I saw a story where a lady had rescued a parrot when she was living overseas. It was at an open market in a cage ,kids were poking it with a stick. She brought it back to the states when she returned. His wings were clipped so he didn’t fly,she would let him out in an apple tree in her back yard . Crows would come to eat apples and he would talk crow with them. The lady’s housekeeper was Hispanic so he spoke Spanish with her. Some of her friends also spoke a second language. He only spoke the correct language with the correct friend.
Cosmos’s interactions with people and objects is amazing. Her “don’t be afraid “ is heartwarming as she tries to protect her Mom from strangers and their ladders. Lol!
COSMO THE SAFETY PARROT 😅 she was concerned about securing the ladder.. and, I think, about someone peeping into her cage😮. She is a national treasure ❤
This is one of the most sobering and humbling bird interactions I have ever seen. The intelligence and observational skills are fascinating. The mysteries of the living creatures on this Earth are so deep and under-explored. peace to all
Crows are known to be among the smartest animals in the World. They are as smart as chimpanzees. It blew my mind when I heard about that. I agree with you that there's so much more to learn about other living creatures.
I can't believe she made that observation, she has not even had a ladder in her cage for a while now too. So she recognized the ladder and remembered what it is called even though it is much bigger and made of different material 🤯
@@cosmothefunnyparrot Cozzy's absolutely amazing about the man's ladder!! ❤❤ Cozzy's one smart and intelligent gir kmowing all what you've said about her own ladder she'd had and the comparison to his different type of ladder! It's bliwn me away!! ❤❤❤l
She's like a human toddler, not knowing how to deal with those big emotions of those noises so mimics what the adult always does in that moment that she feels helps her: 'its ok dont be afraidch' I would love for someone to properly study the psychology of birds, Cosmo proves they have our emotional intelligence
Actually a lot of studies were made on those birds. They do not understand what they say, nor what we say, but they can analyse our reaction to each sentence and repeat them accordingly. It's almost certain that he do not understand what "ladder" mean, but he understand that this sentence is linked to this activity, and seeing the humans react strongly to it, he insist while trying variations. It's like making random sound to a baby, and suddently he smile, you will deduce the baby like that sound and repeat it with variations.
@@pierrotA She* And you just described how language works. Humans memorise a word associating it with a reaction/object. Exactly what you've just said Cosmo is doing 🙄
@@purplebean8989 No, it's not exactly the same. Imagine that you are on an alien planet and do not know the language and customs, but you notice that most people say "abuabu" when they leave their friends. You will quickly understand that you can say "abuabu" in that situation, but do that mean "good day", " be careful", " see you soon",... ? You do not know. @@3mm3f Thanks for your reply! I actually meant to ask Cosmo's person the towel question but accidentally just kept going with my response your comment. 😂 And you gave me a good enough answer 😁 so THANKS! I still can't get over the vocabulary! I'm a cat lady but always been fascinated by birds and I very much enjoy videos and channels like this. Do you have birds? or other pets? Heck, even cats and dogs, though they can't speak like some birds, can really learn a lot of words and communicate back well in their own way. I've had cats that "talked" a lot and learned a lot of directions, just in human language, no "commands." I'm also someone who always just talks to cats and dogs, without thinking about it, like Hi Fella to a friend's or neighbor's pet. And over time many of them will Meow or Bark "Hi" to me as soon as they see me. 😺😸😹 So sweet!
Cosmo - i think they broke the mold when they made you. What other bird would associate a wooden ladder in a cage with a huge metal ladder outside of the house?
I love how intently she listens! It's so adorable... She really listens to you when you are talking and to the guy outside. I can't believe she knows what ladders are and uses them in the correct context. Smart little lady! I get so excited when I see you've posted a new video (it's almost embarrassing) lol!
She is amazing. The thing is that she has not had a ladder in her cage for quite a while. She chews them up. Anyway, for her to recognize what the worker is on as a similar thing she has had, even though it is bigger and made out of a different material. It is amazing but to remember what that is called is also amazing. She has not even used the word ladder for a long time until she saw the workers ladder🤯
@cosmothefunnyparrot She is truly amazing! Thank you for the insight on the ladder! You guys have such a precious bond and it's so lovely to watch.
