Heyyyy Chinese food lovers! So, I did it.. finally filmed a Chinese food challenge but as much as I LOVE most Asian cuisines, westernised Chinese takeaway doesn’t do it for me! I want to have another go so please let me know what I need to order if we go again! Xx
My go to chinese dish back at uni was chicken curry with singapore fried rice :-)
Hot n sour soup. Chips special curry for some ideas
Chicken feet, dim sum, Singapore fried noodles. Pigeon, duck, curry beef with tendon, seafood noodles, chicken and jellyfish, ma po to fu
Love egg fried rice. Duck with pancakes chicken balls prawn cocktail any prawn dish
Think the key is that you identify that, that is “westernised”, a Chinese food from a proper China town restaurant would be much different
With Chinese food, it isn't just what you order, it is where you order it from. You might need to go to 4 or 5 star Chinese restaurant so that you can know what it is supposed to taste like. Then do takeout, which takes multiple tries in order to find a Chinese spot you like.
Spot on
I agree, moving forward if we do this again I’ll have to have a look for a much better place!
Very true. I had a favourite chinese takeaway I used to go to. Food was very tasty. The owners wanted to return to China and they sold the place. New owners kept the same menu as before but the food became so horrible. Had somebody tried chinese food for the first time when the new owners took over, they would never have liked chinese food for the rest of their life. The Shuts must have ordered from bad places before for her not to like chinese food.
Weird thing with Chinese food is it is really filling at the time but you're hungry half an hour later.
The red sauce is probably sweet and sour sauce.
Imagine the happiness in a restaurant owners eye when they hear, “This is Leah I would like to place a carry out order.”
“Can I please have one of everything..”
*buys yacht and second home
@@jameselliott1933 ?
Now imagine the look on the delivery drivers face! I hope she tips well XD
Can you imagine the 'horror' of the restaurant owner when someone says, "Leah is here for the Wednesday all-you-can-eat buffet".
Leah, what you do is genuinely incredible. Enjoy watching. Just wish i could eat that much because it looks sooo good. Thanks and look forward to the next one!!!!
The unidentified red sauce is sweet and sour sauce for dipping or pouring on the deep fried wontons and anything you want to put it on. Chow mein with crispy noodles, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour boneless pork, deep fried tofu with eggplant and sauce, spicy pepper cod, green beans with shredded spicy pork, wonton soup,
In Canada this isn’t a challenge. It’s a regular Wednesday night meal for one 😂
So freaking true 😂🇨🇦
@Jack Ryan most Canadians? As a Canadian who’s travelled most of Canada I can assure you most Canadians aren’t over weight also Canada’s 26th on the obesity list. But okay tell me about MY country 😉
@@NotYourVampiree preach!!!!
today is Wednesday u know what that means
@@NotYourVampiree YOUR country, you mean really YOURS like you would own it?🤣🤣🤣 tell me more
I agree. It really does depend on the provider!
Chinese is my favourite takeaway. Crispy chilli chicken and noodles with onions and bean sprouts = happy me. 😊
I would order - Wanton Soup, Veg Fried Rice, Lemon Chicken, Honey Garlic Chicken, Ginger Beef, Pan Fried Shrimp, Beef and Broccoli, Mixed Vegetables, spring rolls/egg rolls, Chop Soy, and Chew Main
And you have to mix it all together so you taste the veggies, meat and rice all in one bite!
Plum sauce for the egg rolls, and Soy sauce for all the rice and veggies!
You'd be far better with: Crispy Duck with Pancakes, Egg Fried Rice, Beef in Oyster Sauce and Chicken with Ginger and Spring Onion and Chicken and Cashew Nuts in Yellowbean Sauce, Beef in Blackbean Sauce and Chicken Satay for a spicy starter.
You're talking my language.
What about BAT? Only the trusted regulars get offered that!! You would be blind not to notice LOL
You have exquisite taste
The one place in my area is so amazing, and the hostess remembers faces and is so kind :)
Why??
Mad respect for powering through and finishing. That looked really painful.
You should be very proud of yourself because you went out your comfort zone & you did an amazing job. God Bless you & keep on doing an amazing job.
Mad props and respect for you. To not be a fan of Chinese's food and saying so, yet ate it, while not disrespecting it. It takes a classy person to do that. I'm not a huge fan, but like this food.
Fabulous Chinese challenge leah ! My go to is chicken foo yung it's omelette basically with onions and bean sprouts I luv it 😁 you did yourself proud ! You got it down , very well done to you ❤
Duck with wraps, hoisin sauce and cucumber! Thin vegetable noodles 😍😍 I rate you soooo much for eating it even though your not the biggest fan of it!! Well done!
Ooh yeah, you've gotta have crispy duck in pancakes 🤤🤤🤤🤤
This came up on my feed. I didn't realize how long you've been doing this. Love the pigtails. You've come a long way mate.
You did an amazing job even though you struggled so much. Well done Leah 💕xx
You did amazing, you smashed all of it and it defo wasn't an easy one for you, a massive well done ❤️
Im not a fan of UK Chinese takeway food but its another ball park when you try fresh homemade Chinese !! Love the video Leah!!
Well American or UK Chinese food (take aways) Are not authentic, a lot of dishes you see on a UK or American Chinese menu is western inspired, it's like chow main was invented in America by Chinese immigrants
depends on who made it
the restaurant here in Holland where I always go
is run by 3rd generation Chinese
nice, Chinese takeaways in the UK seem to taste the same lol Would love to try Chinese food in Holland haha @@mvdh877
I absolutely love Chinese food...That looks soooooo great! I usually get shrimp fried rice, pork egg rolls, orange chicken, and grilled veggies. yummy😋😋😀
Me and me Dad used to share: House special curry, a portion of noodles, fried rice and a portion of chips with a bag of prawn crackers ... not exactly authentic, but lovely comfort food..
I just had Chinese food last night. Beef Lo Mein is one of my favorites along with a couple egg rolls, plus mustard and duck sauce.
I never seen anyone eat that amount of Chinese ever.. That was a huge order,, it's so filling,, You did an incredible job to even finish.. Amazing ..
This is Wednesday night in our house
@@StuWebRT lol,, Weds heaven,, I'm on my way ;)
Well done Leah I love the fact you are completely honest about your opinion of things in your video.
I would think that rice would be the worst thing to have in a food challenge because it is so filling.
I am not a Chinese expert and I know it is a required taste I love spring rolls that is just me though
I'm originally from Scotland, live in California and occasionally order Chinese with my Son who loves it. Typically I keep it basic, chow mein, beef & broccoli, orange chicken, spring rolls/egg rolls, ahirmp/prawns. Well done on working through the pain and finishing.
I love your food challenges Leah! And admire you branching out! Next time go for the real stuff. Dim Sum would be a great introduction to what Chinese food is all about! Much love. 💗
Shrimp lo mein, beef & broccoli, orange chicken, shrimp fried rice, shrimp egg rolls (with duck sauce packets), fried chicken (with duck sauce packets) . Everything I’ve named is my go to’s . You cannot go wrong because the stuff you ordered , i’ve never heard of before. For dessert , definitely go for sugar donuts. I don’t order anything else but these things lol hopefully this list helps! 😊
always so graceful
Sweet and sour sauce u had first (they go with the chicken balls) , and omg Chinese is my fav!!!! 😋😋😋 love you as always 🌸🌸🌸
Girl you need curry sauce not that red muck, it makes such a difference 😂😂
Yessss! Another curry sauce fan! Or bbq 😆💕 x
That red sauce is the one.......unless its with noodles then curry sauce is the only choice
Ur all so basic lol
@@fozandharley especially you
@@RustyPeng if by basic you mean absolutely spot on correct then I agree
Chinese food is amazing and the red sauce is typically delicious. You did good.
Egg foo young is a delicious chinese omelet. It comes with any meat or veggie. Served on white rice and a brown gravy. Sesame chicken is a sweet chicken dish. Steamed dumplings are always wonderful. Eggrolls are good. But spring rolls have a stronger ginger flavor. Curry chicken or garlic chicken good too.
I dont think I have ever seen you not enjoying your challenge. You did great, drink lots of water. Love ya
Such a tiny beautiful young lady... You would never expect she can eat enough to feed a small army.
Tiny?
@@SincertyPatrick Petite... would have been a better word to use.
i believe she's 5'8
Yeah. She ain’t tiny. Built like a brick shit house!
She ain't tiny. Not that it matters
The upside is you won't have to worry about too much discomfort. You'll just be hungry again in an hour.
Great work Leah. Think I'm going to copy this idea for my challenge. Bloody love Chinese!!!!
love the hair !!!😍😍
Being from NYC, Chinese takeout is a must 😂😂. At least once or twice a week I'm ordering Chinese.
Love the hair style in this challenge! Keep smashin' it, 'Shuts'! :)
Ahh thank you!
omg i love chinese take away ive been looking for a video like this for ages !
Definitely have to be in the right mood for Chinese food. I don't get it often, but my usual go to order is 2 x portions of battered spare ribs, a portion of sweet and sour battered pork balls, a portion of sweet and sour battered chicken balls and (Yes, this is sacrilegious) a portion of chips. No prawn crackers as I'm allergic to fish.
Chinese is my favourite takeaway! 😋 Sweet and sour prawn balls special fried rice and chow mein
I wish I agreed 🙈🥺 I need to try again!
@@LeahShutkever yea definitely try other dishes 🙂
The style of Chinese food makes a huge difference, you apparently got the no veggies type. Your hairs really cute today.
"Your hairs really cute today!!" 😳😳😂
@@noelc2532 WTF WTF didn't you see her hair today cute AF
Omg, I was thinking how cute her hair was too.
@@keiras1694 right! Thank you.
That looks so good Leah
Very well done Shuts I am really proud of you for trying all of that.My favourite is sweet and sour ina sauce with veg and pineapple, it not as heavy as balls. My favourite side dish is chow mein.
Hey Leah, I don’t feel like you had a good representation of the Chinese dishes to sample. While you ordered a lot, everything was fried, and I find that it’s better when you take a little from each category. Let me show you what I mean, and if you don’t like it I completely understand and that’s okay too! I just wanted to help you out for if you wanted to give it another try. Try picking something from each category usually I get a Soup, Protein, Noodles, and Vegetables. Starting with the Soups (my favorite is Hot and Sour or Wonton if you don’t want something spicy at all), Appetizers (dumplings, spring rolls, egg rolls, fried wontons, crab rangoon, edamame, lettuce wraps) Next, you can choose Chicken, Beef, Pork, or Seafood for a protein and some dishes may be similar except the use of protein ( like there is sweet&sour pork and sweet&sour chicken) (some favorites are Sesame Chicken, Beef& Broccoli, Garlic Chicken, Sweet&Sour Pork/Chicken, Orange Chicken or General Tso Chicken, Mongolian Beef), and last some Noodle dishes and Vegetables (Lo Mein, Drunken Noodles, Sesame Noodles, Asian Garlic Noodles, Mu Shu Vegetables, Sichuan Vegetarian Stir Fry).
I hope this helps you, Leah if you decide to try Chinese food again. No pressure, girl! I love watching your videos and am glad if I can help in any way. I hope one day you decide to come to Texas! I’d love to come out and support you during a challenge 🍽!! 💜 ❤️
You’re amazing, thank youuu so Much for the info, seems like you really know your stuff!! Xx
Great comment. As a massive chinese food lover I would never combine the dishes she did. She picked the greasiest and heaviest of the bunch and while I'd definitely pick all of those I'd never have it together. You need vegetable dishes to break it all up.
I think she should give it another go and then take a good look at the combination you're suggesting. I think she'll realize there's much more to Chinese cuisine than frying oil and sugar
@@LitzysDelight totally agree with you, may have to revisit this with a better choice of dishes!
@@LeahShutkever Girl, I love Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean foods a lot. I got you!! I understand completely if you don’t like it though, everyone has things that they like and just some they don’t. I just thought I’d give you my two cents if you decided to try it again. I’ll support you whether you like it or not! You are amazing! Keep up all the awesome work! #TeamShutkever XXX 💜
@@LitzysDelight Well Thank you very much! I absolutely agree with you. I’m sure she asked people what their favorite thing was and a lot of people answered back that their favorite was a fried food, so she ordered multiple fried foods because that’s what people said were their favorite. So, when she sat down to eat the majority of it was fried food and I think she did have one noodle entree. I don’t think it was her fault at all, she just had probably not had Chinese food before because she didn’t really like it. I agree the vegetables help break everything up. I just love Chinese food!
It is so sad to see you not happy with something that you usually love to do. Hope you find your next challenge to be more enjoyable Leah.
Love your videos! Have a great rest of the day!
Order Indian next time. Not a big fan of Chinese either xx
Sweet and sour sauce is bomb, I love it on pork, fried salt and pepper fish and especially fresh prawn toast, but good honey chicken with rice is always my go to
Egg fried rice, salt & pepper chips, soft noodles (no vegetables) & curry sauce! Can’t go wrong😍
Considering that you're not a fan .. you did amazing 👏 and you've got my favourite Chinese dessert .. pineapple fritters love them 😍 😋
Haha I couldn’t be miserable AND fail.. that would be awful!
@@LeahShutkever by doing the challenge in the first place makes you a winner regardless 🤗
Oh, I love these foods but I get so much Washing up the Kitchen Sink is always stacked up!
Lol!
What are you eating????? That red dish. Hmmmm. I love lettuce wraps with peanut sauce...my fave. I absolutely love Chinese food. Pork fried rice. Orange chicken. General Tsos. Sweet and sour soup. Crab wontons a must!!!!!!! Poo poo platter...yes the ribs are tough but a good flavor. They have several items on there that are so very delish!!! Great job Leah!! Love you girl!
the crunch on that prawn toast, oh my, its got me salivating lol
Love Chinese food but I think you should watch some Mickey Chen and his Strictly Dumpling videos to get an idea of the variety available. He really loves his soups and noodles, bbq and all things Asian. He's big on Korean as well if you ever go for that.
I love the pigtails.
I could really tell you didn't enjoy that challenge but kudos to you for pushing through. I really enjoy watching your videos.😀
Love the pigtails!! 💯🔥❤️
I love Chinese food but I'm always hungry for more an hour later! 👍
yes, I like it, like I like, cold pizza...😁👍
That's what carbs do: insulin spikes and dips. If you give in, you will have eaten twice. But it's so good ...
Chinese foods is amazing when it’s done right, unfortunately what you ate would be hard to call Chinese food .
Looks like what you get from a Chinese takeaway to me, so how can it not be Chinese?
Looks like Chinese food to me
If it comes from a Chinese takeaway it’s a Chinese simple as that
Exactly it's food catered to western palettes. It's based on Chinese recipes but it's just like the fortune cookie, a western invention. Just like most of you including Leah's ancestors immigrated west and created products and cuisine. Can't help but think the bias against western "Chinese" food stems from underlying xenophobia. Honestly I could say so much against English food especially English sausage and black pudding but then again I'm not going to do that.
@@lukefleming0607late respone but this is westernised chinese not legitimate
Beef and broccoli, chicken on a stick, noodles, and egg rolls.
Perfect manners as always.You ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And then two hours later you’re hungry again 😂😂😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
GLUTTONY
There is starving children
I can't explain it but I love this woman 🥰🥰😍😋
🙏🏾☺️
yeah Leah and katina eats kilos are the best
I'm with you on Chinese food.
I have to be in just the right mood to even consume Chinese food.
I find it very filling and struggle to eat it all more often than not
Chinese food is one of my favorites I usually get cho mein or lo mein, orange chicken, beef broccoli, vegetable chicken, honey bbq wings, bbq pork, wonton soups and fried rice with veggies. I don’t really get a lot of to fried options cause they’re not my favorite so those I get and oh man I devour them so good 🤤
It is so funny you can see from the outset that you don't want to eat it. 😂
🙈🙈🙈🙈 is it that obvious
I always say the thumbs down are the jealous people! 😂 great job Leah! 🥟🍱🍤
I never eat breaded and fried Chinese food. Most of the things you ate I would never order. You did a good job and made it through. Thanks for another great video.
Well done. I love Chinese. My favourite food. Your order is perfect. However the key is the quality of the food. Not fishing where you got it from but sometimes it is where you get it from that makes or breaks a Chinese. The crispy shredded beef is my ultimate favourite however not chewy like the one you just ate. I felt for you. You did amazing. I bet you needed a gallon of water after and later that day xx
I think you should do an Indian takeaway challenge.
I have, take a look!
@@LeahShutkever what about a kebab challenge?
@@schiaffino29 She already has. Take a look!
MSG... Which obviously means My Star Girl!! (Loving the video again).
But it's the Monosodium glutamate that makes that cuisine so hard to eat fast and a lot of at one sitting. Carbo loaded too! 😋
Yep...5 minutes in my head starts aching! I always have my Chinese with a side of Tylenol! Lol
Heart palpatations after msg totally avoid now
steamed fish (garupa or flounder) in ginger & scallions, Peking duck, dimsum (pork & shrimp siomai, pork bbq bun, shrimp dumplings, etc), Hainanese chicken rice, wonton soup, seasoned steamed eggplant, hot pot.
The Shuts version of food hell on Saturday Morning Kitchen. Great vid xx
Does anyone automatically start sings Radioactive by imagine dragons when they hear the word Radioactive????
For someone who doesn't eat chinese I admire your chopstick skills.
Ahh thank you, I do like other Asian cuisines
Honey chicken and sweet and sour fish. I also love curry sauce with peas and onions on top of rice and chips yumm
Lemon chicken is nice, duck pancake with cucumber spring onion and hoisin sauce, something in plum sauce is nice I normally go with chicken, fried pork dumplings r good too x
What an amazing achievement. I am with you next t a big g fan of Chinese at all. Well done!
Some great suggestions that I always enjoy would be: duck chow mein (thin noodles if possible), salt and chilli chips and chicken satay skewers.
Beef broccoli, sweet potato balls, almond cookies, chow main, orange chicken, sweet and sour pork, crab wontons, dumplings, spring roll and tempura shrimp are my favorites.
i have to agree with you leah, im not overly keen on chinese food, the only thing i will eat is egg fried rice or king prawn rice and beef chowmain , that red sauce tips me over the edge its toooo sweet
My normal is chicken and broccoli with fried rice, fried wontons in general tsos sauce, crab sticks and I love sweet and sour chicken with that red sauce that comes with it. And sometimes it all depends on which Chinese spot to order from. Not every place is that good.
Beef with black bean sauce is the best. It's also good with shrimp! Black bean sauce is the way to go! My mom loved Chinese food so much! It reminds me of her.
Honey and sesame chicken chicken is really good and Beijing Beef. Thanks for taking on this challenge even though you don’t like Chinese food all that much. Great video! 🤘🏻
I just saw this video after ordering Chinese for delivery! I ordered carrots, celery, snow peas, onions in Hoison sauce with steamed rice, and an egg roll. Then sweet and sour chicken with pineapple, bell peppers and red sauce with lo mein (although everyone calls it chow mein) and crab rangoon. 😋😋 One order but 3-4 meals for me.
You look amazing as always love you 😘❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been stuck outside the Uk since April 2021. I’m looking forward to demolishing a Chinese meal when I get back in May. My order usually is sweet and sour special, chicken fried rice, soft noodles with fried onion, portion of squelchy mushrooms, barbecue spare ribs in sauce, bag of prawn crackers. Usual pat time 45 mins ish. Shout out to the West Midlands! Good job Shuts.
Since you’re not a big Chinese food fan that explains why you didn’t have any sesame chicken 😂. Good shit though as always 💯💪🏾🦾… ( I know I’m late but I’m a new subscriber and been catching up, and you’re an animal lol. I mean that in the most respectful way possible 💯, definitely looking forward to more videos while I’m still catching up)
Personally I wouldn’t order any of what your ate,I would recommend Singapore rice noodles, beef in onions, chicken in black bean sauce, Kung po king prawn with no batter, salt and pepper squid, beef with Ho fun, duck and cha Sui with boiled rice, crispy aromatic duck.
Singapore rice noodles are my favourite, finding somewhere that does them right is difficult.
…. If you can find a place that doesn’t have MSG in their food I highly suggest you try it if you don’t really care much for Chinese food… It’s very different and the taste is actually incredible!! I found this out through a friend who ordered it not long ago and I was blown away.. The difference is truly night and day.. You don’t feel full really fast and then hungry and hour later.. No stomach or digestive issues I would usually get either.. Try it if you can! 😬👍
I love love love your take on how everything taste and looks...lol...esp the glowing radioactive sauce. But!!!! I wholeheartedly agree with you about those ribs!!! I would order the Pu-Pu platter...the chicken is to die for...its usually wrapped in foil. The fried wontons are an absolute fave. Next would be pork fried rice...General Tsos....Orange chicken...hotand sour soup...an egg roll!!! Good for starters. I, by far am not of asian descent...I'm Alaskan Native. Great start Leah!! Much love girl....and I am a huge fan of Chinese food...but only the ones that come in the boxes. More authentic for me. Wonderful job.
Love the hair!
Excellent effort !!
Chicken Foo Yung , Chicken Curry and Rice and Chicken Chinese Style are always good.
Just to let you people know how sweet and sour sauce is made 1.5 parts water 1.5 parts sugar 1 part vinegar depending on quantity then add onion lemon bring to boil then when sugar dissolved turn off then add red food colouring and orange food colouring to get the desired colour
It doesn’t matter what you use to measure your ingredients you can use a mug or a builders bucket it ends up the same if you use the ratio
Teriyaki Beef Lo Mein, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Shrimp/Prawn Fried Rice, Pork Egg Rolls, Hot & Sour Soup. These are my favorite dishes, in Westernized Chinese Cuisine.
Steamed pork dumplings, crab ragoons, scallion pancakes, sesame balls, whatever their spicey hot pot is with shrimp, beef, pork, and tons of veggies in it, general tso...pretty much anything other than what you got. Though I would do the lo mein noodles.
That looks so good
Me personally like what is called Sichuan combination and it has chicken ,pork, and shrimp with veggies! It's a bit on the spicy side but it's very delicious. Fried wontons for me have to have pork in them and usually have a special sauce with them. The red sauce you can't put on everything to me it's only good on the chicken
Good for you to try x
I seen all that food and thought no way ...good job 👍❤️
This one's gotta hurt afterwards!? Not just that it's not her favourite but Chinese take away is heavyyyy.
Some good going, that. Even for The Shutz! 💪
The fortune cookie bit played just after I typed this 🤣
