC gaming after eight years (last time I played OFP). Great work.
This is really impressive. Enjoyable to watch! Well done.
DAMN THATS SOME GOOD FLYING MAN, ESPECIALLY THE EMERGENCY LANDING AT THE END.
Haha, I love how the mission design seemed to go for revoking a few laughs at times rather than simulate an actual Battlefield :D
Also: thanks for uploading another transport video, these+command videos are by far my favourite.
Awesome! Between the BDM Rally and his motorbike blitzkrieg in I44, I'd love to have another active ShackTac'er in my sub-box!
Hooray! The Chinook is my favorite helicopter ever since C&C Renegade!

Then pulling back on the stick as hard as you can, UNLESS your altitude starts increasing (then you're pulling too far back)
Thus, pulling all of the speed out of your flight but you're not climbing either.
Thank you very much! I end up gaining altitude so I will follow what you said and monitor how far I pull back.
Nice Profile picture
Dslyecxi, please tell whoever made this mission that they did a good job and that they should feel proud.
I can't see it, but it matches what the crew is saying. Thanks for point it out. :) I wasn't sure if for some reason it thought he landed too hard or something like that.

I love how everyone in the back yelled out "Oh shit!" in unison when that rocket hit.

Those callsigns, "Phantom", made me nostalgic. Phantom 1 used to be my callsign.
Kevbo likes command positions, huh? That's cool, he really has the voice for it.
"EI sunbathing", nice. Was Kilroy on this mission, lol.
Let me Google that for you:

the Mi-24 HIND. It was built as an attack chopper that can drop a squad of VDV or Spetznaz.
Excellent video has always Dsylecxi!! Be great if you could put in an AAR tho at the end of the vid.
Sahrani is one of the best maps in my opinion
This kind of group (there are others as well) are basically as close as you'll get in a game to real life. As accurate as possible.
very nice flying, didnt expect shit going down in the very end :P
"2 is down"... god, that scared the shit out of me and I'm not even playing!
I know, you need to do applications and so forth, but I just want to get a idea on the mods needed. (Thanks for commenting back)
God this is so cool, I'd give so much to fly with you guys and do ops like these.
Awesome, Loving these videos. Thanks for uploading this.
Had zero interest in the game an hour ago, these vids have changed all that. Great stuff.
00:15 - Dslyecxi is so awesome that his beard covers his entire chest :P
It stands for Man-Portable Air Defense Systems. Basically, it's a fancy name for Shoulder-fired Surface-to-Air missiles like the Stinger or Igla.
I guess one man's due diligence is another man's ego trip.

:O noway! wow, such skill! (oh and internal explosion on the response :P )
Heh watching this in 360p reminds me of an old flight sim game.

Ah i see. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Keep up the god work.
Great video ,makes me want to play ARMA2 .
watched this listening to Shostakovich's 1st mvt of the 11th Symphony...
WHOLE new dimension
It's Shacktac. Thats just the way it plays out.
That was pretty cool, would be great playing with you guys.
Looks like alot of fun. And respawns.
Is that for every armed vehicle?
Also Love the videos. I've learnt a lot from you Piloting tutorials.
man great skill id love to do what you guys do especially transport or rotary wing i just wish i had the time to do it (school and other important commitments)

if only battlefield 3 was like this, a man can dream..... a man can dream ;(
dslyecxi is there any way you can highlight what youve spotted in your aerial videos? kinda hard to see what youve seen..
He IS pulling up, but simultaneously lowering collective. The two when used together like that result in net 0 change in alt., with the desired reduction in air speed. Watch Dslyecxi (LOL just got that now - typing it for the first time.. anyways) "art of flight" series - explains it well
for me...the rear of a chinook looks just like a frog going "aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh"
Imagine if there were 2 dyxlecxi's... One as a pilot and one as a gunner. They would be a legendary team! xD
oh cool my favorite helicopter! so badass, when I was a 4 I called them 'double booga boogas' :3
Does Arma calculate for passenger weight either in vanilla or by mod when maneuvering or does it operate just the same? I've never piloted a Chinook, so I have no idea.
The dangers of enemy contact so close to the airfield.
You wanted to get hit by the missile didn't you hahaha.
It's Sahrani. It comes with Arma1, and you need CAA1 to play it in Arma 2
Oh i thought it was. Haha! Maybe you could ping them someday and the coop together. OH MAN THAT WILL BE EPIC!
probarbly anotehr question which has been answered in countless videos and posts, but what joystick setup do you use + hatswitch layouts, like you zoom alot, does that mean you use your control colum buttons to zoom?
Great video!
awesome stuff once again :)
Im curious, what time do you guys play at like in British time or just tell the normal time for you (American Time) and i can type it in.
Normally I would just comment naturally but I would really like if you saw this directly.

Hey Dslyecxi i was wondering how you got the cinematics in the begging or how you recorded it
Dslyecxi's face is in the game, cool.
What happened at the end of that? Did you guys take enemy fire right at the airfield as you were landing?
Well I think beeping in most if not all aircrafts means the same thing. However I didn't see a missile either but I figured it was one considering the beeping.
How do you enable Auto flares? I've seen burst and semi, but not this.
LOL what happened at the very end I know a missile hit you but I want to know the conclusion to that mission! :) nice video
what do u use for flying mate keyboard or a joystick ??? ether way u r amazing
Yus, I love your flying vids :D
i always wanted to see how you use the chinook.
Sick bro
Yeah, thanks Tony, it's very exclusive. I got it.
I would so love to join this unit!
Far be it from me to question command decisions, but is there a reason why 2Pl didn't just move across-land toward their target?
Why were you whispering to establish comms with Company around 28:00?
What do you use that changes the placement of the radar?

28:42 OH GOD THEY'ER LEARNING!!!!
Just a quick question, what's the criteria you have to hit to become a pilot in a misson? Because I can't imagine you'd let the pFNGs take control.
ill keep that in mind
Is it just me or the command at the start of the missions is always the same guy? Also, love the ending,i'm guessing that some enemy infantry got close to the airway.
What is it with the radio static sometimes? It sounds like Slenderman is commanding 1st platoon or something.
Hey Dslyexci ur videos are awesome and always interesting, i was wondering if u are in a certain clan/group and if u are then would i be able to join
So, what exactly happened after the heli got hit? Did the mission end or was vengeance achieved?
what was the point of landing a platoon on the island? seems like there was no fighting until estrella.
Did you find out what hit you guys at the end?
Please! Can anybody tell me how he gets these cinematic camera shots at the beginning?
Mr. Dslyexci,
At 21:54 you said to the other two Chinooks "Make sure your gunners are very careful [something] IFF. We have friendlies and hostiles mixed all over this area." What does IFF mean?
What's the name of the Russian helo that's like and attack chopper but has a transport compartment?
If someone was interested in joining your ranks what would be process be?
ever thought about live streaming the missions??
Can you make a video showing exactly how much input lag there is (if you haven't already)?
