Taking The D200 To The Zoo. A Pleasant Result, Not Surprisingly.

- In this video I talk about taking the Nikon D200 camera to the zoo and using it to photograph some enclosed wildlife, using the Nikon 300mm f4 lens. Wonderful results, for the most part, was the results. The camera did very well, considering I was forced to use ISO 800-1000 because of heavily overcast skies. I also present a slide show showing 25 of my favorite images from the zoo trip.

I just picked up a D200 and D300 hardly used for next to nothing. I recently bought a D700 and love it and it sparked my interest in older DSLRs. Since buying the D700 my D850 has seen little use lol, Looking forward to going out with the D200 at the weekend. Thank you for a great video which shows how capable this camera is. Subscribed.

I like to take photos on Nikon D200 with Nikkor 300mm ai-s, up to 800 ISO photos look very beautiful even without noise reduction

D200 with the 300mm f/4 is what I use to get pictures of larger wildlife. The d200 with tokina 100mm is my macro combo and with the 35mm 1.8g it is my portrait casual family travel combo. I watch your new videos when you post them. I also go to your channel whenever I start looking at spending for a lumix g9 for image stabilizing.

I like your no frills, calm style of presentation.
I’m fairly new to photography, about 18 months and have a Nikon D50 but I’ve just bought a D200.
Haven’t had a chance to play with it yet but I hear good things about it.
Really enjoy the D50 and what it can do.
Great photos you took there. Beautiful animals and there was a certain feeling of sadness to them too; very atmospheric and powerful images.

I like it when you use the D200. I love mine. I mostly use the Nikon 12-24 f/4 AF-S lens with mine. Which 300 f/4 did you use in this video?

The 300mm f/4D is one of my favourite lenses of all time

@@rondayview I traded mine in and bought the 300mm f/4E. For my uses, that was a mistake. If I can find one at the right price, I may invest in another one

Good Day Ron, What Metering mode did you use. Also please tell us if its AFS or AFC mode or single point or Dynamic focus? Thanks
I normally stick to the Matrix metering mode and that's what I used here. To focus I used AFS single point. At the zoo there were always fences, bars, foliage or glass to shoot through making other focus modes difficult to use. With AFS single point I first focused on the subject as well as I could by half pressing the shutter button and holding it ( I don't use back button focus) and then recomposing and shooting.
