i love to see a black l&d rn.. im a pre-nursing student and i know i want to go in l&d or obygn/women's health. eventually im going to become a midwife
Yesss! I’m in school to become a MA and I want to work at a OBGYN clinic first. Will go back to school to get my BSN and work as a L&D nurse before going for midwifery
Yes! During one of my clinical rotations the nurse said, “this is the emergency room for laboring moms” and boy she wasn’t lying 😩 I was so tired after that rotation, but loved it haha.
I delivered both babies at the hospital where Nurse Julie works and they are amazing. Julie helped me in my 2nd recovery and she's nurturing and patient! If you have her presence, you are truly blessed. Xo
L&D nurse for 2 years and thank you for this accurate description of the Labor & Delivery unit! I would only add we sometimes have to do NRP on the babies before NICU shows up.
Super informative! I recently found my passion during my L&D rotation, and I am excited to start applying for residency programs in a few months! Thank you for all of your insight :)
So, I’m basically a senior in college and I was getting my degree in sociology. i wanted to go into the liberal arts field likely working in academia. I got pregnant and just had my first baby and i had a natura unmedicated birth. I fell in love with the process of physiological birth and just birth in general. I have my baby now and i want to transfer out of my university (don’t even offer nursing there) and i’m going to community college. it feels like a “step back” but i want to support women through their labors no matter what route they take unmedicated, medicated, c-section whatever it be i think it’s best to have someone that supports you on your side. i had such a good experience with my l&d nurse and i think i can do it myself! i eventually want to become a midwife so i can help women bring their beautiful babies into this world !
Thank you for this video! I really enjoyed it. I’m a second semester nursing student, I’ve got about 9 months until I take NCLEX. Going through nursing school during COVID, I feel like we get a lot less interaction and experiences with things and “real life” nursing so it was great to get this perspective! 😊
My L&D nurses I loved so much!!! They were always going and coming and nursing moms during the most important time of their life, motherhood! I wanted to cry when I had to leave. Thank you for serving moms everywhere. Whether it’s a mom who lost a baby, or get to take their baby home. 🙏🏽
I’ve been an ICU nurse for 5 years and recently switched to L and D. I’m about a week into my orientation process so far and loving it but know I have SO much to learn! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Loved your video!
This video was very helpful. I’m currently looking to change study programs. I’m currently a 23yr old second year pharmacy student looking to take on a separate route. Maternal treatment during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum of Black women specifically has always been a strong interest of mine, which is why I’m so happy I found your page! I’m currently taking this month to gather all my research so I can start the nursing program in the fall and this video was extremely insightful so thank you!
honestly how couragous of you, I was on a dentistry route and thinking switching to nursing to become a WHNP.. I was so scared of the switch, im praying its worth it!
Super informative! I want to be a L&D nurse and watching other people’s experience working as a L&D nurse helps me to decide if I do or don’t want to be one so far I’m leaning toward ( Yes ) ty for the great information ❤️😀
I’ve been struggling with this..thank you for this video.. you helped me remember what I was doing this for..I’ve been going back and forth about NICU and L&D…I work as an advanced nurse extern in NICU…but I also use to work on LD that was all in one with postpartum..and I haven’t shaken my love for it and grad is approaching and I had no idea which way I was going..so I appreciate this!!
Love the ambiance of your living room. Appreciate your insight on how it's like. CNA going to work in the hospital soon and used to be a labor doula. Looking to go back in the fall for nursing. Thank you.
I have been a L&D and PP nurse for 20 years and I am now switching to a clinic to be a pain management nurse! I have special and horrific memories I will take with me!
Where I am from, it is easier to get a L&D job as a new grad. Nurse for 9 years here. Mainly ICU. I have been trying to get L&D for the past 5 years. Never. Ever. Happened. I didn’t have enough “experience”. Finally, FINALLY after all this time, I got an L&D job. I am petrified. I’m preparing for the worst. Lol. I’m not afraid of hard work. I have had 4-5 patients (total care 3 on vents, post op day 3 heart, and one step down patient) on one assignment in an ICU. I got the 3rd vent (it was an “obs” patient) who was intubated when he got to the unit. I have had 9 med surge patients (8 was the norm) on another assignment. But, I have never worked just with women and babies. My hospital I will be working at is a small hospital. No residents, no techs. And I’m excited about it. But still petrified! 😂
Just came across this video! Thank you for this explanation! 💓 I start my L&D RN residency in 3 months and I’m super excited, but also know it’s going to be a lot. 😅
Best informative L&D nurse video I have watched. I graduate in about one month and I currently am on L&D internship with my school. Thank you so much for putting your views into perspective, it is exactly what I needed to hear! ❤️
10:06 - 10:10 = the moment you've all been waiting for...the x-rated pantomime version of a humungous stretched-out baby canal. Someone went all the way in with the speculum and forceps. Tightening laser surgery will no doubt be required.
This is so great - thank you. Definitely would love to see more videos about being a new nurse in L&D. You’re fun to listen to....no poop scented candles. 😂
I want to be a labor and delivery nurse. I am 20 about to be 21 years old, but I haven’t attended college yet because I just realized that being a labor and delivery nurse is what I truly want to do. So for me, what do I have to do to get started. And what classes do I have to exactly take to become one?
It will take you 2-4 Years to become a Nurse depending on what degree you’re going for. Nursing schools will have you take an entrance exam than pre reqs before you actually start the nursing school. I’m 20 also and I’m starting school in September for my Associates degree in nursing.
The classes you have to take mainly depends on what nursing school you go to. You would have to talk to your school advisor about that and they should help you. Also make sure the nursing school you decide to attend is accredited. Hopes this helps 😊
Wow. I don’t think that anything nursing is for me… 😢 I’m already an OR nurse… my job is cool but the tiredness and toxicity is not worth it… it’s sad 😢
Initially, it was Bio Sciences/ Pre Nursing... then I decided to stay and graduate, so I switched to Kinesiology after I finished all of my prerequisites for Nursing School!

Same!
That's my plan as well I also want my CBS!!
same here!! Wishing you all a great journey!

Super informative! Would love to hear more about your experiences as a L&D nurse!
I definitely plan on making more content about it! Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you for this! I just got offered a job in med surg or L and D, and watching your video had helped me decide I want to go into L and D!
L&D nurse for 2 years and thank you for this accurate description of the Labor & Delivery unit! I would only add we sometimes have to do NRP on the babies before NICU shows up.
leaving the psych ER to start L &D IN 3 WEEKS .. I KNOW about unpredictable lol.... I am nervous nevertheless... God got me .. Thanks for the video!
Whew!!! What a change! But you've got this! I bet you already know how to manage stress well! And you're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
wow interesting I am stuck between psych nursing and L&D which I am both so passionate about!
Was it hard to switch because u weren’t using clincials skills
This was a great breakdown of everything

Your *disclaimers* are life 😂 nursing is a hell of a job! No matter WHAT unit
Granddaughter is completing 1st year as a L&D nurse in Houston. She loves her job. I am just worried that she takes the job home.
I have been a L&D and PP nurse for 20 years and I am now switching to a clinic to be a pain management nurse! I have special and horrific memories I will take with me!
Why did u switch
Take comfort in the Lord, he will give you strength, joy, peace, and rest truly🤍🙏🏽
Torn between l&d and peds😩
I’m currently in nursing school with 7 months left, and thanks to COVID I will not get to do clinicals in peds or L&D.
That's so unfortunate!! Dang! Those were my two favorite rotations! But congrats!! You're so close to finishing! Finish strong!

Triage, trauma, OR, PACU, and psych nursing all at once.

@@juliedavette3140 wow!! That just goes to show that sometimes you don’t need all the fancy equipment. Thanks for responding!
I’m a senior in highschool and I’m trying to see what the fuck I’d be getting into for being an L&D. So thank you for this video girl!! 😼
Is that exhausting even if you’re night shift? 7p-7a?
Yes it is
New to the Channel I enjoy your videos 🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

Beautiful 😍 where did you get that sweater? I NEED!!!
If i did LPN program then wanted to do labor & delivery could that work?
I can only imagine working with some high strung expectant mothers and/or fathers can be pretty stressful.
how many years did you do in college? (im asking cause i want to be a l&d nurse when i get older)
Can we get a tutorial on this fineapple😍
Wow. I don’t think that anything nursing is for me… 😢 I’m already an OR nurse… my job is cool but the tiredness and toxicity is not worth it… it’s sad 😢
Do you work a set amount of days per week? If so how many?
I laughed so hard when you mentioned the bath, that’s too funny!
Girl! it was so awkward... I would've gone into detail, but I was like nahhhh.... lol!
@@juliedavette3140 😂😂😂 thank you for sparing us! Lol
What was your initial major when you first got to college?

Are your patients on cardiac monitors like ICU
No, they aren’t!
I start my l&d residency Monday 😬😬😬😬😬
Good blessings to youuu!! Praying for that next summer after graduation!
Yayyy!!! Sooooooo.... How are things going so far?!!!
You've got this!!!
Can you work on a L&D nurse with an associate degree ?
Yes!
😁
Which one has less blood lol
As An L&D nurse myself, NICU has less blood. L&D is a blood bath.
