Great explanation. This has helped me understand particularly on my topic aspartic acid recemization!

Great video. I had a student use your video as a source today. Usually my wrath flares up with I see a UA-cam link but your well done video makes it hard to hold it against them

Wonderful! I am so pleased these videos are useful. Thanks for such a lovely and encouraging comment, particularly on a day when I've had some really weird pseudo-arch battles haha.
      Cheers.

What a brilliant video! I've seen a couple of your videos now and have subscribed. I'm doing my Master's degree and have found myself in the field, no pun intended, as Archaeology and Anthropology. My chemistry knowledge is a bit basic and your video was very informative!

I'm a chemist so I am completely familiar with the process but I never would have thought to use it to date materials. Brilliant!
I would also think that if you could do this selectively for those amino acids which must be synthesised by the body, then you would get around the problem with carbon dating, where the age of the carbons may be much older than the organism themselves - depending on what food source they have taken on.
    Cool stuff though!!

Absolutely fascinating! This method was mentioned in my class on origin of life theory, but I never understood it until now.
One question: WHY are amino acids in living organism Left-handed and how and why do they switch over after death?
    Thanks! Keep making videos!

@MadameDesu Thanks for your comments. Re: Thermoluminescence... I already have ;) Check out the Aspects of Archaeology playlist on my channel. I shall look into your AAR question and get back to you. Thanks for watching!

Also, as a suggestion, would you do a video on the dating method of thermoluminescence if you are familiar with that process?

Assumptions of the past = useless, it's for those who want to believe lies.

James Parker assumptions of the past my ass, you probably believe in god and the concept of god is one big assumption of the past, so watch your mouth because one day you’ll be gone from the earth, never to be remembered again, and your entire existence will just be one tiny insignificant “assumption of the past”.
