i have been going to cyprus for 25 years, the long flight is defiantly worth it for the beaches, friendly people and great food.
Great place, lovely people.
only 4 hour fligh for me not long at all
We're back here in three weeks time and can't wait. I love the heat, me. Was in Agia Napa one year when we had 46°C! Felt like a punch in the face! :)
wow
Protaras best place ever ..... fact
We always went in May. Weather then is usually around 25 - 30C. Everywhere is open and people are friendly. Flights are long but in my view worth it.
I often go from the 6th to the 20th July, and the weather is not too hot. The sea is warm and the pool is warm. I have been at the end of August early, September, and the weather has been OK, not too hot. 3rd week of July to the 3rd week of August is very hot.
Totally agree Kevin as me hubby get older we look forward to shorter flights ❤❤
My partners mother and sisters have lived in Cyprus and we have had many summer holidays. August is definitely the hottest month. One year we had 3 days of over 40 degrees. 😱 The flight is a little long but I would say it’s definitely worth it.
Sometimes travelling time can all be in the head. We can travel by car to relatives in Manchester, get caught up at the Blackpool turn off and journey can take 4.5 hours. When we get there it is usually wet, windy and sometimes hail. For an extra hour, which is only a bus journey from Edinburgh to Glasgow you have in Cyprus and Turkey great weather, golden beaches and beautiful views. So for an extra hour I know which I prefer. Ok you also need to be at the airport 2 hours before flight but you are on holiday, just chill and relax, we all deserve it. HHGH
I'm glad Cyprus is 4 to 5 hrs away that's why it doesn't get over run and the prices is affordable
Looks a great place Kev, been thinking of going there for a while but i`ll defo be booking it now, great videos, very informative. Safe travels
You will not regret it. Our 5th time in Protaras 👍
Absolutely love beautiful Cyprus doesn't put me off flight time, always gone in August yes Absolutely red hot even at 8 in morning and night time doesn't cool down much, but love Cypriots lovely people nissi beach is absolutely stunning kev aswell 😎🍹🍻😍😍
great video, I am coming out later in the year with the view to moving there next spring.
I am staying here now...... love it!! Great time to come is early June, and anytime in September
Definitely a place to visit outwith July and August Kevin last time we were there it was the tail end of August and we were so thankful the Hotel had air-con
For me, the flight time to Cyprus from Birmingham is similar to the flight time to Tenerife so it's not too bad. I think its a perfect destination to extend the summer as the weather is gorgeous in the spring and autumn.
We went to Cyprus for 22 years fantastic place July and August definitely too hot just our age now stops us going but enjoyed
Looks lovely Kevin, I agree the long flight plus 2 hours ahead of UK time is a disadvantage. We’ve just been to Rhodes that was 4 hour flight
plus 2 hours ahead….means you arrive quite late. Nice to try new places though you just have to decide what’s your priority. Thanks for showing us new places 😀👍
Hello. Great videos Kevin :) Did you get much bother with Mosquitoes when you were there?
Totally agree, too hot for me. I was there in April and it was perfect weather. Anywhere from Scotland is longer. Malta for me in the Autumn, slightly shorter than Tenerife. Tenerife hopefully next February.
We stayed in Protaras last September and suffered 43c temps, 27c (ish) at night. TBH its too hot for us hence late May and the end of Sept / Oct are far more comfortable for sunbathing and getting about. Oh, and the humidity in the summer months is almost unbearable.
Kevin we have been going to Cyprus in August for the last twenty four years, its definitely tops off weather but well worth it even with the flight time.
The problem with Cyprus in July/August is being in air con hotels or apartments then going outside. It's hard to get used to the temperature and humidity difference. I remember going to Greece in the early 90s and staying in apartments with no air con. It was hell for the first two nights then you got used to it.
Only use the air to sleep. That was the easy way.
Good video, thanks.
Hey wee Kev.I.N, what's f*kd it all up for regular short trips away to EU places is the 90/180 day rule. Quests your nearing your limit 😂😮. I think I could enjoy where you are now, or Paphos, for a first ever trip to Cyprus. By the sounds of it staying nearer Paphos is a better option if your flight only as it's close to airport and I believe from what friends say public buses are not a patch on the Spanish system. Just my own personal thoughts. Cheers DougT
I can recommend hiring a car for the duration of your visit if you want freedom to travel around and see the various places. Prices were reasonable (albeit I was not there at the height of the tourist season).
Other drivers were courteous - Cyprus has an excellent system (red number plates) to alert drivers that it is a hire car so the locals were more tolerant to those who are not locals or familiar with the roads.
That being said, the road system is quite straightforward. Very few roundabouts, certainly nothing like UK.
Kev I totally agree with you. That place looks amazing, if you’re a beach person, I’m not, I prefer exploring old towns. And the flight is too long. But yes I agree if the flight was two and a half hours I would be tempted. The place looks really smart. Thanks Kevin.
Agree with you about weather we own a apartment but never go july August its far too hot 40 deg plus
40 wow
Not for me get bored with the beach long flights can become tedious i think Nerja Albufeira and a few nights in Cannes will be on the cards for the foreseeable possibility Lisbon nice video Kevin
If you aren’t down with the kids, you would enjoy the north coast (Latchi, Polis, Argaka) so many things to see and do up the coast road from Aphrodites Baths to Kato Pyrgos.
If you ever come back give me a shout and I will show you the other side of Cyprus, the villages and mountains.
I've always gone in July and August going again for 2 weeks in July and a week in August I can still do all the things I would if I went in may I take a walk from protaras to penera and back everyday
No flights from Belfast to that part of Cyprus 😢
Well worth the flight but may/ June best time to go. It’s beautiful
I always go in September weather still hot but not as hot as in August
Unfortunate truth is its so overpriced and exspensive now, but once its got your heart you literally do anything to save to come back. Every year I price the Balerics etc for half the price, and still end up in Cyprus 😂
Summer, I have seen 46 degrees in August.
Wow
Why constant remarks about flight ? I personally wouldn't go elsewhere for the sake of a shorter flight. If you get package hols the transfer can take longer as you drop off at various hotels which would be same in any country, taxi/car hire takes 45 mins. Buses run often in resort and during the day cost €1.50 or €2.50 at night and run between 6am to 4am following morning. I love July/August heat but appreciate that's to hot for some
We were there about 15 years ago in July and we were in a heatwave they shut the beaches and water became free of charge everywhere but it spoilt the holiday I have never felt heat like it you could not sunbathe full stop in fact we were in penerna
were you walked through it the Hotel Pascaliea next to a little water park but it was 40 degrees at night the top temp that week was 48 degrees were we were but it hit 52 degrees in Nicosia and we were told a lot of local old people passed away with that heat but we have bean since still hot but no heat waves mate YNWA
Wow crazy hot
George knows the buses!
4 hours 10 last time I came over..Gatwick
is hot bat you can still have a fantasic time you need to be sensible but well worth it
Any Cypriot will tell you that the heat and humidity in July and August is unpleasant. I've been on a few 4 week trips to Paphos in October, the temperatures are in the mid to high 20's and everything is still open, with the bonus of cheaper flights and accommodation.
I’m no sun worshiper, and didn’t find it too bad in august. Just take it steady, plenty of shade and water. Don’t try doing too much in it.
I think I prefer to take a longer flight to Cyprus than other closer, hot countries. Prefer the food, the beaches, the history and the people.
Workmate raves about Cyprus ,he wants to retire there .
☺
Would it still be warm in mid October ?
Yip
Ibiza less than two hrs from Stansted airport
Wow
@@ScotsmaninTenerife 2hrs 25 mins coming home though , must be uphill coming back.
If I don’t like the flight don’t go there lol 😂
Cyprus is beautiful as for the flight it’s well worth it amazing food hot from March to November roasting hot
I'm going may 6th,will the weather be nice?
@@amandathomas2272 iv not been there early may normally go mid September it’s 30 every day going end of.may start of may should be 24-28 most days
Cyprus is further away, so the flight is longer. Geez
Anyone looking for the best beaches in europe, unspoiled paradise, and a short flight, put sardinia top of your list.
Cyprus has become very expensive and the people are nowhere near as freindly as they used to be
The Flight times do not bother us, it is worth it to travel to Turkeyi or Cyprus. Calis Beach Fethiye Turkeyi is beautiful and one of the Cheapest Resort.
Calis is my favourite place 🙌
@Maurice Bain You can get a Pint in Calis Beach for 40 to 50 Lira, 30 Lira to the Pound at the Moment, Draught beer, Meals are awesome and cheap if you shop around, Hisaronu has set meals from £8 for a 3 course meal, £15 if you want a steak dinner. Boat trips £20 , all day incuding a fantastic meal , also pick up from your hotel. Still affordable if you shop around. We will be in Turkiye all of September , then on to Caletta De Fuste ( Canary Islands ) in February, then Protaras in July 2024 , Looking forward to all these very special Places, Enjoy Viewers , where ever you go.
Hi Kevin, enjoy you’re videos and insight. Did you consider going to the north? Drinks cheaper and well everything in general really more value for money also the better beeches.
Krvster Wit so your tellin me that theres people who go in tae Travel Agents & say Naw we canny go there the security que theres massive🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🏴💚
Yes kEVIN VERY VERY HOT IN SUMMER OCT TIME VERY NICE
also you get what you pay for
I used to own a holiday home in Ayia Napa and spent all my spare time there but I sold it in 1995 because the island was becoming horribly over developed. Today Protoras is a horror story and the area north of Pathos is going the same way.
Today I prefer Malta.
Being honest protaras is just one main strip and the beach I have seen lots more places over developed.
Your not pronouncing Protaras correctly :-) Yes July August September its very hot
