Groovy long leg is one of the best bosses in pikmin history. I love his tune and I love the fight. Wish there will be more disco themed enemies in the future
I wish the caves had more unique mechanics into them, the cave that groove's appears could have some plataforms moving on the rhythm of a song, rhythm based enemies and things like that
i just tested this and its not actually attacking the leg that makes it do that all you have to do is keep consistent damage with no breaks is you throw pikmin onto the orb and only stop attacking to call them back when it shakes or spays drugs and immediately throw them back on after it stops it will also cause this to happen i tested this with red and yellow pikmin and it works with both
Thanks for testing that. I thought attacking the leg was the specific trigger for him tripping. I guess Oatchi is the easier/more consistent method (assuming he doesn't get squished)
@Owlero there are multiple ways to make the Groovy Long Legs trip. Some people even have videos of ice pikmin making the Groovy Long Legs trip when it stomps on them, but I haven't tested this theory myself, so it may not work that way. Oatchi is the best choice if you want to hear the boss's trip theme multiple times because pikmin tend to kill the boss too quickly.
@@the_reptilian_researcher_360 ice pikmin absolutely work! it's hella consistent on the yellow phase, and even works on the red phase. if you want to make the red phase trip, i suggest freezing GLL twice because the first time usually does nothing...
If you are going to try to do consistent damage, Winged Pikmin would be best for the fight, since you can charge them at Groovy Long Legs, and Winged Pikmin can reach his orb because Winged Pikmin fly. Make sure to have some extra as backup in case he shakes them off.
Red pikmin can reach the orb from beneath it. I used spicy spray and reds while directly underneath it atop Oatchi (moving for spray, of course) and the battle was over before it really started
Is “winged pikmin fly” a reference to that completely useless data file from pikmin 3 that I often lump in with other data files like “move with control stick” and “throw crew members with A”?
Groovy long legs is probably one of the most terrifying enemies i’ve ever seen. I’m not sure why. something about the music just makes it so freaky, especially the fact that it’s making the music, not the game.
I think it’s the fact that it can have complete control over your pikmin and basically flaunts it in your face by grooving around and forcing them to dance, that and it’s huge size. If it could talk it’d be like “ooooh, your pikmin are mine now! Whatcha gonna do now idiot? Huh?” It’s enraged state is probably the scariest part though. Trying to frantically save you pikmin from the constant stomping with hectic music makes it an incredibly tense fight
The game encourages you to free the confused pikmin by defeat the enemy as soon as possible, so just keep attacking, it'll trip and free the pikmins. Seems like it could also trip during it's red state too.
@@ritter3723 you need to keep attacking even when it's in red state, people usually avoid attacking because it's risky to do, but you can test it with winged pikmin in the piklopedia, I already tested it, also there's probably a video somewhere showing that.
I think it's kinda neat that Oatchi isn't affected by the pink spray. It might be because Oatchi isn't from this planet, so its biological systems are probably too different from the creatures of this one. The Pikmin are affected because they *are* from the same planet, also the two species have almost certainly interacted.
I wonder how long it’s gonna take before people realise you can rematch a boss in a dungeon if you’ve got 100% in it. It’s literally a tip I got when I was trying to feed Louie, that should really be a more common tip for bosses like this
they should have made it so that the groovy long legs shone different colours like pink, red and dark blue which indicated what colour pikmin you can throw at it. (For example if it shone dark blue you could only throw blue pikmin, but the if it suddenly shone pink they would all fall of.) That would’ve been really cool to see in action.
I wonder if anyone else noticed at about 0:50, the music plays the initial notes of the original Pikmin 1 theme? It's almost like the music itself is telling you "Now's your chance! Go get 'em!"
"Don't worry. Oatchi is not affected by drugs" somehow I have managed to not hear anyone refer to that attack as drugs before so my brain processed this very out-of-context and it was extremely funny
When I saw this animation occur, I absolutely felt like this was a reference to something, like a mic drop feeling. Was there any other occurrence in media where a disco ball crashes down and angles like what this long legs is doing?
I found out you can make groovy long legs trip in red mode you need just need enough ice pikmin to freeze before he gets out of the red state and whne trips in this state he will be in a higher pitch
