Think about it from chara perspective chara never wanted to do genocide in the first place chara is a separate character then the player the player is the one who commits it but chara tries to stop it so seeing sans actually succeed in stopping the player and genocide as a whole why wouldn't they be happy about getting beaten to a pulp
