Wow! When I first heard Sabicas play this piece , I knew I had to attempt to play flamenco. You certainly do it justice; seemingly channelling the maestro himself. Well done!
Dein Tremolo hört sich fantastisch an. Ich würde gern mehr solches Musik von dir hören, besonders etwas so dynamisch wie dies lied oder auch im generell was mit arabischer inspiration. Liebe Grüße aus Peru 🇵🇪
John, well done. And from reading through the comments I can tell you're a good person. I've been trying to figure this piece out from the sabicas video. Seeing the tuning that you're using would explain why I couldn't get it to sound quite right. This piece is way out of my depth but all the music I want to play is. What am I to do? I'm glad to have your video to reference now. I'm going to keep trying but when I break down, I will contact you for your tab. $10 is well worth it.
hello john! i secceded to play 40% from the piece (this is little bit high level for me. i can play simple pieces like asturias/prelude in d minor bach/ romance..)anyway i wanted to ask if you have some technique how to play the basses an the other strings together like in the part 1:47 thank you very much
Works exactly like Asturias, p-i-p-m...., if you watch it slowly you can see where I use legato here and there, but otherwise it's pretty straight forward. For me it took quite a bit of practise with the metronome to get the right and left hands synchronized!
@@johnopheim3751 thanks a lot! i understand that i need to practice very slowly to synchronized my left and right hands... but in asturias its much more easy becouse you play all the time with the same bass . but here you use 6'5'4 strings together with the bottum strings and left hand.... comfusing... just practice and practise .thanks again
@@snoopdogg7366 have you seen the original? I learned this watching the video of Sabicas very closely and he does use a lot of untypical techniques. He plays this piece mostly tirando, no other way to do it if you want to keep the open sound and not dampen strings, like a lot of pieces in the free palos, rondeña etc. No rasgueado, no alzapúa, besides arm position, thumb rest here and there and the quintuple tremolo this piece doesn't really call for the typical flamenco technique. The thumbwork at the beginning and the tremolo are quite flamenco, I guess. I usually do play flamenco technique, this piece is different. If I've misunderstood something maybe you could make a video of you playing it and show me.
John has a link to his tablature for this piece in the video description above, but the tuning indicated on the tab is incorrect. It is a simple dropped D tuning (DADGBE) that is then Capo'ed at the second fret. The piece is very accessible to intermediate players of classical and flamenco guitar. The settings on the video allow you to change the playback speed (without changing the pitch!) down to .75 or even .5 of normal speed. This can be very helpful while learning a new piece of music. Good luck!
john. you play it perfect... realy almost like sabicas himself how did you tuned youre guitare? i sow the paco on 2 but i didnt succeed to understand the tune
@@JohnOpheim thanks a lot' . i dont have paypal' . but i toke youre good advice . i put youre video on 0.25. and try to play it. it will take time... but its worth it!
without the capo D# A# D# G# C F, then capo on 2. You don't have to go up half a step, I play it live without tuning up because it's too stressy. The extra tension is nice, though.
Wolfgang Suttner is a local luthier here in my area of Germany. It's an amazing guitar. Word has it this one almost went to Gerardo Núñez to play in his Encuentro video. Glad I got it instead, I got it for only half the price of the Marvi that he does play.

@@lucasverberne1300 hi! Yeah, kind of complicated here. Everything is up a half step, then it's drop D tuning (or better said D#), then the capo is on 2 - then you get the tuning as written.
