I can be overwhelmed with self loathing as a parent because my son is addicted and lives on the street, BUT I will NOT take credit for my daughter turning out to be a pretty cool, stable human being. 🤷🏼♀️

It’s so amazing how we always overthink our errors and shortcomings and feel bad. It’s so consuming.. yet we are not perfect but I learnt the min I have those feelings I must immediately turn to Mama Mary and St Michael and ask for protection. It helps Thank you Father 🙌🏽

Father, these are great! I used this same list when I ran groups for psychiatric rehabilitation. I had them printed out on brightly colored paper and hung up in the group room. I would often refer to them as groups were being held. These groups were for adults that were diagnosed with a mental health disorder (PTSD, Depression, Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar, etc.), but they can be used by all people regardless of whether they have a mental health diagnosis or not. I see people doing these all the time! I'm glad you brought them forward to share. Your words ring so true. God bless you for sharing these. I should do the same.
this is a list of cognitive distortions, these are the underlying proponents of psychological distress that CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) seek to address. For those of you interested the book "Cognitive behaviour therapy, the basics and beyond" written by Judith beck, the daughter of Aaron Beck the founder of CBT. This book will teach you how this psychotherapy works in easy to digest chapters. highly recommend it.
We had a bard here at our Grey Friars healing service last night who was very inspirational. She was trying to inspire us to write poetry or songs , creative writing. She asked us to write there and then if we felt inspired , so i wrote this... very quickly . Its a bit like your topic so i thought i would share it here. Hope thats ok. Defeat demons by receiving Jesus Christ in Holy Communion frequently, visit Him in The Adoration Chapel, pray The Divine Mercy Chaplet & Rosary daily, listen to Gregorian chants, listen to Bible & Catechism in a year podcasts & use Sacramentals. Holy Water is a powerful Sacramental used in exorcisms, to Baptize, bless, cleanse, heal, remit venial sin, grant graces, indulgences & drives demons away. Everyone should keep a bottle & use it daily. Bless yourself, loved ones, home, work space, etc. God tells us in James 4:7 Therefore, be subject to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Hi Father, I m supposed to be getting married. I'm mature and been married before and canonically annulled. This new woman is a Catholic too and of very good character but..quite headstrong and often disputes my decisions and doesn't trust them. I'm also rescuing her from immediate economic hardship. I prayed for disernment and arrived at the above very quickly.
Do you think being married to her will help you get to Heaven? Or not? Will it help her to get to Heaven? Or not? Suffering helps us to 1) be more like Jesus 2) grow in virtues we wouldn’t be able to otherwise. A sacramental Catholic marriage WILL include some suffering.
The thing is, my depressive thoughts about myself aren’t lies. I’m very flawed and the negative thoughts about myself are usually true. I can’t lie to myself and tell me it’s ok
We are all flawed but doesn’t mean we are a failure. I deal with a lot of anxiety and depression. Bad decisions. I am constantly thinking of negative things about myself what he says makes sense, but it takes work.
@@neilmiller617 yeah I hear ya, I’m working on it too but getting nowhere. I pray that you can have healing from your negative thoughts, anxiety and depression. For me I just barely scrape by every day by the grace of God, but the negative things I think about myself aren’t false.
I don't think we can really know how God will judge a person. That said, God's 2 children disobeyed Him by eating the forbidden fruit. So, if God's kids are rebels, our kids will rebel from time to time. Good parents can have disobedient children sometimes.
The rosary often dispels my negative thinking.
