I have a few family photos in my case and usually a few programs from recent concerts I have played in to remind me of people I have played with.
I also have a decent USB rechargeable book light to illuminate the music when I don’t have my large stand light.
I also have strong music mini-magnets to keep the music on the stand.
I put my 12” iPad in the sheet music pocket.
My pencils are 4B (soft) and have the magnetic thing on them to stick to the stand. I also have a decent rubber.
I have also started putting stickers on the outside of my violin case for places I have been to. Wish I had started that when I was younger!
Oh these are all amazing!! And the greatest things for a real violinist haha
What's in my case? A beautiful instrument, a synthetic bow, a sad and incorrectly used little lump of rosin, and the dream that I will some day play >:)
haha, is it possible to incorrectly use rosin?
I was scratching and scoring it instead of just rubbing it on the bow
I also ate a lil bit

@@WanderInobo427.... ... uh. How did it taste?
Hi i also have pictures of my child, a mothersdaycard and 2 pics of when i played for christmas in special places in my case beside the “normal” stuff❤
The way the humidifier was removed from the f-hole gave me a heart attack....
I personally keep up to 3 rosins in my case, nail clippers, peg wax, and cleaner in my case as well as 2 packs of strings because i like to keep back ups, and i personally keep 3 bows because i like to have 1 carbon fiber (i use the diamond nx bow) i have 1 wood bow, and one hybrid bow because i like to have backups and also just to change it up during gigs or if something happens. And aswell i keep my shoulder rest and obviously the violin. I do have 2 cases because of when i travel i like to use my fiberglass case but when im home i use my oblong case
The CodaBow Luma is indeed great! I was doubting between that one and the Joule, and eventually went with the Joule because of its powerful sound. The Luma was soft in sound, but playing it was effortless. 🙂
Oh! I've never tried the Joule...sounds like I need to though!
I don’t have a violin I have viola. Inside my viola case, is my viola and my bow
The mute tip is really good because a couple years ago I would practice with a mute and I didn’t mean to but I practiced often with a mute and I stopped as soon as I realized what it was deteriorating in my skill
Yessss! I’m so glad you figured it out but it’s so crazy how much it masks!
As a cellist i dont get to store a lotta things in my cello case😢
I have 4 sets of strings in my case but they are all strings I’ve played on and most of them are frayed. I should probably get a new set for emergencies. lol. Also dark rosin is better than light rosin. I’ve had dark rosin for 3 years now and I love it
100% on the dark rosin!! I used to have soooo many old strings in my case it was insane. I threw them all out
Hi Corie--love your videos! I bought the shoulder rest you recommended and LOVE it!!! Thanks so much for that tip. I currently use light rosin. Why do you prefer the darker style? I've read that it is used for violists and cellists. I'm willing to try if if it doesn't "gunk up" the hairs on my bows permanently if I decide to go back to light rosin. Thanks so much in advance if you have time to answer this question.
I use dark rosin because I love the stronger, more biting tone it gives. The articulation pops and gives a super clean sound, too. Even though the rosin is technically “stickier”, you won’t even notice that. It’s such a small change that makes such a huge difference.
You're amazing--to have time to answer my question! I truly appreciate it. You've given me the courage to try the dark rosin. I just ordered the brand you recommended.
@@CindyBrown-r4f 🙌🙌 you’re gonna love it!
I used to have a solution that was both cleaner and a polish. Kennedy had a cleaner but I don't think it was a polish. Any suggestions?
I personally don’t trust any of those cleaners/polishes. I take mine into the luthier to have it cleaned professionally. So I don’t honestly have any good recommendations. (I’m sure they’re not as bad as I think they are lol)
What a beautiful video corrie sorry for the 6days late comment i am getting behind on commenting
🙌
Hi Corry, how are you? What Kun shoulderrest would you suggest for a whole size violin? I saw that there are 2 or 3 different onces (i know it is personal but i was curious)
My fiddle case has an extra bow, a rattlesnake rattle and a few greasy coats. You never know... 😂
I think you’re the only one with a rattlesnake rattle in your case! 😂
@@Corrietheviolinist I was joking. I don't carry an extra bow 😆😆
Nice, thanks!
💯
Maybe a stupid question from a total newbie, can you accidentally dislodge the sound post inserting the dehumidifier? I’m a little nervous at the thought of inserting something inside my violin. Also, why dark over light rosin?
I prefer dark rosin over light just because it seems to work better from when i had light rosin.
Strings put about 25+ pounds of pressure onto the sound post when completely in tune. The humidifier is so tiny in comparison there’s not any way it could move the sound post.
Dark rosin is much sticker and bite-ier so gives a much more articulate sound.
A humidifier is definitely important, but the thought of a water-soaked snakesponge inside my violin's f hole is terrifying 😰
Totally! The MOST important thing is to make sure it's thoroughly dried before bringing it anywhere near the violin. I've been using them for years and years since I live in the dessert and they work incredibly well!
My violin case has metal square lock and once I accidently scratched my new violin's back by it sliding gently with its own gravity weight over its edge leaving 2 inch mark :(. I wonder if its easy to fix it in a way that it will not be noticable when looking from close distance or maybe i should leave it as first battle scar
ohhh my gosh I had a violin with literally the same battle scar! Maybe take it to your luthier and see what your options would be?
