I was raised as Christian but didn't understand what "Christianity" really meant for me in my life, until such time that I felt empty about everything. I was looking for something that can fill up the missing puzzle piece in my heart, but nothing can fill it. Then I realize that I have God, and Jesus that died for me. Praise God, 2 Years sober and continuing. I really love living with Him, and FOR HIM. To God be the Glory!

Hi Kevin. I hope you don’t mind me sharing a thought with you. Growing up something I was taught, that’s never left my heart, is that our Heavenly Father is a patient and loving God. He is not a vengeful God but a Just God. Kevin, just wanting to believe, just having the desire is good enough right now. I was raised Christian too and a few times in my life strayed away, and sadly my relationship with God became distanced. Someone reminded me that, if you are not closer to God today than you were yesterday, who moved? God is always there and is unmovable. We decide how close we want to be with Him. Christ’s everlasting atonement is right there in front of us. All we have to do is just invite Him in and let Him heal us. If you have access to the Bible I believe you will find comfort in this scripture, Matthew 7: 7-8 . I can truly tell you that God is rejoicing that you are reaching out to him and wanting to know Him and come unto Him. I truly believe with all my heart that God knows you personally. I think sometimes the world has this idea that God is up there but doesn’t know each of us individually. I know that he does know you David. He knows your heart and he knows your pains and sorrows. He weeps when you weep and he rejoice’s when you have joy. The Atonement was thee most incredible gift our Savior could ever give. Because of his sacrifice, he made it possible for each one of us to return home to our father in heaven. How thankful I am to have it in my life! That I may be forgiven for my many short comings. “During times of discouragement, we must remember that the purpose of the atonement of Jesus Christ is not just to cleanse and console, but also to transform- and that takes time. Christ is not waiting at the finish line once you have done “all you can do”. He is with you EVERY step of the way...”. His Atonement is constant and continuous; meaning that you can come unto Christ and come to know him always, no matter how long it may take. He doesn’t hold back His grace or tender mercies until we feel we’ve deserved it or have earned it. He knows we take time. So He will continue to wait. You will find peace by turning to the Savior who makes the change you are seeking, possible. The adversaries’ (satan) mission is to make you believe, through shame, that you aren’t good enough and that you don’t deserve the abundance of blessings and love the Savior has for just you. Don’t listen to this lie! Satans only desire it to pull you further and further away. He wants you to be miserable as he is. He wants to destroy the way to true happiness. I hope that you won’t be discouraged. That you will continue to seek the Savior, the only one that can give you peace and comfort, strength and relief. Don’t allow pride or shame to discourage you. Let your heart be softened and humility guide you. Please know that if at first you don’t succeed, try again, and again, and again, and again. He will give you all the chances you need.
I hope with all of my heart that you can feel the spirit. I share this with sincere intent and the desire that you will come to know God and our Savior. To gain your own personal testimony and revelation that he does know and love you. He’s just waiting for you, and I know with all of my heart that He will receive you with open arms and weep with joy. You will be in my prayers, that you may have the courage and strength to find Him again. I know that you do and I know that you can. ❤️
