Year 1941. Georgiy Volkov, Captain of the State Security Service, is delivering to the Soviet Union a consignment of emeralds under a trade agreement between the USSR and Germany. Included in the shipment are a number of top secret documents, the value of which is far higher than any precious stones. The war begins. The train on which Volkov is travelling is attacked by a detachment of Nazis, and he has to flee. He must reach the Soviet side and deliver the important cargo intact as soon as possible. However, a dangerous enemy is hot on his heels - Abwehr agent Konrad von Bützow. The two men will be due to meet on more than one occasion, and soon. The confrontation of these two strong, highly intelligent and worthy opponents is the basis for the plot of the trilogy, “Spies Must Die“.

Looks like a great start to another great series. Damn I love these WW2 series, you Russian film makers sure know how to make them interesting with plenty of action, suspense and realistic characters.
I sure enjoy these Star Media WWII series which makes me nostalgic for the American programs of the 1960s like Combat, Rat Patrol, Garrison's Gorillas.

Another great series that you shouldn't miss. I have been watching many Russian series and movies lately (historical, war series, dramas) as well as documentaries. All of them are fantastic. I highly recommend "Rasputin", "Catherine The Great (Великая)", "Кровавая барыня (Bloody Lady)", a masterpiece, "The Romanovs - The History of the Russian Dynasty". These are not the only ones worth watching, there are many more on UA-cam. Not all of them have English subtitles, but if you have some knowledge of Russian, you should be able to follow the story, and in doing so you will learn more.
