I am 67 I was put on an adult psychiatric was in 1969 when I was 15 The nurses were judgemental, cruel, and sadistic A version methods were employed including public shaming, seclusion, and painful and humiliating IM injections For months the nurses were ordered shun me until I "came around" I suppose things are better now I have watched many videos training nurses and student nurses to be more sensitive and how to communicate better with psychiatric patients but I am afraid it is way too late for me
I am so sorry this happened to you. That is certainly not the norm now. I hope you never have to experience inpatient mental health care again, however, if you do I hope your experience is much more supportive and therapeutic the next time.
