I think male vtubers struggle because they haven't found the right medium yet. They essentially took female vtuber gimmick and said "I can do do this to" A positive example of this I feel is GTARP. This medium is essentially filled with extremely popular male vtubers (their gta character essentially acting as their model). And when they collab with others it doesn't feel weird because it a medium they made for themselves and not simply a space they are co-opting.
