Thank you for also talking about how 75 minutes usually turns into 2 or 3 hours. That doesn't get mentioned enough by our UA-cam Canning Queens & Gurus (my perspective, lol) and was a real surprise to me when I started canning. Time management challenges... 🙄 🤣 Also, I only used filtered water for all aspects of canning. I'm on a well, in the high mineral, high desert Southwest, and the whole vinegar thing gets too futzy for me. I use my vinegar for lots of other things, just not canning, lol. Thanks again! 🙏🏼💕
🗝🤗💜 Absolutely! When I first began teaching I always emphasized a good time management plan because once you begin you are committed to completion. 25 for Canning stock IS fast, but coming up to pressure, venting, processing time, de- pressurized time and cool down ALL take time. A video just focused on that is coming in my Beginning Canning Basics Series.
With me new to canning. I added both white & dark meat when I was canning turkey. I tried both raw packed & hot packed. I preferred raw pack for the whole turkey.
🗝🤗 I prefer raw pack for all meats. Just a preference for me. I like the way Pre-browning LOOKS in jars, but raw pack flavor and texture is much better.
🗝🤗 YES! The least expensive meat to buy! With a whole turkey you can get SO many different meal ideas to use your canned turkey and canned turkey stock!
Thank you so much! I have been canning for a long time…but just canned meat for the first time this year! I don’t know why I was so afraid to do this. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! I need to can some turkey now!
I've never used Cream of Tartar. Try adding 1/2 cup vinegar to the canner water. We live at the beach and our water is Very hard. Vinegar always works for me.
I didn’t think about it before Thanksgiving but I should have gotten a cheap turkey when I got my groceries. Others in the family ‘won’t’ eat it but I will. I’m sure if that’s all there was on the shelf they’d eat it for sure. I’ll be canning turkey by Christmas!
🗝💜🤗 Just be sure to bring temp up slowly. Hot food, Hot Jars, hot Canner. Cool food, cool jars, cool Canner. Trust the Canning process, you will do great! Welcome to my Channel! 💜
@patriciacleghorn979 I add nothing until I use it in whatever Dish I use for. . I add fresh Garlic to meats sometime . Maybe a pinch of salt and Pepper in a few jars, but that is it. 💜
@bicyclenameable I add No Salt. The turkey makes it's own Broth and literally fills up the Jar, so you just add the meat nothing else and have Turkey with Delicious Healthy Turkey Broth. 💜 If you need to add seasonings add them when you are using the Turkey for your meals.
🗝🤗 Turkey soup ( with the canned turkey broth) Turkey pot pies, turkey salad for sandwiches , turkey casserole. You can use Turkey in place of chicken in any recipe! SO many great lunch and dinner ideas and recipes!
@brendahaselden2427 Not usually, no. Sometimes to Chicken I will add Better Than Buillion if I want to season it for soup or even for chicken salad. But salt, no. 💜
@@DianeTheCanningNana Thank you so much. I always want to see more of the prep stuff before canning or even afterwards. Sometimes I feel like I’m cutting the pieces too large etc… Thanks for all your great videos. I’m hooked!
I love the idea of canning turkey for future uses during the winter months. Getting a fresh turkey certainly makes sense.
🗝🤗 Yes! And they are not expensive around this time of year! What other kind of meats costs less than $1 per pound?

You can add cream of tartar, it is the only thing that works . Vinegar didn't do anything for me for the white residual stuff.
I've never used Cream of Tartar. Try adding 1/2 cup vinegar to the canner water. We live at the beach and our water is Very hard. Vinegar always works for me.
Canning turkey sounds so easy
🗝🤗💜
Canning turkey is something I haven't done yet, but I do have one in the freezer that needs to be processed.
🗝🤗
Citric acid or cream of tarter works better than the vinegar in your canner.
I don't like the way they leave the canner with black marks. Vinegar works much better for me here with our water and no marks
