Joel, Ben's music has got me through some really hard times, especially through the illness and death of my daughter in law leaving behind her little baby boy and my son.
Every other version of this song I’ve heard is filled with electronic background, stuff that I feel just clutters it up… I feel I lucky to have heard this version before the others… am I alone on this?
I remember someone talking about it and used the word "composition" and my mind went to "flight of the bumblebee" and i think what he was doing was trying to recreate that today. It's a love song, the bubbling electronic background, i imagine, are butterflies in his stomach. All versions are gorgeous, but i love this one, and the jazzopen live version too.
@@kyrirhcp I always find that I like simpler better…. Like with Shakey Graves, when it was just him, his guitar, and his kick drum…. I respect that artists can do what they want, adding bands and electronics as they grow their talent, but the simpler stuff is what draws me and hits me more.
I'm absolutely obsessed with this song
Me, too… ethereal…
I love this guy and his music he has helped me stay alive.
You'll be okay.

wow
I think I prefer the songs from CFTW when they're stripped back, acoustic like this
If you like Ben Howard, have a listen to Nathan Ball.
Nathan Ball is really good, good recommendation I think Nathan Ball lyrically has absolutely nothing on good old Ben though!
Agreed. But Ben's lyrics are so poetic and go over my head so I find Nathan Ball more relatable personally.
That’s a ridiculous statement. Nathan ball is a good musician. But, man, no.
Far, FAR superior to the album version. Maybe just me but I'm not feeling the electronic take on his music.
@B12 Deficient Awesome to know, I have a ticket for December :)
It may be an unpopular opinion, but I agree with you…simple is always better for me…a guy, his voice, and a guitar…
