Ich komme aus den Vereinigten Staaten und habe zwei Jahre in der Schweiz, Österreich und Deutschland verbracht. Der deutsche “r” ist vielleicht die schwierigste Aussprache für Amerikaner zu beherrschen. Diese Aufgabe, die Jenny zusammengestellt hat, ist die Beste für der deutsche “r”, die Ich je zuvor gesehen habe. Gut gemacht! I am from the United States and spent two years in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. The German “r” is perhaps the most difficult pronunciation for Americans to master. This lesson that Jenny put together is the best for the German “r” that I have ever seen before. Well done!
Glad to see your videos Jenny! I'm a korean student who really loves Deutschland. I had no idea to study german pronounciations, but now I meet you! I love you teacher!
As a native speaker of Urdu language, I quickly got the actual pronunciation of the German 'R' lettor. The German 'R' lettor is the same as the Urdu lettor " غ ". I'm from Darbhanga, India.
I just got a job as the only native english speaking teacher at a german school. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm really struggling to learn german and your videos really help!!!!
That was absolutely superb.I never saw any other tutorial teach anything close this. Thank you so much Jenny. I learnt a lot today by watching your video.

Thank you so much, I've been struggling to produce the German "R" for months. After seeing this video, I can pronounce my German "R"s. You're the best German teacher
This is by far the best UA-cam channel to learn German. This is incredible, I'm from Colombia and por Spanish there are a similarities with German, for example the masculine and feminine articles. Thank you so much for this.
Hallo Ms.Jenny! I really appreciate your videos, it's unique and easy to learn for anyone. I feel you should have been more clear on when we should make the gargling sound and when we shouldn't in a word. It would be great if anyone could help me here with the comments. Thanks.
Just curious, are you from Germany? If you are, then your English is perfect and I don't hear any accent. If not, then how did you learn German? Thanks for these videos. I've been trying to learn German for a while and I appreciate you putting in the effort to make them.
I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic or serious but as far as I'm concerned, I can clearly hear a German accent when she talks. That doesn't mean, that her English is bad - on the contrary, it is pretty good - but still, it is clearly audible where she's comming from...
Mindy Cope I'm from Italy, but my native language is German and I'm pretty familiar with the accents of native German speakers. I have a pretty distinguishable accent myself but it is far different than her's since my native language is a High-German dialect and her's seems to be either a Low-German one or Standard-German (which confusingly is sometimes called "High German" as well). Germans that are talking like her are often called "Piefke" (pronounced somewhat like: Peefke), in southern Regions of Germany and in Austria, but that is kind of an insult.
Your comment happened to appear in the best moment ever. I'm learning Arabic and the teacher (Egyptian) told us there's an "R" variation that sounds quite like French's. Now I know it actually sounds like German's. Thank you.
I decided to subscribe your channel too, I think the way you teach more simple and more effective for me than watch easy German channel , it is more complicated ...Danke
*Be careful, in French, "R" is pronounced in two different ways, though close to each other. For example, the "R" in "jurer" does not sound same as the "R" in "pourquoi". And, as Jenny explains, it goes the same for German; the "R" in "Bremen" sounds slightly different from the "R" in "Prima" which sounds like a "CH"! Just a clarification as I notice from comments a good confusion and misinterpretation.*
Jurer et pourquoi, les R dans ces deux mots je les prononce de la même façon, par contre, le R de "contre" et de "travaille" me semble bien différent de celui de jurer
Is there a difference between the pronunciation of the "r" in the unvoiced consonant at 3:30 versus the "r" in the words prior to 3:30? I don't hear much of a difference.

It's a good idea to gurgle water but you make some mistakes. [ʁ] is always pronounced as it is but in some instances there are other possible pronunciations. After voiceless consonants in the beginning of a syllable it might be a voiceless sound very close to but often enough it's just as voiced as in other positions (I usually devoice the after voiceless plosives but even that doesn't happen all the time and there are quite a few dialects of German in which is always pronounced as even in the end of a syllable. The pronunciation as [ɐ] is kind of standard because a lot of people do it but in some instances it might be considered an improper pronunciation
Learn German with Jenny yeah but since there's no standard pronunciation of you can't really teach any standard pronunciation. By saying it's always pronounced voiceless after voiceless consonants in the beginning of a syllable you give a false impression. It's an optional pronunciation which might make it easier to pronounce the consonant cluster for learners. I just wanted to point out this little thing. It really isn't much and the rest of your video is very well made
