He is a chip off the old block, he behaves just like his father. It seems to me that he believes he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and that's why he's always throwing his toys out of the pram when he has to work hard. Excellent video! I do enjoy lessons like this (advanced vocabulary, idioms etc.) - they are simply amazing. I always get to know some new phrases. Thank you so much. :)
Very interesting lesson. Idioms nbr 2,3,4,7,11,14,17 and 18 are the same and have the same meaning as in Italian. Congratulations and all the best for your baby!
Thank you so much my favourite teacher! I have learned a lot from you. You are super duper cool! Keep shining. I purple you💜. I am also sharing your videos with my friends. Loads of love from Spain!!!
Thank you Anna! I really enjoy the lesson. Some idioms are like in Spain (black sheep, to sleep like a baby). I did not realize that I was using idioms ;). Now I need to watch the video again, take notes and finally use them in a speaking conversation or writing :).
Hi! Anna.Your video is quite engaging and enlightening. That's because, these idioms often spice up the communication verbal or written. I often look forward to having your videos of some interesting topics...... Thanks & regards Prashant Mishra(Lester Miles)
Hi Anna 👋 ,I've been listening to your lessons for almost 3 years as soon as I moved to the UK. I hope you can make longer videos like at least more than 25 minutes.
@EnglishWithMahmoud, this is called spamming. It is impolite and against UA-cam policy. I have reported all of your comments as spam, therefore, if you don't want to get a strike from UA-cam then I suggest you stop spamming all my viewers comments.
Thank you very much for your video!) in my opinion the most cute idioms about family are: 1. To sleep like a baby. I was so exhausted last night and I slept like a baby; 2. My brother's girlfriend has a bun in the oven (which is true. I'll be an uncle soon 😂😀). Cheers, from Russia 🇷🇺
Make some video on pronunsiation. I like your pronunciation and thats why i see you here. Example you says baby as baybee.. . I love this much . Thanks
Now things are very clear for me. I never asked myself, but now I now that the lyrics of the songs from the band "Fall out boys" fit so well in its name" 💜🤣
I love baking sweets. I took after my mum's passion. I'm a chip off the old block. Many people are glad to invite me over because I always bring the dessert. Sweets are in my blood. I think I've never slept like a baby in my life. I can barely sleep a few hours. I've got a light sleep. My sister followed my footstep. She is working as a freelancer for the current company I currently work for and I used to work before. Baking a cake could seem hard but it's actually a child's play. His father was a great entrepreneur, his mother was a brilliant teacher. He couldn't be other than a successful influencer. It runs in the family. She's Veronica, the new kid in the block. Please be kind to her and show where the kitchen is. She's got a bun in the oven. I'm excited for her. Changing your lifestyle doesn't happen overnight, you have to be patient and consistent. Start doing baby steps. Cleaning my room, I threw out the baby with the bathwater. I threw my passport away. It was in those old blue jeans. She's falling out with her husband because he forgot to switch it on and she has to wear another dress tonight. I prefer inviting my parents on Saturday and his parents on Sunday. There's bad blood between them. She wears the trousers. If she doesn't feel like eating pizza tonight, they won't join us for sure. He can't come alone. I'm not sure what we're doing tonight. Serena rules the roost. Finding a vegan restaurant in Malta is like taking candy from a baby. Please come over and feel free to do whatever you want. You're my own flesh and blood. His family is very strict. He just wants to travel all over the world with his backpack. He's the black sheep of the family. He went bananas and he threw his toys out of the pram. After a few days he calmed down. My friend Alex was born with the silver spoon in his mouth.
My friend cancelled our lunch date at the last minute which was disappointing but it meant I had time to go and do some shopping, every cloud has a silver lining.
I'm pretty sure both teaching and acting run in your blood Anna. Great lessons! However, I'm wondering, is this exactly how you speak in your everyday life? Cz your pronunciation is very neat and I don't miss a word you say.
Yes this is my normal way of speaking. I did train and work as an actress for many years. I am also an elocution (pronunciation) teacher which is why you can understand me. :)
I proudly resemble my mother but cherish my father the same, whilst taking care of the grandparents too. My mother always taught me the importance of family as they are the closest blood line in one's own life. I proudly follow in her footsteps and in terms of my genetic superiority in excising extremely hard in cross fit, and muscle building in a athletic way, and well toned is because it tuns in the family. Did some idioms here yes!!!!👍😅
Hiya Anna...,how do you do?I hope you feel well and healthy.first and foremost happy your Halloween.🧟♂️🧟♂️🧟♂️🎃🎃🎃as a English teacher in Iran I didn't know any thing regarding to these idiomatic expressions, hence I found it far and away the most useful and informative to be taught in my classes. Hi! Anna.I'd like to mention one of the famous idioms coined by William Wordsworth-Child is the father of man-means coming events cast their shadows first....... Thanks & regards Prashant(Lester)
There are more idioms out there than we can shake a stick at, I am a chip off the old block. My early career was as a salesman, so I followed in my father's footsteps. Not being born with a silver spoon in my mouth was a constant irk as i grew up.
I fell out with my teacher yesterday. He wants us to write a 5000 words essay in two days he said that it's a child's play, but I told them it's not like taking candy from a baby. Afterwards, he said if we followed his steps, we will finish in time.

are they the same (to take after someone and to follow in someone's footstep)?
Many of those are used in Italian as well; I guess some of them have been just imported by British and American English.
New Kids on The Block was also the name of a boy band.
