I’ve been enjoying your reviews Roro, but you got this one wrong ;). Looking for surprise in Piranesi is a trap. The mystery of Piranesi isn’t akin to a thriller-mystery where we should expect to be shocked & turned around, but a mystery of curious fantastical-scientific intrigue-the journey is discovering the mechanics of this world and Piranesi’s origin within it. In this lens, yes it is ‘obvious’ Piranesi is being played, but that is not the emphasis of what there is to be discovered. Thanks again for the reviews. Keep them coming.
Finished it today, I liked the mysteries of the house, wondering who is the bad guy, guessing what is going on..but as you say since the "plot Twist" which was nearly predictable it really lost huge potential. Also feel like an open end in the house, puzzly like in the first half, would have been better
Hey Matthew! That’s so nice of you to say. Cheers. Your thumbnail looked familiar and I released I’ve watched most of your Booker prize videos! Enjoyed all of them! So the thanks go right back at ya. Look forward to seeing more of your stuff :)
Loved the story personally. I don't think the "how" of Piranesi's world was nearly as important as the "why" and how it shaped the narrator's lens and the commentary it provided on humanity/existence. I thought it was very appropriate that the mechanism was simple and a bit of a throwaway, to not distract from the greater commentary. But no book is made for everyone! Appreciate the perspective
Your channel was recommended to me by the elusive UA-cam algorithm so I've been going through your backlist of videos. I have read Piranesi and I liked it but it wasn't a favourite like Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell which is in my all-time top fantasy works.

Thanks your take on this one. You’re most likely right. My view point wasn’t correctly calibrated to appreciate the novels intentions.
I’m now watching all your videos because I think we have the same taste in books! 😂😂😂 +1 on everything you say on this video!!!
Couldn't agree more with you. It had so much more potentiel 😢
