    I did the same exam in 2022 as discussed in this video. I agree with the assessment of level and they go over the different parts in detail. It is interesting to hear how another learner found the exam, I posted a couple of my own videos as well. I think they include translation, as translators might be one of the key target groups of this exam. I'm also happy to have such an advanced exam, so us advanced students have the chance to set these concrete goals, at least I am personally motivated by exams. I had the same experience as Laoma that the worst part was speaking. For spoken translation I think it really needs practise in translation, as the word order in English and Chinese is very different. The hardest was the last, listening a text and then speaking about it. It was something I had never thought about or discussed with anyone, so it was hard to start speaking about the the topic in length. In the end, I got level 8 that I was extremely happy with. Planning to try for level 9 this November!

    The difficulty of HSK reform has really increased a lot, and the pressure on Chinese teacher is also rising!

    Unique and very interesting information about HSK 3.0. I salute Chris's bravery for taking the exam, and I appreciate the considerable work that went into producing Chris's write-up and this excellent video.

    I really appreciate these honest assessments of exams. Thanks Chris and Rita! I was thinking about taking this exam, but I think I'm now thoroughly disabused of that idea.

    I'm curious how much the level 1-6 tests have changed since the new test system came out.

      @@sarajaaksola Wow, it's two years later already. From what I heard, they did in fact change the levels 1-6 quite a lot.

    • @sarajaaksola
      @sarajaaksola 16 днів тому

      @@yeroca The exams for 1-6 are still the same. There is a new curriculum, but it is still unknown when the exams for 1-6 will be updated.

    • @yeroca
      @yeroca 16 днів тому

      @@sarajaaksola Here's what I found online:
      HSK 1-6 Adjustments: The HSK levels 1 to 6 were slightly restructured. The total number of words required to pass each level remained relatively similar, but some vocabulary items were adjusted to better align with the new system and the progression toward more advanced levels (7-9). Some words were reclassified into different levels, and the overall difficulty of the vocabulary for each level may have shifted somewhat.

    好像挺像零八年的高级HSK, 当时,六道八级的听力,说的很清楚,比较慢。到九级以上,是难多的,从广播录音的。阅读,时间特别紧。关于写作,我不知道现在如何,当时是手写的。那时候,没有翻译,口语是把一篇文章朗读出来,然后讨论一个话题。好像现在一样的,中级到高级,难度差距很大的

      @@RitaChinese He changes his rate of speaking and volume, which, in my limited experience in Beijing's hutongs in 1983, is very Beijing localized. I am a little shocked at how authentic he sounds. He does not speak like an academic, just regular Beijing folk. If I talked to him on the phone, I would bet money he is from Beijing.

    Did any parts of the test have to be written by hand? The official vocab lists include handwriting lists of 1200 total characters that people who sit the 7 to 9 exam should be able to write, but it's not clear to me how this is actually being tested.

    The fact that a guy with this level of Chinese failed the exam is that there is a problem with the exam. What a so tricky and complicated exam like this wants to measure? What for? What kind of opportunities I would miss if I had level 7 instead of 9? If had Chris' level of Chinese, a HSK 7-9 would not be one of my top priorities...

    • @sarajaaksola
