Lyrics:
Heard don't move unless you know someone you can move
And I bruise just like anyone would bruise
And I know we've got a long way to go
I know I've got so far
We built this house with our hands, and our time, and our blood
You build this up in one day to fall downward and rust
You built this house with your hands, and your time, and your blood
We built this up in one day to fall downward and rust
I'm gone
You tried to emphasize and side with both your ghosts
In time I swore I'd take the straight and narrow path but still won't
I hold his ear I'm only trying to do my job tonight
Kiss him on top his lips and crucify the fire
I saw this band in 2006 or so at a $5 show at a 100 person dive bar in Columbia, SC. Never heard of them, knew 0 songs. 50 people came. The band brought 7 members and a pipe organ. Absolutely killed it. At 10pm when the noise ordinance came into effect, they refused to leave the stage. Cops came and they wrecked the stage and some instruments and got handcuffed. A couple thousand bucks in damage at a show they made like $200 on. Been a fan since that day and forever. True rockstars.
I use to live in Columbia! The year I moved away they played there. My friends got to see them, unfortunately I did not. They sent me videos, but it'll never be the same.
Sucks because I introduced them to Manchester Orchestra.
Just saw them last night in Columbia. Probably my 7th or so show since 2008. I've seen them play at The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, at Music Midtown, and last night on a small stage for about 1000 people (small for them today). They killed it. May be the hardest they've ever rocked. MO always brings it their all, no matter how big or small the crowd is. True rockers through and through.
I am discovering that few bands have a back catalog this deep and this good.
Frickin awesome.
@@halien5575 They played several shows in Athens after I moved. I had been driving all over to see them for years 😂
This video was created/directed by Ben Disinger, a film student at RIT, for an experimental film class. When he showed it to the band they liked it so much they made it the official music video. This why its so different (and frankly better) than most music videos we've become accustomed to.
Nick DIaz vs Carlos Condit Primetime.. Damn! time flies
Real talk man! Crazy af
"I think you're beautiful."
Frowns loudly
Well fuck you, dude
Chris Howlter WHY????
Chris Howlter NO GIT OUT
don't you dare
My best friend goes to RIT with this Kid. Apparently this was a project for school and he saw Manchester Orchestra in concert, talked to them about his video, they watched it and called their manager and now he has the official music video for this song. It's amazing the places you'll end up. Congrats Ben Disinger. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Manchester Orchestra is one of the best bands of our time. Their music deep, sincere and powerful.
I can't believe I'm hearing this band for the first time today. I accidentally came across The Silence, and I loved it. So I listened to more, and it is all so good. I wish I found it sooner.
Oh, yeah, well welcome to the rabbit hole. They're awesome and there's no escaping now!
Same
Same
I first listened to Bed Head.
I'm on my 3rd record of theirs now
If you ever get the chance to see them in concert, don't turn it down! They're even better live than on the recordings.
I've only just discovered this band. And I am completely blown away. This song is just too good
The ending to this album from this track onward specifically Is what really blows me out of the water--Very spaced out.
I actually them, with the exception of this song at this Elliot In The Morning Holiday Bash In Fairfax, VA last December and they were soooooo good man--highly recommend that you make It out to see them whenever you get the chance to.
also I've same thoughts
Hahahahaha
I just now discovered them 6 years later.
Why nobody is talking about the freaking masterpiece of video that we have here, so much art an meaning
Agreed Simple math video as well. Unbelievably amazing video
You are replying 8 years after it came out, and I’m out here commenting 5 years post covid. Strong message.
Underated band
Preach
I wish some super rich guy pay them a fortune but keep them like this.
Why does someone always say it in every song on UA-cam?
@@thiagosarraf7265 To be honest this band is truly underrated. I have only heard them and about them today.
How is Manchester Orchestra "underrated"? 🙄🤔

Song predicted the future theme song of 2021 into 2022
This song is so special... I don't know why but it frightens my soul... It's just so strange... I can't describe better the sensation that I have when I listen to this song.
I know how you feel. I still love it though
This song only gets more and more relevant as the years go on.
Nuclear holocaust?
Gas masks, fire, crosses, all that.
Gives me chills.
Such a good song.
The reality of 2020
"He promised to fix him, he kept that promise"

+Spirtual Anarchist well I'm from USA so idk Bc so are my friends and they didn't go to Europe
Wow...❤️👌 Virtually unheard of in the UK. Lyrically brilliant, great musical continuity, real musical depth, awesome production, and yes, REAL musicians playing Real instruments. Fantastic.
aug 2011: wow this video seems so creepy
march 2020: wow this vid seems so reasonable
Yeah
Omg I always had the vibe this song was about our country.......2020 I'm crying watching this
OK, well thanks for that horrifying realization.
And today.even more so
This is a memorable comment.
MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA brought me here. I'm all hyped now.
Good grief. My stellar music taste brought me here.
ASOTM bringing the feels everyday
Phanic! At The Fall Out Romance yeah. I did
All The Trash DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED
NO
Emo Gee yes
haha me too
Being precisely the message of the song, it is no surprise that the majority here do not realize the absolute, thematic profundity traversing a medium of words and guitars. This is truly a diamond in the rough.
Still listening in 2021. No it doesn't feel the same.
Filmed in my hometown of Rochester NY. Fitting that a song about perversion of liberty is filmed in one of the least free states in the nation.
"The boy with sad eyes and tragically kissed lips"

Rachel Caine brought me here! She wrote this song down in a track list of songs that inspired her when she wrote Morganville Vampires. This is just the best of them all!
I first heard this on a A Splitting Pf The Mind trailer video and every time I hear this song it gives me chills.

If more people knew about this video they'd consider it as prophetic as the simpsons. Good lord did they hit the nail on the head with this one.
if at first your not successful, fight, keep fighting until you get what you want...thats life.
*whispers* a splitting of the mind ;-;

The only reason I know this song is thanks to a ASOTM trailer video.

that's how I found this awesome song
god what i would give to get a time machine to 2012, but with my current knowledge and emotional maturity hahaha.

Liebe Dich critical review... the doc was slow and boring. didn't have much more to say than a few paragraphs of a news article. the apex of a thrill came when they pumped the above a jam in the beginning.

I just saw them live for the first time at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta and everyone knew all the words to every song, I'm glad I could sing along to this song at least. I'm blessed to be introduced to such a passionate band with such a passionate fan base. Peace yall.
Oh yeah. They're from Atlanta so whether it's the full band or just Andy Hull & a side project , they are popular. Before Brand New was blacklisted , I was at the lead singer's birthday show in Atlanta and I had a feeling but was still surprised when Andy came out to sing to him . Every went crazy . It's been a year since you're comment. I'm sure you could sing along to quite a bit lol.
Gives me a Pink Floyd vibe and I dig it
MunchieMadness420 the another brick in the wall vibe? it's strong in this one; with the kids' chorusing and the lyrics and the theme

"more so than anything I'm low on patience with anything that takes patience" -Nick Diaz
This was originally a film called Liberty with Virgin playing in the bacground. Ben (the director) asked the band permission to use the song for his project, and they asked if they could make this the officil video.
This has been taken to fil festivals since it technically still a short form film, and t's called Liberty in those settings.
Source: I'm the director's best friend
Firebreather01 this video is extremely relevant in the year 2020
But do you breath fire tho
I heard this song after watching "the survival of Nick Diaz", it comes on towards the end. I liked how this song sounds, so I thought I'd look it up.
I am kinda blown away. This video is full of so much symbolism. The beautiful woman ends up looking beat up as the video plays. Do you see what she is wearing??? They built us up to fall down and rust? We can see.
Look at all of the things that are being used against us in the video.
My teenage ass was boppin to this but looking back today she never understood just how deep this shit would go

One of the greatest bands out right now. Andy Hull is a song writing machine
its not the world that is terrible.its the people who make it so.all devided by one simple thing
Genius. Goes right to my heart. I am starting to be captivated by this group.
You are the band that fills my chest with this overwhelming urge to scream in happiness and belonging. Your music is so breathtaking and I can’t express how incredible it makes me feel.
Dude how do you like the new album?
@@robofish312 I think the story line for all the songs is incredible and each song can be listened to on it’s own but they all have that same overlapping herd of emotions coming at you. How about you? Do you like the album? I’m going to one of their concerts in 2022 so that should be pretty awesome.
