Ty sweetie for showing and explaining this tenique so well.. I sold my Scarlett years ago and have not been able to find her again since! I loved seeing your little angel 🥰❤ Hugs and love Nana 💗 ❤️ 😍
Thank you so much for sharing such a helpful tip !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏 you’re amazing to empower and help out collectors with tips like this !!! 3:4 limbs isn’t bad 👍🏻 you’re right !! Let’s get back to 3/4 and not be so afraid of it. We embrace cuddle babies and 1/4 limb so what’s the stigma honestly ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I guess the stigma started when full limb dolls were created . I have two Scarlett’s and the feet are the best !!! Thumper 🐰 lol 🐇
Hi obsession! If the hair is drawn, most likely it is done with Prisma pencil. That is something you can do yourself and follow the pattern of the hair. You can then seal it with varnish!
Hello, I was wondering how something like this would be done with a rooted baby??? Or do you have to send in rooted ones for repair with this? Asking because I have a little boy who is rooted. Thank you in advance!
Hi there! I’m having trouble finding the soft touch varnish anywhere in stock that isn’t expensive. Any alternatives? Or did they update the name/packaging? Thanks in advance!
I’ve heard bad things about other brands and ultra matte for example makes the dolls shinier (go figure). I found some here: www.dickblick.com/items/americana-decor-varnish-soft-touch-8-oz-jar/?clicktracking=true&wmcp=pla&wmcid=items&wmckw=00088-1356&country=us¤cy=usd&gad_source=1
I added sealer on my doll’s hair and it’s a little shinier and somewhat gritty. I’m wondering if I can use this over that and correct the problem? Should I somehow lightly sand the other area first??
Thank you sooo much for this information! I really needed this! Am purchasing this today and cannot wait to try it!! Can this also work on factory made dolls, I have a paradise galleries doll that is shiny?
Hi Brittany! I’m not sure as I have never experienced this. What brand of varnish did you use? Can you email me photos so I can maybe help you out better? Stardustandmoonlightreborns@gmail.com
Hi Simone! Only vinyl. For taking shine away from silicone, silicone only must be used. Equal parts of a &b silicone can be mixed and brushed over shiny spots, then special silicone matting powder like “just matte “ can be lightly sprinkled over that area and just let it sit and cure for a few hours then rinse off excess powder.
Will this technique help remove shine from other vinyl dolls as well? I have a Susan Lippl doll whose arms and neck have some shine to them. I want to reduce the shine. Thanks.
It should hold up for a very long time. But the good thing about this is you will know how to do touch ups for when fingers and toes start getting shiny.

Oh I’m sorry! Selling and missing a doll is so tough!
I don’t mind 3/4 arms but not legs. I found this video again and shared in my channel. This has helped so many of us. Thank you!❤❤❤❤

Any time!
Thank you so much for this!! I purchased the products and was soooo proud of myself to be able to do this myself. Thank you very much!
I’m so glad this helped! Woohoo 🥳 🥰
She looks so much better, I'm thinking of buying a baby with some hair missing, how would you go about redoing drawn hair?

@@obsesssion thank you! I’m so glad you’re here 😃
Is the featured doll made of silicone or vinyl?
Vinyl. This is the Scarlet sculpt by Bonnie Brown 😊
@@stardustandmoonlightthank you. My first reborn is vinyl, came here to find out how to correct the shine. You are more than helpful. ❤
Hello! Do you recommend putting on one layer or two of the varnish?
I just do one. But it shouldn’t hurt to do two. I would just wait 24 hours before applying the second so you can be sure that it cures properly 💕
Hello, I was wondering how something like this would be done with a rooted baby??? Or do you have to send in rooted ones for repair with this? Asking because I have a little boy who is rooted. Thank you in advance!
Hi! You can do it with a rooted baby. You’ll just want to work around the hair ☺️
To add a little bit of texture, how do you mix cornstarch in and how much.
Hi Marilyn! I would use 20 drops distilled water, 1/4 tsp. Corn Starch, 1 spoonful of Varnish

I wouldn’t put this in the hair. Did the sealer accidentally get into the hair?
I’m sorry, I should have clarified that it was painted hair.
@@MMC85 oh I see! I don’t think this will take away the grittiness but it should help with any shine 🥰

@@stardustandmoonlight oh great! That's so awesome, I ordered the varnish and sponges from Amazon. 😊😊

Does this method work on air dry painted reborn dolls?
It should, yes!
Can we use this method for our Ashton Drake or Paradise Galleries dolls?
I don’t see why not. Maybe test an area first and give it a few days. ♥️
I applied 2 coats over my reborn and it started to peel in certain areas. Did I apply too much?

You’re so welcome and thanks for watching 😘
How long do you let it dry for?
It dries rather quickly (within minutes), but the recommendation is to leave it for several hours to set.

Thanks for sharing will give it a try😊

Hi can you do this on a reborn that was painted with ghs paint 😊
Hi Aisha! Yes, I’ve used it on GHS 😊
This is helpful but id probably just take the doll aprt first, but i get not everyone is confrtbule doing that
True. A lot of collectors aren’t.

Hi Desmodus. It should work fine on any kind of vinyl doll. I would practice on the back of the leg first and see how that works. 😊
