A Short History:
In 1855, English musician William H. Cummings adapted a section of Mendelssohn’s composition to fit the lyrics of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” which was written by Charles Wesley more than a hundred years earlier. This combination of melody and lyrics has become the song as we know it today.
